I like the Muse, overall. Sure, it would be better if it had screen printed front panel graphics instead of the sticker overlay, 76-key keybed, and 16 or 32 voices (there could be space inside for all the cards), but hey, it is what it is. It looks nice overall, and it sounds very good.
There won't be any update, which can repair the most terrible tuning-problems, I guess.. Did they fix the problem of the too slow working envelope-generators? It's told, that they fixed the "latency" problem.. OMG, this shouldn't appear on any synths at all. I hope, it is finally done correctly. I brought the Moog Muse back to the seller, after several hours of trial and error in many cases. I find the sound not spectacular at all, and I am using analog synths since 46 years. This synths just looks beautiful, but that is all .. what it is able about.
Just try updating the firmware on an older Windows PC (which is what I have and many others too I expect) and it's a completely different experience and NOT explained properly ANYWHERE! It was a bloody nightmare! It took 15 attempts trying different things over many hours of terror.....Thought I'd buggered the Muse completely as it lost its startup info and just sat their displaying the initial Moog emblem...Dead! Eventually, somehow I got the new firmware to load in ....but I'm still not quite sure how! An utterly ridiculous, stressful and unacceptable process and lack of proper instruction. I understand for Apple users it's easy, but for us poor mortals, we have to use a PC. Moog, you need to address this PC user's issue NOW! It should be a simple, even and an automatic process; not a poke-and-hope, stressful worry that disables your instrument and leaves you distraught! Shockingly poor, a dreadful and hideous experience!
