@uuuv that’s how the news works though. Would people care for TV ratings if there wasn’t controversy. I don’t like the bad light TH-camrs get but if you think of it from the TVs business standpoint, it makes total sense.
I said the same thing, on the original TH-cam post of the clip, and someone kindly explained that it was due to Japanese sentence construction, covering what Chris had to say in a shorter time.
The Logan Paul situation hit me really hard because I recently spent 5 months in Japan and would bend head over heels to be as respectful and polite as possible. Not because I felt like I had to but because the Japanese people are so respectful to everyone that I thought I'd show them the same. It literally made me cry seeing how he acted in public there.
Grant Cirks First, the Suicide Forest made me upset. I didn't see the other clips until later. That really pissed me off. I was actually angry, and I've never been to Japan once. It's just the fact that anyone would behave like that in ANY country-especially a foreign country.
I appreciate that the Japanese culture teaches respect at its foundation, and because of that, people tend to be nice first, and that creates a waterfall of being nice & respectful all around. I won't even give the kid credit by looking for/watching his video. If only he could be shamed; if only this didn't further promote this kind of action by others...
I know exactly what you mean. I studied abroad for 3 months and became so mindful in setting a positive impression on everyone I met. "You might be someone's first foreign encounter" I was told and that resonated with me.
I really appreciate this program decided to highlight positive youtubers. Many people might not know that there are people making good, fun, and educational content that don't disrespect and bother people. So glad you were featured!!
glad they had something like this on TV in Japan - letting other TH-camrs weigh in on him and let Japanese viewers know they/we don't think any of his behavior was in any way acceptable, and further, that most YTers are genuinely good, respectful people with quality content on their channels.
Too bad the young folks over there don't care about these shows. I remember a separate video I think by Logan himself showing off his legion of young Japanese fans when he was over there.

I can see why Chris was a little embarrassed and nervous by this. He puts a lot of effort usually on how he presents himself and now this TV show view by everyone in Japan is going to have full control, and not to mention he being presented next to Logan Paul.
I am too lazy to translate the whole thing but TLDW, it starts off saying Japanese utube/partnership will go even stricter on violence and offensive languages shown on videos. (probably youtube globally) due to the recent logan paul incident. Then briefly shows how much logan is making and his networth (thru his house). Then goes interviewing several foreign utubers in shibuya area/other areas. I’m really glad this program chose to show some examples of the many good youtubers who are respectful and provide an excellent way for people around the world to learn about Japan. As an American, I was so frustrated and embarrassed by the Logan Paul videos. Unfortunately he got more attention than any other J-vlogger, but at least programs like this help to give Japanese people a more accurate picture of foreign youtubers.
Haha, I did have a thought actually that the whole Logan Paul malarkey happened very soon after your 'Things to not do in Japan' video. The timing almost seems planned. New theory, Logan Paul works for Chris Broad.
Awesome that they decided to interview you chris but was wondering how come you always give interviews in English? Do they ask you to do it so you can give them the maximimum British foreigner experience?
Stuart Carter I've actually heard many Japanese say this same thing on why they want to learn English. Interesting...and sad...when the reason you want to learn a new language is so you can be better understood than you are in your native tongue.
captn R Yeah, though that could simply be to just have a notch on their belt of knowing the language :) I started learning German for a time though I have little desire to visit Germany, lol.
Fluffymiyster true, if you want to visit a country and learn the most important stuff, that's a good thing to do. Good luck with your studies on the German language, I'm actually from Germany staying in Japan right now :D
Finally a day watching anime for 12 years pays off enough to sort of understand what is said in between the English!! And I'm Canadian so I sort of got the French too!
I love that they actually asked foreigners about this so that it could be shown that many other foreigners were disgusted by him. Also...the weather and time constantly being on the screen like that is highly annoying :/
The Mighty Skadiddle The US does the weather and time thing too but it's less intrusive, like it's part of the ticker at the bottom or its in a corner.
Depending on the smooth voice, he says "watch this awesome american youtuber throwing pokeballs at our people and filming suicide victims, what a great and funny guy. Please come back again soon, Logan-san. Sugoi." Srsly, those ppl need more emotions outside anime...
Balmung God no, in most anime emotions are way too exaggerated. Also, I don't know if you noticed, but there is this thing called sarcasm. And, judging the entire population of a country based on one person isn't intelligent, so please try not doing that next time.
I'm really glad they did this because they're showing to all Japanese people that not all foreigners are going to act up like Logan did and that foreigners living in Japan are siding with Japanese people and stand for respect for their culture that they deserve. I say just ban the kid from ever coming back into Japan. That wasn't a mistake if he did it CONTINUOUSLY. People can't just say "oh he made a mistake get over it" no no he insulted everyone in every aspect of his trip. Thanks to people like him there are going to be EVEN MORE bans for tourists in certain places in Japan. Example, the fish market.
I like to imagine the reporter went to every foreigner they found and just asked “ARE YOU TH-camR?”

drojf Yeah, that makes sense. Good point. :)
well tbf american documentary programs does same edit to japanese or other minor language interview, but no one notice that.
4:02 “Catch Me If You Can” by Taisei Iwasaki!!! From the Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen) OST! I absolutely adore that show it was cool to hear that!
Chris literally looks like a gag character being on camera with the Japanese text at the bottom.
i love the kamen rider music over clips of logan paul
I’m really glad this program chose to show some examples of the many good youtubers who are respectful and provide an excellent way for people around the world to learn about Japan. As an American, I was so frustrated and embarrassed by the Logan Paul videos. Unfortunately he got more attention than any other J-vlogger, but at least programs like this help to give Japanese people a more accurate picture of foreign youtubers.
I love how thwy make TH-camrs put their cameras on the back to show that theyre indeed youtubers
Haven't clicked so fast in my life.
The music and sound effects are wild
Their casual news is just a Dynasty Warriors Music and Sounds compendium
The Ex-Aid OST at 0:32 caught me off a bit, lmao.
Is that the poster or just recycling from Asahi?
Not gonna lie, the songs in the beginning kinda slap hard! \m/
Haha, I did have a thought actually that the whole Logan Paul malarkey happened very soon after your 'Things to not do in Japan' video. The timing almost seems planned.
New theory, Logan Paul works for Chris Broad.
Kantan Japan or does Chris Broad work for Logan Paul? 🤔🤔
Hell no! Chris would kill LP, chop his body up into pieces proper and stuff in in freezers in his apartment Japanese style!!
Oh common let's not even lump that idiot with Chris Abroad he is wayyy cool for Logan Paul
he wouldnt put him in the freezer, he would put him in the Electric Box!
Logan is not even qualified to clean his toilet, that half wit
Ah, yes, the infamous "Are you TH-camr?" video. Lovely!

i like imagining that at 4:24 the presenters were playing a game where whoever found a youtuber first won

Fluffymiyster wow and then there are people who want to learn Japanese even though they don't have any permanent business in Japan...
captn R Yeah, though that could simply be to just have a notch on their belt of knowing the language :) I started learning German for a time though I have little desire to visit Germany, lol.
Stuart Carter That would be my best guess but I personally don't speak much Japanese to confirm that but I've heard similar statements.

Came here because of the first episode of the Abroad in Japan podcast, not disappointed
I love that they actually asked foreigners about this so that it could be shown that many other foreigners were disgusted by him. Also...the weather and time constantly being on the screen like that is highly annoying :/
Yeah, I liked it too that they let foreigners give a piece of their mind.
And about the weather and time thing...that's morning tv for ya, lol.
The Mighty Skadiddle The US does the weather and time thing too but it's less intrusive, like it's part of the ticker at the bottom or its in a corner.
Fluffymiyster different TV culture mate
I didn't notice till you mentioned the time
Who are you talking about?
2:45 "Are you youtuba!!!" I died lmao
A translation would be nice :D
Depending on the smooth voice, he says "watch this awesome american youtuber throwing pokeballs at our people and filming suicide victims, what a great and funny guy. Please come back again soon, Logan-san. Sugoi."
Srsly, those ppl need more emotions outside anime...
Balmung God no, in most anime emotions are way too exaggerated. Also, I don't know if you noticed, but there is this thing called sarcasm. And, judging the entire population of a country based on one person isn't intelligent, so please try not doing that next time.
I don't know if you noticed, but there is this thing called sarcasm.
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode when the news make it sound like Homer is confessing to the crime with hilariously bad editing.
I never noticed until now that Kekai Sensen music XD
Abroad in Japan : 2 steps forward
Logan Paul: 10 steps back
