Sri Lanka wasn't discovered by Portuguese. But they rather invaded in a very round-about manner taking advantage of the turbulent time prevailed in 1505 CE. At that time Sri Lanka had a monarchial rule. Modern western province was in three principalities under three kings, all were siblings and had problems with father king. Up-country was under the rule of another king. Also, Sri Lanka has continuous written history of more than 2500 years and 193 kings including a few queens had ruled this land. It was one of the most prosperous developed country from 3rd century BCE up to 1505 CE. From this century onwards until she regained her independence grabbed by foreign powers were ruled by three western invasive imperialist powers, viz. Portuguese , Dutch and British. What we are today in this sorry situation is mostly due to those three invasive exploiters' ruthless rule

You had obviously a great day. In April till November there are less tourists cause it's off season for the west coast and during the hottest time of the day you also see less people. Since corona and the countries bankruptcy the number of foreign visitors is still too low. 🤞 for the future.
I really appreciate of your video. I believe that you never had felt any discrimination in my country while you've been there. Unfortunately as a sri lankan having dark skin, in european countries I feel very sad discrimination because of the skin color. I strongly believe that nobody discriminated you in my country because of your fair skin. But here in europe we're a problem. Most of citizens don't like to see us. Most of them disrespect us. We're mostly not treated as same as white people. Some sellers in the shops don't like to deal with us. Sometimes when I travel I couldn't find hotel rooms. Because they didn't like to provide their service to me. I have slept in railway stations. This is how we're treated in your countries. You show how you were treated in sri lanka.
Btw please don’t say “Sri Lanka was discovered by the Portuguese“. It was known to most of the world and traded with the Roman and Chinese empires since the ancient times. So Portuguese didn’t discover anything. Anyways great video! ❤
I was talking in regards to galle fort. Where the Portuguese first landed. Ofcorse the wording is wrong as the history dates back 100s of years before any colonisation of galle. But it definitely has a interesting history. Thanks for watching 😊❤️🇱🇰
@7 min mark, you've mentioned that Sri Lanka was discovered by Portuguese, I would correct that statement due in part since Sri Lankans lived in peace and harmony until the colonizer's arrived on the island, as a matter of fact Arab traders and the Chinese traders sailed to Sri Lanka way before the Portuguese, Dutch and the English. However, non of them colonized or invaded the nation, they respected the locals and traded in unison, yet the Europeans tuned the tide by changing what was once a pristine nation to a colonized nation. I am not placing blame on you, however that is how history was taught, favouring and showing bias for those who did not have a voice. We should learn from the past and communicate what really transpired in the four hundred years after the European arrived in Sri Lanka, or Serendib as it was once known by the Arabian trader.
These foreigners must make videos showing how they themselves treat foreigners in their home countries ... ! Friendly or hostile ... ? (I have travelled in 15 European countries 😮)
