  • The London System can be answered with numerous different setups. One of them is the aggressive Dutch Defense setup with an early f5. In this video I will go over plans for white and black in such positions.

The Dutch Defense is characterized by black playing f5, and grabbing important kingside space before developing his pieces. This pawn provides an excellent outpost in the attack (on e4), and it allows the knight to come to f6 without blocking the f pawn. In the normal Dutch, black usually goes for a quick attack, and will accept different strategic or positional disadvantages in order to create attacking chances.
Against the London System, that is much easier to do. The London is much more solid, and the attack is not as quick, which makes Dutch players frustrated (I think), since they are used to using time and quality of pieces as soon as possible to destroy white. London versus Dutch setups creates much slower positions, though.
In this video I have gone over the theoretical positions and plans for both sides.
