While they did love each other, Lana, even by the end of the show, was not the woman that was ready to be Clark's other half. Just one example, feel free to disagree. One scene that cements Lois as Clark's match. I'm going to write this just from memory so forgive me if it is not perfect. When Tess walks up to Lois in Watch Tower, and tells her that being a hero's wife, means accepting that hero's sacrifices. Lois looks straight into her eyes, and tells her that's where she's wrong. Being a hero's wife, means never accepting defeat. That sealed it for me.

Then when he switched worlds with a different Clark, green arrow ( Oliver queen) was engaged with Lois. He still told Lois that he can’t live in a world where Lois doesn’t love him. in general Lois and Clark were destined for each other. Lois’s love is what made Clark turn out to be the man he became. Dr. Fate himself said that she will be the one he needs and he will be the one she needs.

As much as We all need to see Lana and Clark together, wanting a great story plus they were keeping to the comics story. Lana Lang was definitely a greatly appreciated and well loved character. I really liked the 1st episode I think where Clark kinda trips at the school and Lana says are you man or Superman. I wish there was a great Cast and skilled writers on another Show similar, That won't happen again in this lifetime. So far the shows out there just dont seem to have the spark or spirit that Smallville has and is still enjoyed by many to this day. Not all episodes are perfect but the story And Shows episodes proved that all the Acting cast was really accepted by a lot of us.

The military life is a whole different world. You are the job. I remember when my daughter watched the show you spoke about. She and the wife liked it for a while. Clark and Lana ruined Smallville. The writers themselves admitted they made a mistake in dragging them out too long. Clark and Lana should have ended after high school in season 4, and he should have been with Chloe after season 5, so that by the time he ends up with Lois, Lana is far in his rearview mirror.

I don't understand this love story,...I mean, they are great together, so cute, so much in love,...but why would the creators make such a romantic love story between Clark and Lana,...when they don't end up together. Watching them together,...who needs Lois Lane?

I feel that after knowing Clark & Lana’s love story, Louis & Clark does make sense anymore for me. I always knew and like Louis and Clark, they were meant to be, but knowing that there was once a Clark/Lana story, this changed everything for me. Love Clark & Lana 😩
I also loved Clark and Lois in other Superman movies like SnyderVerse, Comics etc but in this show writers messed up. If they really wanted that Clark should end up with Lois then they should end Clana in Season 2 but as they continued them to 8 seasons then they should have ended up together or at least provide us an alternate timeline where they do. For example in an alternate timeline In comics entitled "Superman Red Sun" Clark and Lana ended up together

I believed that to but the last 2 seasons made me realize that Lana and Clark were just not meant for each other. Lois and Clark’s relationship was much more positive compared to Lana and Clark’s relationship. I really did like clana in seasons 1-2 but after that it just didn’t seem the same anymore. In season 7 I thought it would work out between them because Lana finally knew about Clark’s secret but it was exact opposite. Lana’s hatred for lex was stronger than her love for Clark ( not that I don’t blame her after the horrible thing lex did to her) but it just shows that their relationship was overall just toxic I mean she couldn’t even tell the difference between bizarro and Clark so.

I can understand Louis and Clark because of the comics, and fans would've probably jumped on writers throat if they let Lana and Clark together jajajajaj BUT Tom's chemistry with Kristen is unmatched. Even the scene where he almost kisses Louis, the way he looks at her is like if he was a model posing for a camera, but when Lana appears, immediately his look changes and the actor always managed to perform the sweetest look with her. Same thing with Kristen. 🥺 So, I blame the writers for expending so much time on Lana and Clark, knowing the end. I can imagine them having a hard time to let Lana go since the actress was so good, and like I said, her chemistry with Tom was great, but still. So, it makes me a little bitter knowing that having Lana and Clark full grown ups would've make them the great couple they couldn't be when they were younger and inmature.
Yes!! Tom's eyes were characters of their own. His eyes just went from stoic, looking at Lois to a sublime look when he saw Lana. One of the directors during a DVD commentary, said that the Chemistry btn Tom and Kristin could not be taught, it was just there.
YUP Tom and Kristin's chemistry was unmatched! It was insane how they could even have scenes without any words and could see their beautiful chemistry and feel it so strongly. Clois had the mature and easy love story but Clana had the best chemistry and most epic and tragic love story of the series.

reminds me of this one guy i use too know and he didn't tell me he loved me he played mind games and i didn't know he loved me then he pulled me aside at a roller blading rink and told to forget about it. But walking away from him that and then seeing him again their. It was the hardest thing i had to do standing the same room. I get the CLana love but i always thought he was always miserable with her, there's always fear and hesitation of being who he truly is because of her. I was not a Lana fan until season 8, took me a while to warm up to her. She really did great in season 8, I liked her new stronger personality. This might be an unpopular opinion. The way she devotes herself to Clark, almost as if he was a God. A bit ''crazy and cultish'' in a way, but it's sustained by their love and friendship, that it becomes acceptable. I was really rooting for Clana in season 8, can't say the same for the other seasons though.
You always remember your first love, and that is Lana in the story of Smallville. We all know that Clark ends up with Lois for some strange reason. I've yet to see a Lois that was better than Lana though.

The Lana Love Story is the opposite of the Lois one. Lana drains and draws him like Kryptonite. In the end making her actual Kryptonite was symbolic of who Lana was to Clark emotionally as well as physically through their entire ups and downs. Clark made Lana into the hero she became, even saving her from her evil Luthor side which is draining for someone who has to save the world. Lois was a completer. Even when she needed saving, she was never the damsel in distress like Lana was, even with powers. She lifted and empowered Clark where as Lana empowered Clark by breaking up with him umpteen million times. Lois knew Clark and her love always grounded Clark and centered him, becoming better through every up and down they faced.

Lana fell for Dark Clark in Bizzaro and the Phantom as well as Lex Luthor. Dont tell me she didnt break Clark's heart. Heck, even Chloe believed in Clark when she knew he was lying and keeping secrets because, as she put it, you dont really believe in someone if they have to explain everything as well as knowing that when he lied, it was to protect her, something Lana could never do nor comprehend. Clark and Lana had a Selfish love, she even admits it when she leaves in season 7. They never trusted each other. Clark had a selfless love with Lois. Somewhere here or maybe after this I expected (because it’s CW obsessed with melodramas) Lois to either A. Go at Lana’s face and tell her off about leaving Clark distraught and despaired. Or B. Lois gets word that Lana was leaving town again and tells her not to leave (of course she wouldn’t know about the circumstances between Clark and Lana). If it was the later I’d love to see Lana smile with tears in her eyes “he won’t be alone Lois, he has you.” Realizing Lana snd Clark are done.

Comics always do it better. They breakup cuz they're just hs sweethearts & are going in completely different directions. There's no love triangles, no they're together only to be cruelly ripped apart for the millionth time. They should've given them 2 or 3 whole seasons together before she realized she's holding him back, he won't accept his hero status as long as she's around thus she leaves for good. Leaving the door open for Lois to finally realize she's falling for him & inspire him to become Superman.
But this is smallville, this is about Clark Kent and not superman...so Lois should not even have been introduced this early. They should have only met at the Daily Olanet and this should have focuses on Lana an Clark as it did.

Lana was always flip flopping. Always breaking Clark's heart. He loved her dearly but it was a complicated painful sad type of first love. If I had to endure Clark crying over her one more time I would have quit smallville. Lana is so lost and it confuses Clark. He could never hit his full potential with her.
Clark was the one who kept breaking it off because he couldn't be honest with her...Lana made plenty of sacrifices with and for Clark which is more than anything Lois did. To add Clark couldn't reach his full potential because he was stubborn...Lana had nothing to do with that she always pushed him to be the man she always thought he could be.

I get it wasn't the right way to go about it but I understood her reasonings behind it...Once she gained powers again she learned how to control it she wasn't out for revenge she was focused on working with Clark and saving lives.

I may be alone with this opinion. But Lana became an annoying character halfway through the series. After she divorced Lex, she should've faded away. Sure, she was Clark's first love and they had sex. Then she goes off to Paris. She has a relationship with the football coach. Then Clark and her are back together. Then she has sex with Lex. Then Clark and her are back again. Lana became such an annoying part of the show that they couldn't let go of. Oh, not to mention that she's also the reason Johnathan dies because Clark can't get over her death. He traded his father's life for the woman who had sex with many of the main cast members. I think Clark should've dated more women, I was tired of Lana after about season 5. I liked Alicia, they should've kept her on for more episodes.

While they did love each other, Lana, even by the end of the show, was not the woman that was ready to be Clark's other half. Just one example, feel free to disagree. One scene that cements Lois as Clark's match. I'm going to write this just from memory so forgive me if it is not perfect. When Tess walks up to Lois in Watch Tower, and tells her that being a hero's wife, means accepting that hero's sacrifices. Lois looks straight into her eyes, and tells her that's where she's wrong. Being a hero's wife, means never accepting defeat. That sealed it for me.

As much as We all need to see Lana and Clark together, wanting a great story plus they were keeping to the comics story. Lana Lang was definitely a greatly appreciated and well loved character. I really liked the 1st episode I think where Clark kinda trips at the school and Lana says are you man or Superman. I wish there was a great Cast and skilled writers on another Show similar, That won't happen again in this lifetime. So far the shows out there just dont seem to have the spark or spirit that Smallville has and is still enjoyed by many to this day. Not all episodes are perfect but the story And Shows episodes proved that all the Acting cast was really accepted by a lot of us.
I guess you've not watch The Vampire Diaries and The Originals... One of the best cast and writer is also very skilled.

I feel that after knowing Clark & Lana’s love story, Louis & Clark does make sense anymore for me. I always knew and like Louis and Clark, they were meant to be, but knowing that there was once a Clark/Lana story, this changed everything for me. Love Clark & Lana 😩
I also loved Clark and Lois in other Superman movies like SnyderVerse, Comics etc but in this show writers messed up. If they really wanted that Clark should end up with Lois then they should end Clana in Season 2 but as they continued them to 8 seasons then they should have ended up together or at least provide us an alternate timeline where they do. For example in an alternate timeline In comics entitled "Superman Red Sun" Clark and Lana ended up together

I believed that to but the last 2 seasons made me realize that Lana and Clark were just not meant for each other. Lois and Clark’s relationship was much more positive compared to Lana and Clark’s relationship. I really did like clana in seasons 1-2 but after that it just didn’t seem the same anymore. In season 7 I thought it would work out between them because Lana finally knew about Clark’s secret but it was exact opposite. Lana’s hatred for lex was stronger than her love for Clark ( not that I don’t blame her after the horrible thing lex did to her) but it just shows that their relationship was overall just toxic I mean she couldn’t even tell the difference between bizarro and Clark so.

I can understand Louis and Clark because of the comics, and fans would've probably jumped on writers throat if they let Lana and Clark together jajajajaj BUT Tom's chemistry with Kristen is unmatched. Even the scene where he almost kisses Louis, the way he looks at her is like if he was a model posing for a camera, but when Lana appears, immediately his look changes and the actor always managed to perform the sweetest look with her. So, I blame the writers for expending so much time on Lana and Clark, knowing the end. YUP Tom and Kristin's chemistry was unmatched! It was insane how they could even have scenes without any words and could see their beautiful chemistry and feel it so strongly. Clois had the mature and easy love story but Clana had the best chemistry and most epic and tragic love story of the series.

I was not a Lana fan until season 8, took me a while to warm up to her. She really did great in season 8, I liked her new stronger personality. This might be an unpopular opinion. The way she devotes herself to Clark, almost as if he was a God. A bit ''crazy and cultish'' in a way, but it's sustained by their love and friendship, that it becomes acceptable. I was really rooting for Clana in season 8, can't say the same for the other seasons though.
You always remember your first love, and that is Lana in the story of Smallville. We all know that Clark ends up with Lois for some strange reason. I've yet to see a Lois that was better than Lana though.

No, the comics ARE the original story. What the writers SHOULD have done was to end Clark and Lana back in season 5 after high school ended. Chloe and Lois were more important to Clark by season 5. Lana nearly ruined Smallville.

I’m not saying he didn’t love Lois, but they never really had anything going for them other than a weird ass friendship for most of the series. It wasn’t until the last few seasons that Clark even started to have feelings for her. Clark’s feelings for Lois seemed so out of the blue and out of character for him, considering for the longest time throughout the whole series he seemed to wanna hurl at the thought of him and Lois together. But Clark always had strong feelings for Lana, and always chose her no matter what. Is it really that surprising that Lois would be a second choice compared to Lana?

The Lana Love Story is the opposite of the Lois one. Lana drains and draws him like Kryptonite. In the end making her actual Kryptonite was symbolic of who Lana was to Clark emotionally as well as physically through their entire ups and downs. Clark made Lana into the hero she became, even saving her from her evil Luthor side which is draining for someone who has to save the world. Lois was a completer. Even when she needed saving, she was never the damsel in distress like Lana was, even with powers. She lifted and empowered Clark where as Lana empowered Clark by breaking up with him umpteen million times. Lois knew Clark and her love always grounded Clark and centered him, becoming better through every up and down they faced.
Lana wasn’t breaking Clark’s heart, he was breaking hers! It’s annoying how y’all love to make him the victim in him and Lana’s drama. At the end of the day Lois is the second choice. He was forced away from Lana.

Clark had a selfless love with Lois. He learned from his mistakes and Lois learned from her relationship with Ollie and they strengthened each other--realizing the others needs and perceptions to each other and the world. He realized she needed to be in tje fray, so he trusted her by giving her assignments as the blur. Even when Lois found out, she waited for him to be comfortable in telling her. It was the very definition of a healthy, selfless relationship. That is just the facts.

Comics always do it better. They breakup cuz they're just hs sweethearts & are going in completely different directions. There's no love triangles, no they're together only to be cruelly ripped apart for the millionth time. They should've given them 2 or 3 whole seasons together before she realized she's holding him back, he won't accept his hero status as long as she's around thus she leaves for good. Leaving the door open for Lois to finally realize she's falling for him & inspire him to become Superman.

Lana was always flip flopping. Always breaking Clark's heart. He loved her dearly but it was a complicated painful sad type of first love. I may be alone with this opinion. But Lana became an annoying character halfway through the series. After she divorced Lex, she should've faded away. Sure, she was Clark's first love and they had sex. Then she goes off to Paris. She has a relationship with the football coach. Then Clark and her are back together. Then she has sex with Lex. Then Clark and her are back again. Lana became such an annoying part of the show that they couldn't let go of. Oh, not to mention that she's also the reason Johnathan dies because Clark can't get over her death. He traded his father's life for the woman who had sex with many of the main cast members. I think Clark should've dated more women, I was tired of Lana after about season 5. I liked Alicia, they should've kept her on for more episodes.

Clark and Lana should have ended in season 5 after high school ended. The way the writers handled Clark and Lana has to be one of the worst examples of comic book adaptation ever.
I often find those that hate Lana are bitter and old. And I’m usually right.
@@September_Rains No, the ones who hate Lana are rightly pointing out that the writers screwed up, and even Alfred Gough and Miles Millar now admit that the Lana critics were right and they should have ended that relationship sooner. Clark is supposed to end up with Lois. If you make Lana overshadow Lois on a show about how Clark Kent becomes Superman, you failed.

@@September_Rains And Smallville is an origin story for Superman. Also, Smallville is based on the Superboy comics, and Lana Lang in the comics was only a high school love interest, not a main love interest. She has no storyline with Clark after high school, which ended in season 4 on the show, so there was no reason to continue it in season 5, 6, or 7, and especially not season 8.

I read that Chloe character never existed in the Superman mythology and that Lana character in the Superman mythos was supposed to be his high school love interest that transitioned into being his best friend after high school. Obviously the show creators decided to split the original Superman’s Lana into 2 characters, his love interest Lana and his best friend Chloe.
The worst couple in the entire series. She was immature and selfish. She doubted Clark at every turn. The writers literally had to force them down our throats.

I don't know how you make up such a ridiculous argument but Lana literally married a man she disliked to save Clark's life. In an alternate timeline she died to protect Clark's secret from Lex. If sacrificing your life for someone you love is your definition of Selfish then I wonder what people in your life have to do to prove their affection for you... I am not a shipper and don't care who ends up with who in a TV show but I hate badly written characters and here Lois was badly written the writers just forced them to develop a relation. Lois was only here to make comic fans happy

I dont know what clark ever saw in her they made it seem like she was the prettiest girl in smallville high. If that was true smallville high had a pretty low opinion of itself. Lois only went there a month and she was more attractive than lana. And 100 percent less boring. If Martha and johnathan were there they would have been embarrrssed for Clark. And they would have snapped some sense into his head.
Lois is an old looking hag. No one believes she can pass for a high school student. 😂 Get bifocals, old man. You only like Lois because she dresses like a stripper all the times.
Lana/Kristin was in all the teen magazines back when Smallville aired on television. Plus she was voted the top 10 most beautiful women on television. Lois is an old looking troll compared to Lana. Lana is the reason many people watched the show.
@@Michael-rp5pv Lana lost a lot of weight in season 8 because she was in Thailand for over 2 months to make a movie. Lana/Kristin is still gorgeous today. Look up “Walk and Talk with Kristin Kreuk” posted September 2024.
