2007 BMW E61 550i Touring Top Speed German Autobahn POV

- I took this natrually aspirated 4.8 litre BMW V8 for a spin on the Autobahn. The BMW N62 was also found in the 7 series, X5 and the 6 series and some other brands such as Wiesmann and Morgan . The latest version N62B48TU produced 367HP at 6300 rpm and 480NM of torque at 3400rpm. Ther is other versions with less capacity and less horsepower. Nevertheless this Engine was also used by Alpina in combination with a supercharger in the Alpina B5 and B5S producing 530HP and 725NM of torque in the B5S models.
The 550i is the fasted version of the E60/E61 produced by the BMW AG
In terms of fuel economy and power this is a highly efficent V8 engine due to it's valvetronic.
This is the LCI version wich has a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission.
In my opinion it is completly underestimated and really special to drive.
0 - 100 and 100 - 200 kph are measured.

Bei uns ist ein Porsche Werk da kann schon mal TurboS oder GT3RS mit 300+ geflogen kommen, habe ich nicht nur einmal erlebt 🤣

550i feels like a forbidden badge nowadays
There is an error in the description, the N62B44 engine, i.e. 4.4l, was used in the Alpina B5 and B5s, not the 4.8l one in the video
What a sound!
Car is able to do > 300 without limiter, did try it one day with gps on board. 305 on a cold night with the 550 as sedan.
I am checking for options to get the limiter removed at the moment, hopefully by next year we have a new video to compare it.

там даже по секундомеру больше 12 сек.если учесть погрешность спидометра ,то будет все 14 сек

Its lci but with old idrive called CCC
It was CCC then CCC LCI and from 09/2008 CIC with the short buttons, wich you mean (Navigation professionell SA609), but LCI came out 03/2007.

This car is a pure joy to drive. Fun in the X5 but the extra 1000 pounds impacts its performance. In the much lighter 550i it is so much fun to drive. And it gets nearly 30mph on the freeway at 75 miles per hour! Very efficient! By the way what year Alpina B5 has this engine ?

What timing gear did you use for the 0-100? The car seems so much faster than 0-100 in 6.4 seconds would suggest. Is that time definitely accurate?
Clearly the car is capable of more if de-limited.... How much more I wonder? Only in Germany can you really use and enjoy that motor and find out. In other countries it is mostly wasted. In the UK everyone drives either a 520d or 530d, you seldom see any other models, because you can't enjoy them here.
Dragy and it is really accurate. I was a little late on the gas paddle and also had traction control on, the car was on winter tires. Sub 6 is definitely possible, but bushings an trustarms don't like these from 0 runs 😂 About the Top speed we will find out as the car will get it's limiter removed in the future.
@@notempolimit Have you done any major maintenance to the engine? It really seems to run well compared to other N62s
@@nvl2691 No just all sealants of the air intake to the throttle body and the two vaccum pump sealants.

@@nvl2691 No, only tank vent valve was broken once. Driving cars slow all the time is the death for every engine. They need to run close to top speed for 300km-400km in one run, at least once a year, that all the build up can burn off.
12.27 s 100-200 km/h ist so schnell wie der E39 M5 mit 400 PS und 6MT! Das ist aber doch nicht möglich!
Wenn ein Touring E61 550i wirklich so schnell ist, dann ziehe ich nach Deutschland, um einen E61 zu kaufen! L.G aus dem Iran!
E39 M5 11.6s 😉Ja der fährt immer tiefe 12er Zeiten, habe ich schon mehrmals gemessen.

@Messergebnis-liebhaber - Schlag mich tot, ich seh da 14,xx Sekunden. Von 2:39 bis 2:53 sind bei mir 14 Sekunden, oben drauf kommen die Kommastellen. Und sollte der abgefilmte Tacho vorgehen und nicht GPS entsprechen, kommen da schnell 2 Sekunden oben drauf. Ich seh da keine 12 Sekunden.
@@MrZillas Laut GPS habe ich die 100-200 km/h Zeit gemessen. 207 km/h auf Tacho = 200 km/h GPS
105 km/h Tacho = 100 km/h GPS
Von 3:32 bis 3:44 sind bei mir 12 Sekunden.
