One of the reasons I love this fight is because there was no real bullshit abilities from the villain this time. He's just THAT skilled.
I mean, look at the other major villains up to this point.
Alvida and Morgan were practically one-shot each.
The challenge was hitting Buggy.
Kuro was doing big indiscriminate attacks plus Jango was there for a short time at the start and Luffy's really susceptible to hypnosis.
Krieg had the armor, a crapton of weapons and poison gas attacks.
Arlong was able to fight using the water which Luffy can't deal with directly.
He couldn't win against Smoker and decided to just run.
Wapol wasn't all that big a threat to him directly.
Mr 3 and Miss Goldenweek were playing up his weakness to mental attacks.
Crocodile had a major home-field advantage, being the sand guy fighting in a desert kingdom during a drought, making water a precious resource in general.
He took out Bellamy in one hit.
Eneru was another Logia. While Luffy was the guy's natural weakness, Luffy did have to find a way around Mantra.
Aokiji was an Admiral at the time, and was designed to showcase just how dangerous they were.
Blueno was basically Hard-Mode Buggy at first, but went down quickly to Gear 2.
Then there's Lucci. No real gimmicks. He's good enough with the Six Arts to use their secret seventh skill. His animal claws basically render Luffy's immunity to blunt force null and void. He's fast, he's tough, and at the start of the fight, all he needed to do was drag the fight out. Once Franky got past him, he lost that advantage.
The problem Luffy had was getting Lucci to go down. The problem Lucci had was Luffy kept getting back up.

All of this is true. It makes sense this fight is considered one of the best if not the best fight in one piece both of them can be hurt by the other and it's pure skill and endurance to see who lasts longest.

With events in the current manga I gotta say Lucci’s biggest strength by far is his endurance, now he is fighting an opponent that if they got serious could put him down quickly, but they have to occupy him so he doesn’t cause more problems, while at the same time he is keeping that powerhouse occupied and unable to go help the others out.

Anyone else think these two will have fight in the future, it’s probably going to be even more incredible due to Luffy having the Gum-Gum true power at his disposal.

the amv is fine, but the title is wrong, franky did absolutely nothing beyond crossing the door to go for robin, the fight was solely and entirely between luffy and lucci

Disagree. You can clearly see Lucci and Franky attacking each other. So yeah, Franky joined the fight for a while, whether you like it or not.
