My guess is since the saw gunner is more than able to reach the area targets they decided to use m4s since they're point target range is the same, but they're easier to move in and out of vehicles, and in buildings.

That already happened like early 2000s. By the time I joined in 2007, and deployed in 2008, virtually no one had M16s outside the wire, everyone had M4s for combat missions by then. Basically the 50m loss of range was not a huge deal, but since in both Iraq and Afghanistan we were in and out of vehicles, in and out of buildings, the shorter more compact carbine was more effective and more maneuverable. Even in the valleys where longer range fights happened, the lighter weight M4 was preferred when you have to hike in and out every pound up and down those mountains all day... That's actually one of the main criticisms over the new NGSW rifle replacement for the M4, the XM5, which is a 6.8mm rifle with a longer range round, but is a couple pounds heavier..
Yes and No. This is the basic, standard organization (and is a bit out of date, this video was made 11 years ago after all... Nowadays mostly everyone has some sort of CCO or ACOG, not iron sights, the M320 grenade launcher has replaced the M203, and other little details like the camo and less bulky plate carriers vs what's modled, etc but is still generally accurate, especially in the overall organization and roles). AT-4 and other "Shoulder Launched Munitions" are issued as a round of ammunition, similar to hand grenades, when and as needed based on the mission and the threat. There's no basic "This guy will always carry an AT-4" in the basic Infantry Squad, but it's exceedingly common for the Squad to have access to an AT-4 or M141 BDM or two for the mission (The Platoon Weapons Squad has two Anti-Armor Teams each with an FGM-148 Javelin. Although in Afghanistan with little to no tank threat it wasn't super uncommon to see the Javelin teams re-equipped with machine guns or other systems instead, but doctrinally they're there). Same with Shotguns. With little utility in a long range gun fight, they're mostly used in close quarters, room clearing and the like, so various models are available for breaching doors and whatnot, once again based on the specific mission, there's no dedicated "Shotgunner" who will always have a shotgun. Squad Designated Marksman have been in and out of vouge with the Army. Over the past few decades it's mostly been up to individual units if they wanted to invest in the concept or not, but lately the Army has started buying enough M110A1 SDM Rifles to allow one per Squad (largely replacing the older M14 variants and other such rifles)
I don't know son, sounds more like a personal issue to me... It sounds to me like you are a 300 meter fun, the M4 is a 500 meter gun. It may not be using the full potential of the 5.56 cartridge propellant because of the shorter barrel and platform but it still gets out there
I am still trying to figure out, who is this for? Pretty sure enlisted guys arent watching youtube to know these basics. If this is how officers are learning nowadays or if this is some sort of learning aid, then I can see why shit is falling apart.
+SuperSaiyan4ism Negative. The M4 is three round burst. The M4A1 is full auto. Or at least, that's how it was at least as late as 2009, when I was in the Army and carried an M4 with three round burst.
This narrator acts like changing a barrel is easy. I have to beat the fucking thing off with a hammer. The 240 is even worse, spent 20 minutes trying to get that fucking thing off. Finally took a sledge to it. Luckily another guy in the unit ran it over so we’re getting a new one now🤣

Looks more like arma 2 or arma 1
Sadly I can't have ARMA 3. I have a mac.

This probably wont get answered but don't most soldiers now have an ACOG or an EOTech sight?
Depends on unit but as far as im concerned CCO is still the most used optic. ACOGs usually given to NCOs and Officers.
there is a free version you can get and you can buy the full version. I hear its like 500 dollars give or take.
Lot of sergeants in the US army
free version is fine :| gonna try it out with some friends
what kind of armor is he wearing on his arms/ shoulders??? maybe its just how the game looks but it looks as if he has armor on his upper arms
Ryan Hutton That is an actual optional body armor add-on used by U.S. Army soldiers.
It is called DAPS, Deltoid, Armor, Protection, System.
No way this is in arma 3. What program did they use to simulate this
Its VBS2, a ArmA 1 engine simulation software specifically made for the US Military.

Why are they trying to replace the full sized M16 with the M4, it makes very little sense to me perhaps someone can shed some light on this for me.

SuperRip7 Depends on the type and likelihood of contact expected.
Mortars are not organic to the squad
Mortars are assigned to companies and can be further assigned to platoons.
