I remember I talked to Zach at the New York pop up and asked him for advice about running a brand and organizing an event. We chatted for 15 minutes and he gave me lots of wisdom and encouraged me a ton. I gave him a t shirt from my label as a thank you. Since then my own brand has slowly grown and I’m already doing my second pop up shop next week. That 15 minute conversation has stuck with me and I regularly look towards Basketcase as a model I try to emulate the spirit of. It’s wild to see how much Basketcase has grown and it will continue to serve as an inspiration for me and lots of kids across the globe 🤞🏼
thats crazy man he even follows you. I just launched my first drop a week ago and its so inspiring watching these videos and seeing people like you comment. good luck with your brand man hope it goes huge
First purchase for me was back in 2018 and I've got to say, I never would of expected basketcase to have come this far in quality within only two years, truely one of the most insightful brands to come out of current age streetwear. With recycling and repurposing vintage clothes to give them a new life, a wonderful trend that I love to see more and more of everyday, just so happens to be very fitting for our current year. Heres to two more great years for basketcase and more chances for old clothes to be born new once again. 🥂🥂
Basket case as a whole is the most inspiring brand/design team on the market right now you can’t get the same vintage feel or vision from anyone else. This is the only brand that really catches my eye and that really shows how dedicated they are to making the fashion world as diverse as possible whether it’s simple everyday pieces to pieces that stand up to what our societies cultural normalities are. Basketcase is for everyone that sees themselves as something more then just a sheep controlled by basic societal views
I love that watching this video gives me the same feelings that I get from looking at the clothes: youthful, classic, and free. Big thanks for everything you guys do, been my favorite group to watch grow.
The fact that this all started with a group of college students and now they have over 50k followers... been watching this brand grow for the past 2-3 years but being 100% was hesitant to buy from them until about a year ago. Since then... haven’t turned back. It’s amazing how they’re holding onto their foundational values and you can tell theyre grateful for everything they have... you can tell it means a lot more than just money when it comes to the execution of their drops... quality fire, customer service fire, written letters with every package are u kidding me?? fire. stickers/posters.. fire.
Y’all literally changed my whole outlook on street wear. Thank you for inspiring me and giving the community something fresh and authentic. You’ve quickly become my favorite clothing brand and your customer service and quality is unmatched. When I received my clothes for the first time and unboxed it i was amazed by the packaging and attention to detail. You included a free tote, stickers AND a photo print that I now have hung up on my wall. I’ve now purchased something from every drop since then. You’ve earned yourself a LOYAL customer! ❤️ P.S- Im wearing my Rudy shirt while typing this :)
The Gentle Art Of the Beauty that Zach creates with this brand and with his vision. this isnt just a brand, i see it as a culture and a community. all designs are so inspiring to me and seeing what basket case puts out makes me want to stop everything im doing and get back to the grind of designing my own stuff. this video is beautiful and as is the brand as a whole. its inspiring hearing zachs inspirations and seeing his creativity. incredible.
This feels going to my son’s basketball game, phone dead so I’m forced to watch and pay attention... and realizing that he really has NBA potential 🙌🙌 can’t wait to see where you continue to take the brand 🏆
Zach, not sure the chances of you seeing this but man the evolution of BASKETCASE has been incredible. My first piece I picked up from you was the BMW shirt from a lil while back...just picked up a sweatshirt, tote, and hat from the most recent drop. Missed out on the repurposed vintage (would love to see another drop of those I’d literally empty my bank account). I loved the comment about sampling. Definitely holds true to your brand imo. Let me know if you ever need someone to produce some music for the content you put out. It’d truly be an honor. Look forward to seeing more of these videos!
Basket gallery has gone above and beyond and is at a level that is unmatched , you have inspired me and many many others ! That’s right there not many brands can do that, Thankful for the buisness ive done with your brand , lmk if y’all need anything if y’all around OC cali, hope y’all grow your brand faster than ever before. peace and love BC
Found Basketcase back in April on Instagram. Every collection is so authentic and you can tell time and effort goes into it. So cool how inspiration is sourced from deeply important things like art or philosophy and sometimes nothing significant at all. I heard an interview with Virgil where he was talking about what drives his label (Off-White) and he mentions creating something for the “tourist and the purist”. I think the guys at Basketcase completely embody that concept. Never really thought I could get so inspired by clothing or the people who make them. These collections definitely drive me to create.
Much respect to your research and design team. Love the correlation between sampling music and the re interpretation of old ideas into creating something new and fresh.
Loved hearing Jean in the beginning of the video , can’t wait to see where you guys will take the brand in the creative aspect as well as silhouettes . Much love for the brand !
Videos like these always stick with me because Since I’m starting my own line of clothing for my brand I can see the same process that I’m going through and remembering how to create a piece from reference points/ ideas that I have
The intro to the video states “Whatever you want, you can have”. I felt like this was a really good opener since it sets the tone pretty nicely for the rest of the video. Zach seems to “want” the brand to resemble his character. This is evident when he ultimately addresses the audience for the brand as people like him. The brand is described as people who are freed by not following conventional norms in order to create, or simply creating to create. So Zach must be searching for an outlet to create without caring or validating others opinions on it, and settled with the brand basket case. Photography, design ideas, and treating people like family are implemented here thoroughly. The last one, treating people like family, was apparent when the note saying “humanity” was pictured at 4:06. I also liked how you guys donated the 10k to BLM that really did showcase your humanity :). Oh yeah and the clothes, almost forgot about that. Sourcing inspiration from old reference pieces such as magazines, yearbooks, or clothing makes pieces appear more sentimental and meaningful. A few of my favorite motifs from you guys are the Jesus print, horse and cowboy, the child by the sea, the dogs on the leash, and the basketball player’s hands by the rim. I think these go hand in hand with what you said about trying to find the gray area between two pieces. You take timeless pieces such as denim or a variety jacket (which are also functional and fashionable) and add a touch of innovation and creativity to a seemingly lackluster piece otherwise. I say “seemingly” because of your attention to both silhouette and color, which makes pieces stand out even without graphics. For silhouette, I noticed a lot of your pieces have varying sizes, such as the cropped zip up hoodie or the oversized varsity or the more lean M.C. Escher referenced tee. For color, I admire the use of multiple dyes to achieve a sun bleached affect on hoodies such as the BLANCH one. Or, the multiple screens for the Madonna jacket to make the color pop just perfectly. Repurposing vintage in small drops also establishes your brand well in perhaps forgotten articles of clothing. Sometimes I do see basket case as a revival of sorts to vintage clothing as well as graphics. For your collections as a whole, I liked hearing how they were based upon feelings at a distinct point in a span of only four weeks. I feel as though this nomadic approach to both ideas and incorporating them into design really varies the outcomes of the clothing and doesn’t limit you to only a single goal or method of creating. Apart from that, I enjoy the little collages you make for every drop. It really shows the amount of effort and inspiration that goes into them. Furthermore, sharing the scraped ideas with notes you have showcases how you try to grow from unincorporated ideas/designs. The behind the scenes pictures provided also make the viewer feel more involved in the brand as well, especially when you include the mini posters from various shoots. This of course ties back to the brand wanting its customers to feel like they are part of a family. Overall, I just think it’s really inspiring to just start something for the sake of creation and continue to grow without separating from that mentality. Lastly, from 3:00-4:28, the background music really reminds me of the song milk and honey from the Her soundtrack which is random but ye. Alright well I think that about sums up my thoughts, can’t see what you guys continue to develop into~
Love this brand. I love the clothes obviously but supporting a group of people trying to stand out from huge chain clothing stores and work out the minut details in designs are what keeps me coming back. Keep killing it, don’t stop
You guys inspire me a lot. I really wish I lived in la so I could work with you guys and help create of the coolest pieces. If you ever venture out to atl, I’m here ready to be a part of the movement
In the simplest of terms, this makes me proud to be from Los Angeles. Excited to see the growth of this brand and the way that you will continue producing art.
Basket case really always brings it to the table when it comes to creativity I’m always waiting with excitement and anticipation for there drops. But what I think they say for new and upcoming designers is that with enough passion hard work and effort anything can become reality
Your brand is such a inspiration to me man and to see you make videos about your brand makes me happy love your clothes bro keep doing what yo do best🤧
best brand out there atm. starting to look at basket case as an investment. bought a few pieces and the quality doesn’t deteriorate at all. love your shit zach keep it up
Tbh this was mad inspiring, I met you at Agenda back in 2017 or 2018 handing out totes one by one that you just had on you. Interested in the Iteration of how you you’re making this brand for you essentially, cuz that’s what we do it for right?

The evolution of this brand is also so quick and insane, it's like every drop just gets better and better
Basketcase is a different kind of unfiltered raw creativity. Straight from the mind into the world.

Love the rawness and elegance at the same time of the brand. This video really shows that. I always tell my friends this is elegant streetwear

basketcase is a great representation of less equals more. simplicity and great branding
I didn’t know what nihilism meant until after I bought the shirt. When you love something, you go get it, you don’t wait to figure stuff out.
4:11 song ?
Anyone knows where he gets his loafers from?
So does basket case sell used clothing and put their name or graphics on it?
"this is what I made because I like it", it's also what I buy... because I like it
@5.45 i felt that
zach kinda reminds me of kermit the frog ... in a good way :)
“I make clothes for the cool hipster” oh wait, I am the cool hipster
It's always "when is my order shipping" never "when are you restocking the army shorts."
So was that guy photoshopping a tat on your eternal thorax tshirt?
Da minion or da bob
