She is technically, Sandy initially wanted an arts and crafts show but contracted into a cooking show. Thats why she has tablescapes and explains them.
That honey is probably the cheap kind that's processed and has added sugar. Organic honey is not cheap and definitely would not be within Aunt Sandy's budget.
Yeah aunt sandy mixing two things together makes it the best thing ever, like how you mixed buttermilk, cream cheese, bottled lemon juice and truffle oil together and it was the best thing ever!
Vic Gill, sugar is refined and honey is not. Food companies can get away with saying natural when food has added sugar but the process of refining the sugar to use in food products is not natural. You can get unrefined sugar (considered raw) but it’s still heavily debated since nature never intended for it to be eaten in that form.
@immapplepie uuummmm i think most people can cut fruit her show is called semi-homeade so most of her ingredients are store bought and it would be easier/cheaper for the average house mom to just buy a box of fruit than to buy each indiviual fruit and cut them
Aunt Sandy could not possibly have given this a trial run with anyone, especially kids: After the first slice of fruit is eaten, subsequent attempts to dip the fruit wands into the dipping bowl would have resulted in the exposed spiky ends puncturing the inside of the cantaloupe in order for the next piece of fruit to get coated. By the time anyone got to half way up the wand, it wouldn't even reach the yogurt dip, and the dipping bowl would be bleeding out liquid from all the previous wand stabbings. Stick to vodka please Aunt Sandy!
The Food Network is to cooking as the History Channel is to actual history. The good cooking shows in the US are on PBS with chefs like Julia Child, Lidia Bastianich, and Eric Ripert.
which one is fresher/healthier, sashimi that is taken directly from a fish that is directly killed, or sashimi that's cut and distributed to the markets and then bought?
Honestly those fruit wands are a good idea for kids....but why not let the kids build the wands themselves? It’s like crafty fruit and that means you can get to the vodka quicker. Just saying.
I love how all of you say "why does she use so much pre-cut items?" Her shtick is Semi-homemade!!!! She attracts the people who dont have time but still want to eat decent food. She is not a chef and she has never called herself one so dont expect emulsions, reductions, or some intricate way of doing something. Some People dont eat good food now because it takes too long. She is targeting them and she does a on par job.
@surrency1992 I understand that for... like... dinners, maybe? For instance, busy moms sometimes need to ship their kids around after school and don't have a lot of time. But here, Miss Lee is preparing for a PARTY. Generally people have TIME when they prepare for events larger than family meals.
her sleeves are really bugging me, sorry but I can't take you seriously handling food like that, and the background set looks way to cluttered to look professional and how are people supposed to take the skewers out if the top part is covered with a strawberry?
Listen people, she's just showing us creative ways to better present fruit. The only thing I would do differently is not use the melon half as a bowl and use other fruit to put around the fruit wands like banana slices, blueberries, etc.
This is actually really cute, if you can get over grabbing the skewers with a colorful napkin, or something. I chopped up some fruit and made these for some kids I tutor, and they absolutely loved it. Just not for very young kids, cos those skewers can be dangerous.
@surrency1992 I get that its meant to basically be a show on short cuts but the title is semi homemade, meaning HALF homemade.Everything she does bought.Even her frosting.Opening a can of frosting and putting vanilla in it doesnt make it homemade. How hard is it to put butter, icing sugar, vanilla and water in a bowl to make frosting? And if you wanna go all out just add a tablespoon of cocoa powder. That would actually be cheaper than buying store bought frosting and would take less than 5 minutes.
I am the useless slice of strawberry floating in a sea of vanilla yogurt mixed with honey.
Whenever I feel crap, I think of this comment.
This is so excellent. I am going to remember this.
amazinglyace you’re lucky, I always feel like crap.
Are you Darkwing Duck?
I'm really proud I was your 500th like
I like to wear long dangling sleeves when I cook
Where was the cooking?😂
"Cook"
encliticcopula
She didn’t have a choice. It was the only top in her wardrobe that matched the curtains.
Especially over open flames
She was fucking putting fruit on skewers, not making a souffle
The fruit kabobs on that cantaloupe are giving me nightmare flashbacks of the Kwanzaa cake
lol same
Is it just me or does she seems more like an arts and crafts teacher then a chef?
She is technically, Sandy initially wanted an arts and crafts show but contracted into a cooking show. Thats why she has tablescapes and explains them.
@@kodakexpressmorrinsville2383 Oh my god, that makes so much sense. I feel like everything just clicked into place.
@@FindK00man like when the twist is revealed at the end of a thriller movie.
As you approach Michelin level, the distinction between the two gets blurry, tbh
How is one supposed to grab the skewers from the cantaloupe?
Very good point!
"Take your fork and whisk it around." *whisks like a maniac*
How exactly will the kids get the wands out of that melon without grabbing onto the actual fruit?? Weird
"I like to add honey because it's a natural sweetener" am I the only one that's shocked that she actually added something organic into her recipe?
That honey is probably the cheap kind that's processed and has added sugar. Organic honey is not cheap and definitely would not be within Aunt Sandy's budget.
Adam Muller that honey is far from organic
I've got a bottle of that same kind of "honey" in the pantry right now. its not even real honey its artificial.
Adam Muller Too bad fruit is already naturally sweet
@@spicy_kitty7983 She adds them to her liquor budget for her garnishes. Lol that gives means food costs are low still.
Yeah aunt sandy mixing two things together makes it the best thing ever, like how you mixed buttermilk, cream cheese, bottled lemon juice and truffle oil together and it was the best thing ever!
Hahaha when was that? Ew
Wanna bet that she didn't peel that cantaloupe herself?
Mr Brightside how much ???😂😂
Of course not she bought precut fruit
TV cook don't
Can't you buy this already on the stick
+Kayleeflora thats too semi-homemade even for aunt sandy
1:19 I bet everyone was thinking she was going to say that you could add a couple drops of Bourbon, LOL.
As if we would - I was thinking vodka! ;)
Vodka
seriously? This is on a cooking show? At least paula deen thought to use a doughnut instead of a hamburger bun.
idk why but watching any kind of baking videos that i watched as a kid is kind of satisfying
its impressive how she made a dish which is basically just pieces of fruit on a plate and didn't even manage to slice it herself
This IS a nice presentation for fruit.
I thought as a fruit wand she would stab a Popsicle stick into the melon..
Did we really need an entire video showing us how to shove fruit onto a skewer?
I get scared every time she uses a knife...
I’m the honey bear’s face that flashes by when aunt sandy is near the bowl of yogurt, constantly staring into the abyss
she didn't peel that cantaloupe herself...
These actually look pretty good. I'd cut my own fruit though.
isn't sugar a natural sweetener?
Vic Gill, sugar is refined and honey is not. Food companies can get away with saying natural when food has added sugar but the process of refining the sugar to use in food products is not natural. You can get unrefined sugar (considered raw) but it’s still heavily debated since nature never intended for it to be eaten in that form.
Kayla Cat So nature intended for us to take insect flower vomit and eat that?
The only reason humans have a life expectancy beyond 30 is because we don't eat things "how nature intended."
This is the best thing I have seen her make.
That fruit looks really good Sandy
Alternative title: Aunt Sandy thins the herd by giving children Darwinism-friendly sharp sticks
Oh my god she actually peeled the cantalope, she didn't buy it! Great job Sandra Lee! lol
Well, she went all out on the decorating...
@immapplepie uuummmm i think most people can cut fruit her show is called semi-homeade so most of her ingredients are store bought and it would be easier/cheaper for the average house mom to just buy a box of fruit than to buy each indiviual fruit and cut them
My only problem with it is she left the leaves on...
It looks so pretty and delicious!!
I am 99.99% sure she did not peel thay cantaloupe herself
Too generous bruh
Lmaooooo what was the strawberry for in her dip?😂
Ginia Maxwell decoration to match her tablescape 😂
It was a ‘garnish’
She's so stupid
There is no way to access the dip without drowning the strawberry in yogurt
Exactly. It didn't go.😂
She was the original TroomTroom/5 Minute Crafts
This is the most acturate comment.
Wow, you cut fruit. Amazing.
Remember to stick them in the meat part of the melon or else they'll fall over...
If your melon has a meat part, you should be gravely concerned.
Not gonna lie, this Is one of the few recipes by her i would probably do because i love honey mixed with yogurt. Minus the wands though
If I went to a party and saw that the snack bowl was made out of a cantaloupe, I'd be the one to dump out the insides and start eating the bowl XD
Love you so much my favourite video is the Butterfly cookies
I honestly don’t hate this. It’s kinda cute and probably a half decent way of convincing a kid to eat fruit.
Looks good and yummy!!!
I'm still waiting for the episode where she tells us that by mixing Spam and Ramen together you can get a soooooo dellllllllllllicious meal!
Yum yum love the fruit 😍
absolutely correct.
the only thing is that honey is fructose, so it's not as refined as cane sugar, but the sugar can is also a natural...
They are beautiful!
it looks amzaing
I haven't watched this for a long time but I'm glad my sister reminded me about howdini
That fruit isn't even ripe. Nasty. I'd love to watch her compete on Chopped; she'd be laughed out of there.
+jjjjjokerface deer in the headlights....im sure everything she would make would be laced with booze though
of course pineapple!!
I’m surprised she didn’t use frozen fruit for this
I always match my clothing, kitchen decor, food, and tablescapes. And I put red food coloring in my vodka *hic*
@AceofHadeon she means that honey is an unprocessed sugar whereas white sugar is called refined sugar because it has been processed over and over
I don't think she has the capability to be handling big knives like that lol
The Food Network is to cooking as the History Channel is to actual history. The good cooking shows in the US are on PBS with chefs like Julia Child, Lidia Bastianich, and Eric Ripert.
more pre cut fruit
which one is fresher/healthier, sashimi that is taken directly from a fish that is directly killed, or sashimi that's cut and distributed to the markets and then bought?
Pre cut fruit really Sandra have you noticed that it's much nicer to cut fruit fresh than buy it already cut
Vanilla yogurt is already super sweetened! Why the honey?
No, dont put the plastic bear in the microwave!
How come you always wear the same thing
The countless comments on here astound me.
lmfaooo that one slice of strawberry
Where’s the canned frosting?
whats the point of cantaloupe bowls? am supposed to eat those when i finish guzzling all that honey yoghurt
What does she do with the bowl for the dip eat it or add cocktail at the end
No one on earth didnt already know how to do this
What's with yanks and their pre packaged fruit?.
Looks good
oh this looks nice and flavorful and the best part, no one will know it’s semi homemade, muahahaha 😈
This is like the shit Cher's character in Mermaids made.
Honestly those fruit wands are a good idea for kids....but why not let the kids build the wands themselves? It’s like crafty fruit and that means you can get to the vodka quicker. Just saying.
Never put a plastic honey container in the microwave

I'm. Going. To make. It
It looks yummy
How are the kids suppose to take the wands out?
Hooray for phallic shaped kids snacks!!!
add some marshmallows and it's basically one of Cher's dishes from "Mermaids"
why would the green leaves still be on the wands.........
I still can’t believe this “recipe” essentially wants you to straight-up waste a whole cantaloupe in the name of presentation.
Where does this lady live? Nice view from kitchen window!
Why would you need to dip your fruit into sweetener, natural or not!
Wow

Actually she does have some good ideas IF she would use fresh products and dump the whipped topping stuff.
R those strawberriee washed????????

@KWalsh554 Honey is made mostly of sugar, hun. That's why it's as sweet as sugar.
Lol buys pre-cut fruit from the salad bar at the grocery store
"seven little fruit wands... and the girls are going to love these!" and the gay boys too I should imagine
