"Chili cheese Coney all the way"!! EVERYtime you said "James Coney Island" I could taste it!! And yes! Texture is a big part of this dish! Thank you for your chili recipe! I'm a long way from their Sharpstown and Galleria locations now - so your version is going on my weekend menu!! Thank you!!!! ♥
Galleria location closed a year or 2 ago. So sad!!😭 the last one I went to was Meyerland Plaza. Don’t know if it’s still there. So happy to have this recipe for our traditional New Year’s Eve lunch. 🌭 😊
OH MY GOSH!!!!!! I lived in Houston for 18+ years and Jamed Coney Hot Dogs at least once a week (the location was on the I 45 Frwy, near Almeda) The BEST Hot Dogs ever! I can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you for sharing. Love your channel. Been watching for years. Your beef enchiladas are my family's favorite. Love you
I am an H-Town girl! I live in Austin now and miss JCI. I used to drop in and get frozen bricks of chili to make at home. Now I don’t have to travel to get it. Thanks so much for sharing. Can’t wait to try it out. 😊
The same. We would stop at the same Northside location and get boxes of cheese coneys. I would always get a bowl of chili with extra onion with my order. Can't wait to try it this weekend. The JC's open now just don't taste the same.
I live in Houston! The Missouri City area and I love James Coney Island hot dogs!! Yours look delicious and look just like a James Coney Island hotdog. I can’t wait to make these at home! Love the cheese sauce, the chili and the onions too!! Thanks for the recipe!!
Ooh girl you are making my mouth water because James Coney Island chili is the best I’ve ever had from a fast food joint!! I miss them for sure!! Thank you for the memory and the recipe!! Blessings.
Love James Coney chili dogs. I live south of Houston and we have a restaurant off I 45 and we stop in a few times a year. Love them. Thanks for the recipe!
Hi A.!!! I like a good quality hot dog. And a Chili Dog is even better. My Daughter went to Sam's Club today. I asked her to bring me a hot dog home and some Sauerkraut packets. Well...they had none cooked when she checked out...Your dogs look mighty delicious to me. I'm so...hungry for one or two of these. I will give your recipe a try for sure...YUMS!!!...Great Video!!!...🦋
Yes it was a special time with the fam in the early 60’s. I am going make this as you say, sure looks like the ones I remember, sure they taste better than we remember! Thank you❤xoxo
I grew up in Dallas and I never heard of James Coney Island. We had White Kastle and we never went there. My parents had their favorite restaurants and that's where they took us. I didn't grow up eating pizza, Italian, Chinese, the only cultural food was Mexican occasionally. My mom cooked what she and my dad were raised on. We did have hot dogs occasionally but with ketchup or mustard.
James Coney Island is my Favorite fully loaded with Chili, The runny cheese or Cheeze Wiz and lots of onions. I grew up in the same town as you! I can wait to see how you make a copy Kat recipe.😁😋😉
Never had a James Coney Island, but I did enjoy the Sonic version of chili cheese dog. I just crave them occasionally! The Sonic by my house closed this year, so I definitely will be trying this recipe! I'm sure it is better than the Sonic version! Thank you! I certainly enjoy your channel!
SO happy you’ve made this video because I looove a chili dog, but I’ve never known how to make the chili for it. I make chili all the time but it’s loaded with ingredients so it’s nothing you’d put on a hot dog. This looks so good!
When we were young and drive thru Tulsa Oklahoma my Step dad grew up there and we would always stop at Corney Island Hot Dogs...best hot dogs there is a Coney Island Hot Dog place in Downtown Oklahoma City...watching this made me hungry!
I love onions of all kinds and I can eat them like an apple, I love chili dogs from the World Famous Tommy's Hamburgers in California they don't have The hamburger stand in any other State and I would get at least one every day on my way to work.
Wow! Northline Mall! That was a long time ago! There was some kind of carnival that would come set up over there and my family would always go! It was a lot of fun! I remember there was a building that was higher on the ends than the middle. I would always refer to the mall as the one by the broken-back building! 😆 This looks delish! Gonna have to try it! Thanks for sharing! ❤
I love chili cheese dogs. I used to fix them a lot when my kids were little. Haven't had one in years but watching this reminds me of how delicious they are 😋
Looks delicious. From the south and we love hot dogs with chili, mustard, and onions. Slaw and cheese is great also. Make homemade dogs all the time. TFS the chili recipe❤
The Galleria location closed a year or so ago. So sad!! The last James Coney Island I went to last year was Meyerland Plaza. Don’t know if it’s still there. Thank you for this recipe! I’m going to surprise my family this year with James coney chili dogs on NYE day lunch, a longtime family tradition. 🌭
I love hot dogs. My favorite method is steaming the dogs until they are plump then grill or saute to brown the outside. Thank you for this recipe. Going to try this chili recipe next time.
I’m going to make these for me and my husband this Sunday, they just look so darn delicious omg! Anything with Velveeta cheese sauce is a GO TO! I can’t eat really about everything especially a coney cheese dog but growing up in Marshall MI you’ll know what I’m talking about, the Hi-Lite Drive In!! Opened every year with the best chili cheese dogs or just a cheese dog with Onion Rings regular or crispy either way they were deliriously the best! Topped off with Frosty Root Beer Mugs, omg!! They always opened Memorial Day Weekend and closed on Labor Day…. It’s gotten quite expensive the last ❤ten years but, you just gotta have it at least opening day and closing day🥳🥰🤗
Gonna have to try this. I was a lifelong JCI fan until the day they all faded away so started making my own. I use easy cheese because when I worked there back in high school the cheese came out of a pressurized gun and looked like canned easy cheese. I'm gonna try your method though because I always want it to be meltier.
I dislike hotdogs but I like chili, I'll just pour it over rice. Also, I'm a Mexican married to an Asian. More common in Ca. Where I'm from but I'm curious how you met your husband.
I don’t like chili…actually I’ve never had any kind of chili (neither has my sister or her other two kids) _but_ one of my nephew’s loves it on hot dogs. This recipe makes me want to surprise him with homemade hotdog chili the next time we have hotdogs.
It's in the video. It's only 8-oz of velveeta cheese and 1/2 cup milk (she used whole milk, but you can use 2% milk or water instead of whole milk). Cook in a pot over the stove.

Yes they were great chili dogs. Honestly I had forgotten about James Coney Island. Thanks so much for the memories and recipe. ❤🤗
You're welcome! It's always fun to relive the good old days through food. 😊
I'm now wanting this!
Looks Delish ♥️

My grandfather would order 4 to 6 dozen for us on Saturdays. went to the same JCI near northline. funny thing is i made homemade chili dogs tonight.
I love raw onions on my chilli dogs and hamburgers and scrambled eggs in the morning yum
Looks delicious!
Former Houstonian here (Humble). There is no dog like a James Coney Island dog. My #1 favorite.
OMG 😍 yes absolutely ❤ soooo delicious
Another Houston peep! Sugar Land was my location. I can't wait to try your copycat JCI Hot Dogs! Thank you so much ❤
Me! I'm a Northside girl too! Loved JCI! I still have one in the Jersey Village area. I think the finely chopped onions make it!
Yes the BEST hot dogs EVER!!!!
Thank you simply mama, for giving us opt.with your recipe's, your the"BEST"🥰
Love James Coney chili dogs. I live south of Houston and we have a restaurant off I 45 and we stop in a few times a year. Love them. Thanks for the recipe!
The minced white onion is a must! Yum!

Houston here! Hey. Love James Coney. Went to the downtown location a lot, upstairs! lol
Yes, I remember that location as well.😊 I think that one was the first original location in houston.
Yes it was a special time with the fam in the early 60’s. I am going make this as you say, sure looks like the ones I remember, sure they taste better than we remember! Thank you❤xoxo

Now I know what to make for lunch tomorrow. It's snowing here, so this will be a good meal.

Mouthwatering, any way you serve it up, thank you for this simple but scrumptious recipe!
Lived in Humble area until 2021. Used to go to the James Coney Island often. Will definitely try your recipe.

When I was growing up, I remember my dad eating onions like apples.
I, too, can eat onion that way. I am literally Shrek when it comes to fresh onion. 😂😩

Never visited that part of TX so I've never heard of that place before... but those dogs look amazing. I'll have mine with mustard and onion!
I love chili cheese dogs. I used to fix them a lot when my kids were little. Haven't had one in years but watching this reminds me of how delicious they are 😋
These look Amazing.Nummy
Looks delicious. From the south and we love hot dogs with chili, mustard, and onions. Slaw and cheese is great also. Make homemade dogs all the time. TFS the chili recipe❤

These look SOOOO GOOD 🤤🤤
I used to love these! I didn't know til now they were a Houston only thing, though.

YUM ,YUMS ! DELICIOUS !!
I love catsup in my chili.
Yes, still one close to me! 😊
Know exactly the JCI you are talking about. I heat my hotdogs in the chili. Im sure yours are way better!
Sonic would be proud 😁💙🤍
When ya know, ya know.
I have never heard of these before.
🔥AWESOME🔥

Lived in Houston from 1958-1974, never heard of this place. 🤷♀️
The JCI on sawdust in Spring is still open.
See if you can find the hot sauce!!!
Thank you
Great job!
Texas Pete's is pretty close.
Reminds me of New York System Hot Wieners in Rhode Island. All but the cheese sauce. Oh, and celery salt added.
I know 😊
Looks delicious, can't wait to make this.
What is Maggie's seasoning or sauce that you mentioned?
I love chili cheese dawgs, but not a bean in sight.😊
I from Houston
I’ve been allergic to hotdogs, balogna and deathly allergic to mustard my whole life so I’ve never tried it. It looks good though.
What size is your steamer 5qt or how big and where can I get one like it. I never have used cheese wiz how do you melt it
I dislike hotdogs but I like chili, I'll just pour it over rice. Also, I'm a Mexican married to an Asian. More common in Ca. Where I'm from but I'm curious how you met your husband.

You used 1 pound of ground beef but your recipe says 2 pounds...which is the correct amount? Thanks...looks so good 😊
Your hotdogs look delicious
Looks good, but you need to try TOMMY'S Original Chili Cheese Hot Dogs.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🤘🤘🤘
Do you have the cheese sauce recipe?
Cheese sauce recipe 8oz of Velveeta cheese and 1/3 to 1/2 cup of milk. 😊
It's in the video. It's only 8-oz of velveeta cheese and 1/2 cup milk (she used whole milk, but you can use 2% milk or water instead of whole milk). Cook in a pot over the stove.
I like chili dogs with mustard, no cheese and no onion. I don't know why I don't like cheese on them🤷♀️
I only get Wienerschnitzel’s chili dogs and they are not so good anymore. L.A also has Tommy’s but they not so good anymore too.
😋🌭😋🌭😋🌭😋🌭😋🌭😋
I LOOOVE JCI!!! But now live in Dallas…😖
You missed important ingredients in your seasoning
I definitely want some onion on mine. This looks delicious!
Looks so good!
