  • In this video I get a really exciting bit of kit fitted to the 200 Series! The Hamer replacement front bumper has transformed the vehicle and given it a new face for the future videos.
    Disclaimer: I had a workers permit to travel from Gauteng to KZN and did not do it illegally.

    That monster looks like it could survive anything out in the wild. You guys in SA are really crazy about off-roading and land cruisers.

    Looking sick, Ed. Really transforms the stance of what was a gentleman’s car and is now an off-roader. Reckon those shackles need colour coding like on the @4x4Ventures Ranger😉. Bet you can’t wait to get dusty again!

    Edward, splendid video! What about topping it up with a Factor 55 Flatlink? Was the electrics for the winch relocated into the enginebay? Brgds

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Peter! It’s quite a pricey item but when finances allow it’s definitely an addition I plan on adding! 🙌 have you had experience with the Factor 55? There was enough space behind the grill for the winch electrics 🙌 so I can either plug the controller in there or use the wireless controller

    • @peters2860
      @peters2860 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EdwardBath No worries :-) Yepp, they are priceybut the safety-factor when winching such a heavy vehicle as a bogged down J20 as You have, cannot be underestimated. I love the F55 Flatlink but I am considering (....!) the Ultrahook (abt 2xPrice....) I ONLY use softshackles these days. When in doubt, I grab my Bubbarope Gator-Jaw shackles.
      As for the electrics, I have found them better protected in the engine bay provided there is room :-) That being said, we suffer way more hammering from the elements in the arctic hemisphere... Brgds

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome thanks for the advice Peter! I’m still new to the winching game so thanks for the help, will definitely be investing in the future to make recoveries as safe as possible!

    Very good looking bumper, you mention it did not sag after the fitment, did it change now after having it fitted? It does not look very heavy when the guys picked it up?

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Henk! The springs have settled a little but you won’t notice it unless you have a measuring tape, they were 2 pretty strong fellas but the bumper weighs around 70kgs with the winch weighing in at 40kgs 🙌

    • @4WheelingSA
      @4WheelingSA 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EdwardBath Thanks, this video got me thinking, so I went and put 50 kg on the front of the Fortuner. Dropped by 5 mm (I have OME).

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I’ve got the bar and winch application springs on the front so I’m sure that’s why it hasn’t really dropped 🙌 which springs have you got?

      Around 60kgs on the bumper and 55kgs on the winch 🙌

    hi is the bumper solid enough when hit animal? Thanks.

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, depends what animal and what speed but generally yes it is.

  • @twostrokescottbarnes
    @twostrokescottbarnes 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why didn’t you go for a hooped bar? Just thinking that if you are remote touring Africa, cows and goats are also sharing a lot of the roads.

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I enjoy the look of the king series bar, I avoid driving at night so the risk of an animal strike are minimal as the visibility is generally good. The looped bars definitely provide more protection but this still adds value and I really like the way it ties into the lines of the vehicle 🙌

    Not familiar with that winch manufacturer - what cost we looking at for 1300 option

    • @EdwardBath
      @EdwardBath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s an Australian brand and it’s R14k for the 13 000 pound option so that’s the reason I went for it, very affordable 🙌

    Precision fit 5:12 ......., as the guy files down the new bull bars/bumper presumably to make it fit ..... LOL

    • @EdwardBath

      Key word in your comment is presumably, well you presumed and you were wrong. It’s filing off the edges of the steel plating removed to insert the headlamp washers.
