Did 400-800mg testosterone for a year came off went through the horrible withdrawals but came out of it all with a decent amount of tissue. Back to natural for now & may just stay natural. From personal experience I went through some up and downs - prefer being natural BUT that time on cycle did build muscle and I did keep about 50-60% of it so I’d say it was worth it. Not promoting this as a good idea but i trained for over 10 years natural have decent genetics and got fed up with the progress after 10 years so I’m glad I did it. It definitely wasn’t a smooth ride but worth it overall and YES in my experience you do keep some of the gains and you can return to your natural hormone levels. I did it for just shy of a year, used other stuff like masteron, anavar, winstrol, tbol and cycled hcg half way through for about 8 weeks. I didn’t do a pct either. As for this diet advice I’d say spot on as usual. Most of what I lost when I dropped the doses and came off was water and glycogen.

Question Dr. Mike: In Jeff Nippard's OVERRATED video, you said dedicated bulking/cutting is more effective than recomping - but in another video, you said that someone in their first year of serious training can just try to maintain their current weight since their body loses fat & gains muscle fairly well during that time. Is there a video you have or can make about what's better for someone in their first year of serious training - and what the pros & cons to each approach for a person in that first year? Thanks!~

    • @ChikitoPOWA
      @ChikitoPOWA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

My 2 ct coming from someone who just made it's first year of training: I aimed at just eating enough protein regardless of how much calories I would eat (If I wanted to eat, I would eat but tried to eat healthy). In the end my weight stayed the same but gained muscle (and thus lost fat). I'm quiet happy how it turned out but I'm still fatter than what I want. So I will go into a cut soon.
The question is what is your starting point? Are you fat? Then a slight cut is a possibility. Are you skinny really not much fat, go in a bulk (the more muscle you have, the more fat you can have and still have a low body fat %).
Skinny fat? Dr Mike has a video if I remember correctly, but you could do all 3 possibilities, cut or bulk or maintenance, all will work at first. Depends on what you want, you will always gain more muscle with a bulk but you will gain some fat so you have to be ok with that. You can cut but it is not recommended because you will just look skinny with the lack of muscle. Maintenance well both gaining muscle and loosing fat will happen, but you won't finish shredded.
All in all, if you want to look more bulky, know that with clothes on, nobody will see a 6 pack, but having somefat will visually give the illusion of being bigger, so that could help to wait before cutting.
      Happy training!

So you're saying the fact I went from 367 lbs to 139 before joining gym has left me with high fat cells still. I assume that would affect muscle gained as it would go back into the fat cells first. Up to 160 now 19 months going to the gym. But I'm at a point where I feel amazing, but haven't gained much strength. Was getting close to going on a cut to see if a second bulk would do anything, but now I'm tempted to just maintain

@@benj1b At the start I now think my test was causing issues but when I went from 139 to 145 I had to maintain around that weight for a op I decided against in the end. I spent about 8 months at that weight but my lifts all started dropping massively, then when I decided that I didn't want the op I was 146-147 and decided to go on a bulk my aim was to go 0.5 a week up to 160 it took longer then planned. My strength levels are only slightly up from before my lifts starting plummeting around 145 I'm now 160, I'm hoping it is a form improvement thing. from when I started when I did 3 day anything goes for about 2/3 months. I've been on a 4 day upper lower or 5 day upper lower ppl. Upper days are normally 2 freeweight compounds into 2 machine compounds A row a Pulldown/Pullup And Flat bench / Ohp / Incline Bench. Followed by 3 isolations a Latraise on the Incline press & Chest Press day and A chest fly on the bench and ohp day into triceps and biceps after those. Thinking about going on a cut to 150 ish then trying to bulk again or just staying where I am for a bit. I am 27 now and only started lifting after I went from 367 > 139 in just over 2 years so I'm not really prime. But Like I said at the start I think I had test issues, didn't know about it at the time, But I was always cold even in summer couldn't sleep all night without waking up and had another big issue. I had all these issues in till I went past 153ish so even if it was all fat I'm probably more healthy now, Defo feel better

To answer the question of when should you stop adding weight as a natty, could the answer be when you're putting on weight but no longer feel the benefits in the gym, I.e. strength isn't going up. Energy levels don't feel better, and you feel more fatigued than normal in between sets.
I could be wrong but I feel like there's a sweet spot where your strength and energy levels peak.

I thought it might be an interesting topic for one of your next videos to discuss the science on whether muscle tearing equals growth or is antithetical to the best growth curve.
I know it has been said a lot in the training community, but when I became a NASM trainer, I heard differently. Seems that tearing means repairing and not recovery, so I’m sure your insight would be appreciated.

Hahaha, I am on another side of the scale. Relatively fat dude, who's gaining muscles and tries to get leaner. I am natty and don't use currently any sports nutrition, like protein shakes, creatine, etc. All this will come later in my journey.
So far I am super happy with my results, where I simply cut the junk food and reduced the carbs.
Assuming that I had 121kg of weight, 20-25% of which was a pure fat, I try to get around 2g/kg of proteins daily (around 180-190g if you recalculate). Near to no sugars, reduced carbs.
Morning I eat 500g pack of faf reduced cottage cheese (almost no fats, some carbs and 60g of protein) with some honey and sesam, pumpkin, etc seeds.
For lunch I have around 300g of chicken breast with vegies and some (very little) rice, noodles, whole grain toast, etc which gives me around 60g+ more. I eat it mostly in two sets, otherwise it feels somehow too much.
During the day I snack on some cheese, different nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews) where I get around 20g-30g more.
After training and unfortunately before sleep there is a salad with canned tuna or shrimps or air fried chicken breasts and olive oil/balsamic vinegar/both. That's anothe 30g of proteins, which I get.
Despite being short on around 20g of protein, I have steady gym gains and weight loss of 10kg over the period of 3 months, which makes me extremely happy!
It's hard to stuff yourself with that many healthy and protein rich food to reach that 2g/kg target, but the results are worth it every second I look into the mirror! In several months I'll probably slightly reduce the amount of food and replace it with protein shakes. We'll see where it brings me then :)
I hope, this will help somebody with the same goals like mine! Have a great day everyone!

So for example, say you do 3x per week full body training, is it enough to only eat big on those 3 days, then cut back and not eat so much on non training days? Say you can only afford enough meat and protein powder to eat them on those training days. Assuming you eat healthy-ish on those other days, can this be an effective system?
