I don't know if he's fluent or not, but JLPT N1 doesn't automatically mean you are fluent. JLPT only tests passive skills (Kanji, Vocab, Grammar, Reading, Listening). You can definitely pass JLPT without being able to use the same information actively (Speaking fluently or Writing).
He translates some stuff for Natsuki during Paterson livestreams, and he’s always a bit stuttery and wobbly whenever he does. He’s freely admitted to being out of practice!
The Logan Paul situation hit me really hard because I recently spent 5 months in Japan and would bend head over heels to be as respectful and polite as possible. Not because I felt like I had to but because the Japanese people are so respectful to everyone that I thought I'd show them the same. It literally made me cry seeing how he acted in public there.

I think interviews require a lot of Keigo, which is really difficult because you never use it in day-to-day life. I'd personally be worried about making an offensive comment accidentally, especially when the subject is on a sensitive topic. If the interview was about something else, maybe then it'd be okay to just speak in non-Keigo and not worry about accidents.

MWKRider he's stated that he wanted to ensure that he doesn't make a mistake when providing his thoughts on the matter. He's fluent but doesn't feel confident enough for such a sensitive topic on Japanese national TV.
I think interviews require a lot of Keigo, which is really difficult because you never use it in day-to-day life. I'd personally be worried about making an offensive comment accidentally, especially when the subject is on a sensitive topic. If the interview was about something else, maybe then it'd be okay to just speak in non-Keigo and not worry about accidents.

i don't speak japanese so i tried using the subtitles option, it's so incomprehensiblei'd be better off trying to just understand the japanese being said. 4 minutes in with the youtube auto translate function trying it's best to translate whats being said the subtitles read "shave your grandmother dies about this pattern umekitajin utuber in the town was..." WHAT THE f###! is that supposed to mean? does anyone know where i can watch a version of this with subtitles that actually work?
