Listening on the day after Corbyn was suspended from the labour party, I dunno, to me (and it may be reductive or over simplistic) it seems that whether it's a discussion on poverty or zero hour contracts if we all worked a bit harder we could be socially mobile. I know it's not that simple, a lot of people work hard for their relative wealth but I could never see living on universal credit or whatever as the soft option. Rant almost over, we need the government to value everybody in society.
Even if that were true the problem with that philosophy is that not everyone can be socially mobile. For every winner there will be a thousand losers. What happens to them? Millions of people work hard every day and get nowhere economically (eg. gig workers, charity staff, interns). Poverty is built into our economic system; the rich cannot be rich unless vast swathes of the population are poor
I'd sooner go to prison than return to working like a slave for an agency for poxy 10 quid an hour. Part time workers get the piss taken out of them by the job centre.
“I voted not for the iron fist but for the helping hand”. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
pity that the not-so-liberal progressive left have gone back to the Iron Fist, I would say in fact THE modern tragedy

Tory terminator - what a glorious name! Bless you. From gothenburg Sweden.
I wonder what Billy thinks of the Labour party today . They used to stand with the people not stand against them .
Well, he was not a liberal back then, but more into LeoTrotskij... hehe. Still, he wasnt backing one step. Stay safe friend.
Happy May Day! Workers of the world unite!
Sadly, still painfully relevant.
So true comrade, but keep the faith

Times got harder again sadly..
With that lot in charge these days, it feels more and more reflective of the times

Will this never be relevant?

Looking less and less likely by the hour!
BBC, with its usual "impartiality", fails to report his campaigning, then reports he's failed to campaign!
as a Yankee, this song will never be relevant in my country ever again. here's to riding the never ending proxy war to armageddon.
No it and its message will be ever relevant to humanity, this is our nature.

the helping hand.... so appropriate now.
