    PCP is always a better price on a new car rather than a used car I find, normally because dealer or manufacturer incentives give a very low or even zero percent incentives

    An important part of the Tesla experience is being able to purchase the FSD or boost upgrades within the Tesla App after receiving the car. Prospective Leaser's BEWARE I have leased a Model 3 Long Range and have been told by LEX AUTOLEASE that I am not allowed to upgrade the car in any way. They dont tell you this before signing on the dotted line.

      Thanks Tony. Lex are not my faviourite company actually but that's a different story.

      Thanks I just want to make other people aware of this discrimination to Leaser’s. Honest decent TH-cam Chanel’s such as yours are an ideal way to do this.👍

    Some food for thought in this video for sure. If I had to choose from one of these today rather than sitting out (which is my current EV strategy) then I'd probably still go with the lease - as that is a known quantity. As you explain in your video there are so many variables to what the used price could be that the forecast £4k ish saving could easily be wiped out - or significantly more - making the leasing the cheaper option in the end. What I think this definitely highlights is that there isn't much competition and or high demand/low supply in the lease market for Tesla's. Interesting one to watch play out!

      Thanks Matthew. It is an interesting oen for sure, there will be great lease deals on Tesla's again before too long I think. It's just with the shortages of new cars at the moment it's created a kind of perfect storm. PCP doesn't work for me in probably 99.9% of cases - this one took a while to find!

    Thanks for the video. What's your thoughts on the tesla loan option vs PCP?

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d still lease one rather than buy (I did a video on it) as EV technology developments could mean the car drops in value at some stage far more rapidly than a traditional car. If you really wanted to but I’d suggest a bank loan.

    Nice vid. As you know leaseloco give each deal a rating. I have never seen a Tesla above the mid 70's. It would be interesting to see at what point leaseloco rating would mean the lease is a better deal than pcp or a loan.

      Their scoring is not a science mate, it’s good marketing a lot of the time. In my opinion a PCP on a Tesla is never a good idea and probably won’t be for years. Technology is moving too quickly and your new car could be outdated and therefore not worth much in 3-4 years.

      Will be great once the new tech drops the prices...natural progression what you said about resale values is so true...until they can swap out batteries as easy as an oil change ...and more importantly when more mechanics get trained up will help big time...rented a Tesla 3 was great..licence loser definitely!!!! I give it 5/6 years...more chargers more competition more innovation...cheers

    Nice one Guru!
    I usually buy 3 year old cars, using bank loan (I get 2-4% as premium customer) . I also extend the warranty from the manufacturer but stay away from Range Rover / BMW etc.
    pCP is a good idea if the depreciation is low, the finance is on a low interest rate and you intend to trade in. sweet spot is around 20% deposit. This can be used on certain types of motorcycles that retain most of their value: Cruisers, supersports.
    With the uncertainty around reliability of batteries, possible recession, tax incentives etc I will only go electric if I can lease one on salary sacrifice.
    hope that makes sense. If you fancy doing a conversation for your next video, let me know. :) Cheers, Máté (Matt)

    We've ordered 1 Volvo EV & 1 Golf PHEV via lease scheme at work. Been waiting 3-4 months for delivery on both. I very much doubt we will see them until 2022 now. Looking for an interim 2nd hand car is interesting in the meanwhile, given the market. I reckon when the government start allowing EV use in bus lanes, the market will blow up.

    Very interesting. Definitely not the outcome I would have predicted!
    That said I feel that the figures for the used car were significantly skewed by the heavily inflated price being asked by the seller. Yes, it has done super low mileage but a £60K new car losing only £8K in two years is pretty extraordinary. Most new cars can be expected to lose 30% to 40% of their value in the first couple of years.
    More than anything this demonstrates just how nuts the new and secondhand car market is right now 😀

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru

      Hi John, thanks, that was the point I was trying to make really, I looked at so many deals and found one where the PCP made sense but it is purely due to the market conditions, I'm 100% positive of that.

      @@DefinitelyNotAGuru Nice vid, one point worth noting is the fact that teslas have tiny depreciation, theyre so in demand, existing customers with pcp deals will do v well.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@plongs3 Thanks very much @plongs3. Yes, whilst that's 100% true now we don't know what the next 3 years will bring. If they end up producing the £15k Tesla or a new Model 3 with 450 miles of range etc it could change very quickly. The EV thing is still relatively new and technology is improving almost by the hour which could have a knock-on effect on future depreciation.

      @@DefinitelyNotAGuru There could also be a knock on from all the fence sitters (like myself) who are holding back from adopting EVs, when the new models get better and theres a rush on to go electric , will the second hand market get a bit flooded and prices get surpressed?
