In 2003, I bought an overseas VCD of this movie, not knowing what it was. I was so blown away that I dragged my martial arts friends to see it, and they were gobsmacked. This sequence is a masterpiece.
well done warrior at the first time i saw him in 2004 years past but still he is the one he still can kick many fighters without losing a bit of it.thanks. (:
Still one of the best, most authentic fighting movies ever. When I first watched it, it was in the middle of the night. I didn't know what it was about but gave it a try. And I'm still glad I did. Think I need to watch it again
This sounds exactly how me and my cousins found this movie. We was bored trying to find something to watch and we laughed at the name of it and said "ehh why not" little did we know we was going to be blown away by it. Good times
La musica, todo fue genial de este epico encuentro, el tipo drogandose para adquirir super poderes... Sin duda em esta oelicula salio el nuevo bruce lee de nuestros tiempos.
Tony of course did it wihout a stunt double, but bad guys didn't. This final boss' stunt double also played Toshiro's in the fighting arena for example. He literally was everywhere in the Ongbak series to be hit by Tony haha
I am always amazed by this fight and find this part 3:15 so funny. Fuckin' guy drop kicks him out of nowhere haha! So much love for this movie and Tony Jaa!!
Nope. It's Muay Boran. Muay Thai is a mixture of Muay Boran and Boxing. Muay Boran is traditional fighting and it uses head as a weapon also. I've trained Muay Thai and we never trained forms the way Tony Jaa displayed in this movie. But regardless, both are deadly arts.
@@muththan3491 You do realize Muay Thai is a mixture of Muay Boran and Boxing, right? I've trained Muay Thai and there's no reason to disrespect boxing. Without Boxing, Muay Thai would've never been founded. Muay Thai was founded because King Rama wanted to create a sport without needing to nearly kill each other with hemp rope wrapped around their forearms and fists, which can cause severe concussion. Muay Thai implemented modern equipments such as boxing gloves and ring stage and training regimen from boxing such as rounds and conditioning. Taekwondo, while not an art to rely on for fighting against experienced fighters, can attribute a lot to kicking techniques. At my gym, there were plenty of black belt TKD practitioners who cross-trained into training Muay Thai and they were able to synthesize useful kicking techniques from TKD and implement it into their second nature technique as they trained Muay Thai and filter out useless techniques and start discovering useful kicking techniques they acquire from TKD and condition them. I've trained Muay Thai but I was never able to proficiently pull spinning back kick or roundhouse kicks easily or even axe kicks and I've trained Muay Thai for 5 years. Don't believe me? Check out Anthony Pettis, Cung Le, Cro Cop, Rose Namajunas, Edson Barboza, etc, even Anderson Silva(although he's well-rounded fighter mixture of all arts from tkd, capoeira, judo, bjj, muay thai, etc but he started off with TKD and he pulled easy TKD front kick on Vitor Belfort). You will notice that lot of them has solid kicks. Muay Thai is an art of 8 limbs where you can punches, elbows, knees, and kicks but as you train all of them, you will develop your forte based on what you proficiently can do. Some can elbow + punch efficiently more, some can punch and kick mostly but rarely knee and elbow unless they find an opportunity to, some can elbow and knee more efficiently than punching and kicking, some can kick and knee more efficiently, etc. Former TKD guys tend to always have kick as their forte. So no, it's not "lesser" than Muay Thai. It's got its pros and cons. But TKD just happen to have lot of cons due to heavy emphasis on kicking, neglecting other striking aspects of fighting, having too many mcdojos, easily handing out belts while using belt system for financial purposes while Muay Thai is straight forward and you don't need belts to prove yourself. Your skills and fight record speak for themselves. Every art has its flaws. Muay Thai's only flaw is they do not grapple besides clinching, which is why many MMA fighters implement BJJ, Wrestling, and/or Judo.
After Ong Bak, Tony Jaa rocketed to stardom but nothing much was heard about the villain fighting him in that scene. He did 2 more movies and then he disappeared from public eye
Ong-Bak. Still the best martial art movie in 2020.

It's because the imagery stimulates the dormant seeds within your mind, to fight. It's just a feeling.
Which is why you need to control your urges. That’s wat warriors do
