Simply amazing! thank you for taking the time to create this. Clearest tutorial out there, no horrible accents, no rushing, just a calm steady stream of info. Got me up and running in 25 minutes flat. Highly recommend repeating your steps on a second screen.
You sir, are trully the best. I am learning this at school to draw buildings. Your videos are like a gazillion time better than the one they make me watch. Subscribed to the bone.
That has to be the best TH-cam name ever! Glad the vids are of use to you. It gives me a warm rosy glow to know my life has not been (completely) wasted! AutoCAD gets shunned sometimes as it's not trendy - it's simplicity is it's strength in my view. You'll never be without a job if you can master AutoCAD.
Thanks 'emmockladdie' as someone that is fairly new to AutoCAD this video has been a great help, particularly the use of the aliases, as i didn't even know those functions were possible. :)
Cheers Gregster. You can also get a 'use once' OSNAP at any time by holding the shift key and right-clicking your mouse. Pretty handy for ones you don't want to have permanently on your OSNAPS preferences. Best regards.
Cheers Craig. Keyboard is the fastest way to use the software, space bar changes to another enter/return key so you can use yuor thumb after you have typed the one or two letter alias. You'll fly once you use the keyboard shortcuts. BTW you can devise your own aliases if you edit the acad.pgp file ... just use a text editor, it's useful to print this out anyway so you can learn all the aliases.
Hiya. It depends on who you are or the line of industry you are in I suppose. Someone used to 2D autocad will find it easier to use 3D within AutoCAD. Being able to draw your geometry first e.g. to work out angles is extremely handy. If the base info you are working from is already in .dwg format then you won't lose any accuracy.3D Studio has an accuracy level that makes it a problem going backwards and forwards with files. All you dan do is try them and see which you feel most comfortable with.
hi Agni, I am assuming you are asking in relation to changing the elevation of an object ? You can do this with minus CH ( -CH ) this lets you modify properties of an object from the command line. CH on it's own will bring up the properties panel - change 'start Z' and 'end Z' for a line or if it's a polyline (polygon or rec too) you will see 'Elevation' can be modified. I use the -CH one as it does lines and polylines.
nice teaching , i liked it , for being a civil Engineer and using autocad 2d , i guess its more better for me to have the 3D using Autocad not other programs thanks
Hi Ian. I can only get a grey (sketchup like) background if I am using a camera. Which version of AutoCAD are you on? My vids were made with 2013 - might be a new thing in 2014? I have the 'dark' colour scheme active set this in OPTIONS.
Thanks Oz for the feedback. I'm actually English but I have lived here in Scotland for over 20 years now. My email is on my home age -click on 'show more' at the video description above, it's there on the homepage as a graphic so I don't get spam.
Very helpful. Though l would've like it better for the buttons of the commands to be shown, rather than typing the command. It's a problem when the software is in another language like the 1 l have to work with, which is in Spanish. For For instance, where is the "break" button (BR)? l also find it much faster to click on it rather than typing it
very very helpful thank u for posting this video much apreciated do u have an e mail u sound like u r scottish r u up in scotland at the moment by any chance thanks
You got it ... pointless learning a whole new package when it's inside the one you regularly use - look at my UCS vids - once you can control the UCS you can operate on any part of a model, very useful in 2D too. best regards
I'm on a mac. When ever i grab the corners on the second shape. My entire line moves. I do not get a second line extending from the shape but actually shift the lines of the entire shape.
hi emmockladdi, Im a student and i learn autocad 3D by myself, and i base on your tutorial to learn but i get a problem like that : when i want to draw a polyline in a plan xOy, the polyline was draw in a nother plan like xoZ. So i wonder what the command to choose a plan to draw. Thanks for your reply.
Hi Tuan. There is a button at the bottom of the screen called 'dynamic UCS' that you can switch off. I have noted that in AutoCAD 2015 this is VERY DIFFICULT to switch off - it's hard to find as well.
Sure - I would like to see that. Check out my UCS tutorials - if you can control that then 3D in AutoCAD is real easy - it's just a few more commands. Best regars. richy

Sorry Colleen ... I don't use the Mac version so I can't advise. Maybe somebody else can comment?
Sell your shitty mac and buy a normal PC.
