      Nice video for kids with nice demonstration suitable for a fancy school science project. Your videos are usually technically accurate, however in this one I feel your explanation and demonstration for WHY diesel produces more soot and NOx was not very detailed or accurate, missing out on a lot of critical and major points.

    Boss, I'm a huge fan of your channel. Great job. Aana, inga complex problem'ah over simplify pannareenga.
    1. Compression ignition vs spark ignition concept mention kooda pannala.
    2. Torque curve patthi oru episode podunga and explain why we use diesel engines for heavy duty (torque intensive) purposes. Appo diesel ah ban pannita how will we transport groceries from koyambedu to alandur ?
    3. Neenga romba rudimentary examples kodukkarenga. Diesel engines in the west have improved tech like EGR, turbo, SCR, DPF, DOC , urea dosing etc. to improve emissions. Please explain to viewers why we dont use those clean tech in India and why we are 20yrs behind in diesel technology.
    4. Also, Diesel, petrol and LPG subsidies patthi oru episode cover pannunga. Engineering and economics always go hand in hand. ;)

      Answer to 2. Our government should start researching on Electrical Vehicles such as the truck that TESLA invented ?

    • @vicky1by0
      @vicky1by0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fake Person , we call that as leapfrogging . Meaning, we ship many steps and go direct to modern tech. Like some villages skipped CFL lamps and went straight to LED. Electric truck is a futuristic technology. At present it wont hit US market till 2020. Then some time for the tech to mature enough to be cost efficient to India . Also its not just about manufacturing trucks, we need infrastructure like charging stations, electricity etc.. It will be a long while before it hits Indian market. That being said, government can change things by allocating more funding for in-house R&D and develop India specific solutions for India. But to everyones disappointment our present modus operandi is copying tech from west which will only leave us with getting tech 20yrs after it matures in west.

    Bro There are several updations in Diesel engines like Multi point fuel injection systems and turbocharging the air inlet so that we can minimise the amount of diesel that gets partially burned... but still emission is more in diesel but we have improved way more from the start..

  • @vekash485
    @vekash485 6 ปีที่แล้ว +97

    It is impossible. I can bet you. You are doing the experiment wrong. Diesel does not ignite using spark plug or any other external igniter. Diesel has auto ignition temperature so when you compress using piston if the temperature reaches 210°c diesel gets ignite. Diesel has 3-4 times higher hydrocarbon chain when compare to petrol so diesel is more efficient. If you compare a royal Enfield diesel 350 and petrol 350 both are having same stroke size but diesel one give 60-65 milage, 6.5hp and petrol one give 40-45, 19hp. HP is for speed and torque is for load pulling. Almost evey truck and load pulling vehicle are running in diesel

    • @abdurrules
      @abdurrules 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      up to down valid point. But why do diesel engines emit more smoke.

    • @abdurrules
      @abdurrules 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      up to down also why do F1 cars use petrol. If I am not wrong, F1 cars have more priority on performance right

    • @ragingpotato7050
      @ragingpotato7050 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @up to down , The experiment was how to demonstrate the emission by Diesel, what you say is right, But you cant compress diesel with the materials that he has right (Within that plastic bottle)?? Think about it.

    Hi Prem, I keep watching almost all your episodes. Thanks for them.
    Most of your explanation in this episode ia true but it does not do a decent comparison. Both diesel and petrol has closer stochiometric ratio, that means require same amount of oxygen(air) to burn completely. When you do this experiment with this consideration, it should have almost same output. This does not hold good for IC engines achieve combustion differently for both the fuels. Only due to this difference diesel engine produces more NOx as more air is used to produce combustible temperature which in turn has more O2 to react with N2. With recent advancements, diesel engines are producing significantly less NOx, less particles . Hope you are too.

      Gravity increases with the size of the body, not the shape. Everything(every mass particle) in the universe has gravity, even you and me. Since we are small, our gravity is negligible(almost zero).
      Earth has an iron core, which has magnetic property. This is the reason for earth's magnetic field. It prevents harmful solar winds from hitting us. It is also the reason for Northern Lights(Aurora Borealis).

    Good work LMES team. The prototype you used for experiment really explained the work behind. I have a comment here. With technologies available currently in modern engines like turbocharger, and after treatment systems diesel exhaust is also as clean as gasoline. when it comes out of tail pipe. Hence please don't create panic amongst public about the ban of diesel. Your experiment was right, but change the title of the video.

    But you have learn now a days what technologies are introduced in diesel engines,like CRDI, Turbocharged intercooler,few filters in exhaust line to reduce carbon and other dangerous gases emission

    Hi
    Really appreciate your efforts for all these videos it is really awesome.
    One suggestion can you please add a caption this experiment should happen in adult supervision for these kind of experiments. As most of the kids and youth are following your TH-cam channel. Once again appreciated all your efforts all the best.

    I agree and support your efforts to understand science easily. I had query that why we need to ban diesel engine.. is it due to high emission of carbon? I also got to know that carbon emission is not a environmental issue..and not a reason for global warming. Then why we should ban diesel engine? Is it because those carporate has to sell high prized battery cars or any other vehicles?

    SCR or diesel particulate filter (DPF) aftertreatment systems reduce NOx and HC in higher rate its a current rule followed in EURO NORM 6. IT WILL BE A BETTER OPTION RATHER THAN PROHIBITING DIESEL ENGINES, TRANSPORTATION AND GOODS CARRIER WILL IMPINGE A LOT #LMES

    Dear premanand,
    Your content is correct. But this experiment doesn't make the diesel to burn. Because diesel doesn't require any spark for combustion. Due to compression it gets ignited. We didn't make that much of compression with this plastic bottles. I hope you will correct this in future videos.
    Thanks and Regards

      As he knows this much about Internal combustion engines, he knows that too. Hope he made that spark voluntarily for other's understanding. There is nothing to correct in future. " Sun rises in the East and sets in West" - it may not make sense, but it opens up some idea about sun.

    Anna , en peru GOWTHAM , na oru Mechanical Engineer , from COIMBATORE, SPEED is inversely proportional to TOURQE , oru athika edai eluka DIESEL engine tha more efficiency ketaikum, but in PETROL engines speed tha irukum aana torqe irukathu. and one more thing still now some DIESEL engine companies will maintaining their amount of carbon gas contant from the exast champer. but nama tha automobile ah sariya maintain panndrathu illa. indepth ah solla pona , THERMODYNAMICS and FRICTION forces involve aairuku. Even petrol engines la varum carbon gas much danger than the diesel engines , athu enna na neenga normal la pathurupinga .. some petrol bikes and cars la irunthu some blue smoke gas varum (littel bit of wight color and smell like coconet thengai ya erucha varum gas smell maari irukum.) .
    petrol and air ah ennatha comparuse pannanum engine la self ah burn aagathu Spark thevai padum . but Diesel ah air kuta comparese panna self burning process nadakum.
