Nature will always find a way, just like Fuchs did.

Charles! please cover Alex Toth's work, he's very simplistic and a master of chiaroscuro

Excellent material presented here as always. However I'm not a fan of the traced photograph style that was so big in the 60's with these illustrators. I'm sure they were all excellent draftsmen and capable of making drawings on their own using these principles, but it's not as impressive when they just traced a photo. Of course they made *some* choices on their own. For instance in that first image maybe the desk that connected the 2 figures wasn't actually dark. he may have darkened it to provide that connection that I agree makes the image work nicely.
Incidentally, that's why the figure on the left goes off the edge-- that's the way the photo was cropped.
Sorry, I don't mean to be negative. Your videos are excellent. I just think people should know how these kinds of images were made that are so praised (and they do often look excellent). But once you understand they projected photos up and traced them a lot of the magic evaporates.

Hello! The drawing made me think of exactly that method of tracing, although I do not have a reference to support up my guessing. May I ask from were did you get this knowledge about the popularity of the projecting and tracing technique about that time?
