@@kevingood4830 It's a video about how to demo with one. If the goal is to save material, you use it much more gently. That's not the point of the video though.

I love thw fact that he used the tool backwards! Just like the video... He shows how to use the tools most valuable aspect, conducive to a clean job, at the end of video.
I use the eyelet thingy when I have to remove rotted 1x or 2x boards that are screwed in on exterior decks. Those Robbie screws that have been painted/stained over multiple time are a drag to remove. Pound the eyelet a few times over the screw, scrape the wood from around the screw and use vice-grips to remove it.
Just found the Dewalt version on a road on the way to work. Two days after finishing a pallet project for a customer where it would have come in handy. Thanks for illustrating the features of the tool. I guessed at the last one but you confirmed it.
@@alcopower5710 the stiletto because the claws are close together which makes it easy to dig in and catch the nail head. The Martinez is cool, it has a mini side nail puller on it then another on the shoe which is badass but the claws are two far apart which I don’t like. Martinez actually doesn’t make his nail bar anymore he discontinued it because they were getting expensive to make.
Dude, the Zero skull and ramp are making me trust you probably more than I should. Thanks for the education, I will make sure to drop in on you on the regular. \m/
Love this channel!! I had no idea I was so interested in carpentry. Could you do a video on the best practices for removing a wall old drywall (or in my case sheet rock) and replacing it with new drywall/sheet rock? Sometimes the hardest part of a job is figuring out how to begin.
I bought a Stiletto 15 years ago for $53.00 to build my house. I've beat on it a lot and still in great shape as it is made out of Titanium. I think mine is a little shorter too.
Geeze, for the last 50 years, ive been doing it wrong!🤔...Never knew there was a science to it?...Good thing i moved,..All those Deck customers must be pissed!
I just use the $12 Japanese bar with the bull on it. It sometimes comes with a blue rubber grip around it and unless it’s winter I cut it off and throw it away. I don’t care what the brand is, I know it’s good, cheap and everyone has them. Just like Makita circular saws. Of course since I’m also a plumber I long ago switched to cordless, (Milwaukee) unless I’m gonna be doing a ton of ripping.
AND that's why you use screws on plywood, or knock the sheets off from behind, pulling the nailheads through the ply. AND yet, I still want to buy one of the nail puller, catspaw thingys. Seems way more sophisticated than my claw hammer and demolition bar! You've got some great videos. Cheers from Orstraliya. PP
Hey man your videos are entertaining, as well as most importantly, Informative probably why you have enjoyed success. Was kinda hoping you some vids on finish carpentry especially crown molding but as well as base boards and windows casings. Thx for the help on drywall basics and hanging doors
I love your info I see the part when you become the new owner of a tool that was left on a job site. But as a DIY it's good to know the info you give us so we could use these tools properly and safely more knowledge more helpful.
Considering most applications (subfloors, finish carpentry) will entail flush or subtle countersunk position for the nails, please let us know if you have a better solution to this.
Just an idea for the channel. If possible you could organize (rename) these short videos. E.g. "Tool Intro Shorts - XYZ Tool". Otherwise some people mistakenly may not appreciate the channel for what it is about. I saw you got some bad comments a few days ago, which were undeserved, but I think it was because those people did not get it, that your video was part of a series. Either way, just my thoughts.
23oz Vaughn California Framer. but he suggests one slightly lighter and with the magnetic nail setter. watch his 3 Pro tips using a claw hammer for more info.
You don't want to "reef" on it because then you break the face of the plywood you want to keep pulling slowly as you keep tapping in a radius curve then the nail comes right out and you barely hurt the face of the plywood
God i left that thanks soooooo much for telling me and because u got tool rental time on my stiletto just send in the mail to california we will call it even
I mean for demolition I guess. When you have to get that nail out. Cats paw is an ok tool but it seems like your tearing it out. In that case, who cares what it looks like? Is someone gonna reuse this plywood?
I really need to find a new hobby besides watching room painting, ramp demo and now nail pulling! And I keep telling my kids they are wasting their lives away watching all those Korean pop girl videos! And the wife is telling me hey build something instead of watching those videos, you're wasting your life away!
Sadly nobody even knows what your talking about. I got my grandfather's when he died in 1996 and have used it hundreds of times and it still works like when it was made, which I would guess was close to 100 years ago. I don't think the newer ones are made anything like the old original ones.
After using this technique on your walls and ceilings please watch the next video on how to sand and fill all the holes you made !
This is the video how to not use a nail puller.

Yeah , that's what I thought I would see here...I use one myself and it works well.
It’s a demonstration so it’s gonna be more dramatic. With skill this can be done with minimal damage.

Oddly, I left a stiletto nail puller on a job in Canada. Could you send it back to me please?
Excellent how-to vid on using a nail puller I just got, for breaking down a stubborn shed foundation. Thanks!

Finding tools makes me feel like a kid at Christmas
My brother bought the dewalt nail bar it’s pretty heavy compared to my Martinez nail bar and the Martinez feels heavier than my stiletto nail bar.

Bought 2 of these brand new for 15 bucks. Greatest purchase iv bought.
Here to find the purpose of the round hole on top. Gave me just that. Thank you sir.

Well Mel - you could start by calling Ben over at Vancouver Carpenter and see when he is available. I hear he works for skateboards....
Have you ever tried a slide hammer nail puller? No real damage and able to get deeply embedded nails but not very tool belt friendly.

HEY THATS MY LOST NAIL PULLER! MY TITANIUM CATS PAW! MY FAVORITE CLAW BAR!
Thanks, I was wondering about that circle thing. Well explained.
Wtf best pry bar ever you use it like an aprentice 😂😂😂
Dude. Love those skate videos.
Informative as always, thanks bud
Instead of calling it a nail puller, they should call it a “wood mulcher”

I think you're talking about the Estwing Pro Claw. ✌️
Thank you. Just the video I needed to see. 🌹
I used to frame myself and in specific situations that punch worked great. Its shit with plywood though
Lol i thought this was Steve-O from jack ass 🤣 Good tips though 👍
And the hole punch isn’t a gimmick. You once again weren’t using it right lmao
These are the best

great video! thank you!
I bet it'll make less of a mess if you...(wait for it)...feather the edge
Great tips. Thank you.
Causes less damage if you go parallel to the grain, you know that already though.
It’s plywood , doesn’t have a “ grain”
32 below with the wind up on here todsy lol...
How but .How to use a 18 Brad nailer the right way ..
Thanks for all ur super Diy vids
I paid $1 for mine at a flea market. That’s where I get most of my hand tools. I rarely buy new tools unless I need it fast.
nailed it!
I think most people are trying to remove nails without damaging the wood.

When we going to get a skating video? Ramp building or something?
How old are you and how long have you been doing this?
what model hammer you swinging there, chief?

Whats up with the ramps in the back?
Good thing you didn't want that plywood to look nice after pulling that nail lol
God i left that thanks soooooo much for telling me and because u got tool rental time on my stiletto just send in the mail to california we will call it even
On thinner material you might be able to just cut a hole around the nail with that punch, not pull the nails at all.
Can I use on drywall ?
For a tear off and if ur just throwing the plywood out I'd say yes and tht thing is definitely a gimmick 100% and definitely takes longer than ur way
I'd like to see this how a HIT nail puller measures up to this nail puller
put the bar 1 meter far from the nail.so u will destroy all the wood.u destroyd the wood.better to leave the nail in than this
the gimmick would work really well for deeply embedded screws
What works even better is a screw driver, for screws.
Its a "cats paw".
He's Canadian.... Everything is called something else in Canada..lol
Or... is everything named differently outside Canada?
Pigs foot . In Australia
I'm from Arizona and no one calls it a cat paw at the tracts. Nail puller
I’m Canadian and I call it a cats paw... but then again no one knows what the fuck I mean when I say it
"Here's how to destroy your wood".
How can you call it a gimmick when you have only tried it once and you might have not hit it far in enough
those kids are going to get to class and wonder who the hell and why all their nails were pulled
Actually that is not proper way to use it. You don’t need to dig inch deep into wood to pull a nail.
I mean for demolition I guess. When you have to get that nail out. Cats paw is an ok tool but it seems like your tearing it out. In that case, who cares what it looks like? Is someone gonna reuse this plywood?
my cats claw is the cats ass, as I use a roofing hatchet, it's essentially a part of my hammer
Hey, that's my nail puller.... 😉
We call it a cat paw in the lower 48
And in England
Good bye wood
“A bit less” as he pulls up half a yard of wood
WHY NOT USING TINY HOLE SAW?
It would cause less damage on a 2by
On the East Coast, we call these tools cat's paws.
not such a talented carpenter if you cannot figure out how to use that beautiful tool. maybe your the gimmick ?

I would say maybe works better in 2by lumber to make that divot....but gimmicks or not 100 bucks on cats paw, not me either I like my 20 dollar hart👍
I feel like if the mechanism was 1/8 inch bigger
Too much work and destroying the surrounding surface. Instead, use a Crescent 56 Forged Alloy Nail Puller!!!!
Sadly nobody even knows what your talking about. I got my grandfather's when he died in 1996 and have used it hundreds of times and it still works like when it was made, which I would guess was close to 100 years ago. I don't think the newer ones are made anything like the old original ones.
NOOICE
What in the fuck?? 😂 Not at all how you use a cats paw
You are demolishing the wood; a bit more finesse and less hammering up multiple layers of the wood is needed.
It's a total gimmick, I just cut the dimple off and was left with a nice sleek bar that doesn't get hung up on anything.
dont turn the sound down when you edit the vid. i want full sound. lates
I just use 2 hammers. Turn one around and hammer head to head
MEH, the 115 year old SLIDE HAMMER NAIL PULLER works better and doesn't need a hammer. Easier to use.
Its not u just not doing it right
Someone has plenty of cash .....that's a stilleto $100 +nail puller $$$$
You click baiting sob. Lol jk
Dude, eye protection, for the love of God
Is this the right tool to buy qhen taking 5inch nails out of two peaces of hardwood skids?
