    I use the belt trick. Just take off your leather belt and use it the same way as the strap.

      Try a back brace like the one for gym. You wouldn't believe how much it boosts your lifting capacity

    I would think putting the strap under the tank and using the forearm holes would be easier

    Put strap around heater but under the temp pilot valve and lift with straps opposite side.

    Looks like it would be easier to just hug the thing and lift it up. You're using more strength to prevent that non-sticky strap from slipping, actually making it harder to lift up as it's working against you, not for you.

      You are totally right a sticky strap(or rubberized) would have been better, but these did not slip too much.
