  • A longplay of Wheel of Fortune.
    Wheel of Fortune is an American television game show created by Merv Griffin, premiering in 1975 with a syndicated version airing in 1983. Since 1986, the syndicated version has been adapted into various video games spanning numerous hardware generations. Most versions released in the 20th century were published by GameTek, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 1998.

    Most of the time, for Consonants I would usually go with the R’s, S’s, T’s, L’s & N’s first & when buying Vowels for $250 each I would usually go with the A’s & E’s first.

      Some N64 games did have FMVs, not a lot though if I remember correctly.

      @@UltimateShadow10 Yes. There weren't a lot of games with FMVs but, off the top of my head, I can think of:
      Wheel of Fortune
      Jeopardy
      Pokemon Puzzle
      Starcraft 64
      Resident Evil 2
      Not a lot at all. I think that was one of the biggest limitations for the N64. It played into the narrative the system was mostly for kids.

    I have to say: for what this is, it's pretty good-looking for the N64 and a good game show adaptation in general.

    One thing I learned playing this as a kid, there's almost ALWAYS an "R" and if you don't pick it, the A.I will and score big money.

    • @markheying2830
      @markheying2830 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That same thing could possibly be said for the T, L, N & S.

    • @UltimateShadow10
      @UltimateShadow10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markheying2830 In my experience, that default character that's in the Player 3 spot would always pick "R" if I wasn't able to get it before him, then there'd be like 3 of them. Never fails.

      Wayne Gretzky 64 had a predictable pattern too - if you scored, the ai would become 3 times as good and 95% of the time always pulled it back to 1-1 (or 2-2, 3-3 etc.) within 20 seconds or so

    It's -almost- accurate. The wheel has wrong amounts in some places (Look at 1:31 for an example- the space before the Lose a Turn is supposed to be a $200, and the one after it is supposed to be $450. At 2:13, that $350 space should only be a $200, and it should be more tannish yellow, not purple. 2:34 - the space after the Bankrupt should be an orange $350, and the $250 should be a more lilac color. The only amount that changed from round 1 to round 2 was the $1000 being shifted to $2500. None of the other amounts should have changed. That second $800 and the $550... who was in charge of copying the wheel, and what did they smoke before doing so?
    Round 3 - at 5:01, that pink $300 is supposed to be a violet $150. 5:16 - the $10,000 space is a prize, not a cash space- it shouldn't have been added to the Jackpot total. 6:11 - that blue $400 should be orange.
    At least they got the Round 4 wheel right, which is a small consolation.

      Video and pc games were always a season or two behind, or sometimes they got season looks and/or configurations mixed up. On TV the 1996-1997 season of wheel started with the wheel, for the last season, having changing configurations(or where all the spaces on wheel were) every round. Somewhere in this season was where the wheel config was changed to one config for the whole show, and change only the special spaces, the extra bankrupt, free spins, etc. every round. And they still do that to this day. One configuration for the show, only changing the gifttags, the extra bankrupt, and special spaces. The 1997-1998 season on tv had the new touch screens puzzle board. On the 1997 N64 Wheel of Fortune game, the changing confiurations every round were barrowed from the 1996-1997 tv season. That and the completely covered pat sajack/host end of the wheel platform(Barrowed from the late 80's daytime wheel of fortune)are the only parts of the game that aren't season acurate. My only wish for this near perfect wheel of fortune game was that it included the W H E E L bonus round stand. )For those of you who don't know what i'm talking about before the bonus round wheel they currently use they had a bouns round stand with the word wheel across the top. Each letter of the word wheel were lit up(W H E E L) with a bonus round card inside of it. The player would just simply walk over and pick a card of their choosing knowing it could be any one of 5 prizes(ex. trips, cars, trucks, suvs, cruises, etc and of course, $25,000!! the money didn't start going up till the bonus round wheel and money prizes up $100,000 were introduced in the late 90's-early 2000's). Anyway It just would have been nice like on tv to choose which card to play for. Still one of if not my favorite way to play Wheel Of Fortune!!!

    Of all the Wheel of Fortune ports out there, the Nintendo 64 port is my favorite. I don’t like any after the 2010 port THQ made for the Nintendo Wii & DS.
    It’s quick, it’s accurate for 1997 (with the exemption of prizes, Charlie and Pat), and there aren’t ten thousand announcements prior to each round like the PC/PSone editions have (though I do like those editions as well...the 1998 PC edition is my second favorite port...I just wish the videos worked on Windows 10!).

      Pat Sajak has stated much later how he didn't want to be involved in video games due to his children growing up and seeing him on the cover, not being aware of what that meant. Essentially, it's not the company's fault but his fault. Plus, Vanna did a great job as being the sole host for over 14 years on video games.

      Gregory Pearsoll you forgot Nintendo DS! Shame! Also, that was the ONLY port (along with the Wii port) where all three Pat, Vanna and Charlie were featured (released in 2010), just prior to Charlie’s passing later that year.

      @DrummingWriterTrekfan84 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      She was host and letter turner on almost all pc and 90's video games on most platforms/consoles. I think they did that to give her a turn at hosting since pat did all (or most of if you count that their were other hosts on the daytime tv version) the hosting on tv.

    • @kevinpalmer9756
      @kevinpalmer9756 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pat Sajak did not want his likeness on any video games until his children were grown up. Part of his contract or something when it came to game licensing, which is why only Vanna was ever featured on video games until such time as the Sajak kids were adults.
