My beautiful garden in mid-to-late June 2024

- In mid-to-late June, roses continue to bloom, lilies and many perennial plants are newly flowering. More than fifty clusters of white hydrangeas fill the garden with sacred beauty, and sandhill cranes stroll and dance gracefully in the garden. Time passes peacefully!

What a labor of love. The sandhill cranes are magical. I live in WI zone 4 and have many of the same plants, but mine is far from weed free. What is your secret for this? Where is your location? I do turn off the music and simply love this with the sound of silence. This allows me to think pleasant thoughts and my own imagination to ponder what a wonderful world we live in.
Cindy, hello, thank you for visiting! I'm in Illinois, close to you, so we both choose cold-tolerant plants. If we mulch heavily every year, garden weeds are less, and dense planting also prevents weeds from growing. Happy gardening！
@@LindasFlowersandVegetablesGard Have you ever tried to use plastic landscape material? I have used old newspaper with mulch on top but never the plastic stuff. Does it work or is it only useful for established beds like yours. Just wondering what you think. Have a great 4th of July!
I haven't used plastic materials or newspapers in my flower beds. Every year, I use a lot of mulch, which I find more organic. In my experience, mulch is excellent organic fertilizer. Besides roses, I fertilize 2-3 times a year, and other flowers and plants covered with mulch grow very well without additional fertilization. Happy holiday!
