That unique leaf drum sounds like it has a built in “wah wah” lever that put me in mind of Jimi Hendrix’s cosmic guitar solos. That involved the controlled bending of a bridge of steel strings. I’m super curious how you came up with this design, and very interested in attaining one myself.

My name is Irene DiSarro! Thank you so much for the opportunity to win one of these amazing drums! I recently came across these tongue drums and I think the combination of the steel and wood is amazing!! I would love to own one of these!
As for what the inside is made of? Hmm. I want to say like either a silicone or maybe even a sheet of metal. Kind of like those sheets that they use to make sound effects for movies. But I have a feeling it might have to be something more sturdy that also would not deteriorate with age.
Thank you again. This was an amazing video with an amazing chance to win a drum! My favorites was the udu, the leaf drum with the pedals, and the one with the Arabian tuning!

I'm a person with disturbed sleep and that was shown out in my physical life. A music person who uses music for healing most of the time.. many TH-cam videos made me sleep and now i wish to play it daily and learn to heal others as well. Searching for a hand pan and realised it was way too expensive to own one. So wanted to start with a steel tongue drum.. the sound that emits from them are way too divine... and I love them and that brings a lot of peace. Hope I would get one soon.

I am always on the lookout for content on Kosmosky woody tank drums on TH-cam and youtube music, so was thrilled to see this indepth review. Thanks for making it. I bought a woody tritone a few months ago that I am expecting to arrive here in New Zealand in the next few weeks. I am very excited to finally get my hands on one of these lovely instruments!

@@theprimordialway Arrived just over a week ago. The courier dropped it over the 1.8m gate onto the asphalt driveway, instead of ringing the bell for access! Fortunately, there was enough packaging to absorb the impact. The drum arrived in perfect condition, and sounds as good as expected.

    Hi Kosmosky Team.
The message on the great T-Shirts is “I need enlightenment”.
Thank you for that amazing extended Woody Drum special. It’s so interesting to see the journey until you came up with the Classic Design which is one of my favourite besides the Gigantic Drum with the Leaf shape tongues. The leaf shape Woody is probably nice to play because of sound richness. But 8 kg is really heavy if you want to transport it in a backpack. The classic one has another sound hole on the top which seems to make the sound more open and a bit brighter if I hear correctly. For and instrument it’s all about sound quality. To hear and see how important perfection of sound is to you it makes me confident to keep buying your instruments.
The small 8 tongues Woody sounds nice too. A bit brighter I think. I’m my opinion when I spend so much money on a Woody Drum I would go for the 10 tongue version or even more. The price difference is minimal and the more notes gives you more possibilities to play.
I would like to see more tunings for perfected Woody classics rather then more Woody models without big difference. You make the right choices for sound quality, material, build quality and you have also in mind the size and weight of the instrument for easy transportability. That is what I love about Kosmosky.
Idea: To have pickup system options to chose from when buying on your website would be a nice extra for people who really want to use to pickup system. So good to see that you are experimenting with other pickup systems now.
For now I have a Woody A-minor Tritone bought around October 2021. I have had mixed feelings because my expectations where different. In particular the sound volume I would like to be a bit louder. The built in pick up quality is okay but is not really satisfying for me personally. Two tongues don’t ring as good and as long as the others. That’s the higher A which is hard to get a clear tone without hitting too hard and the G Note which has less sustain than all other tongues.
I love it and I know it’s not perfect. Which instrument is? The more I played it the more I love it. It turned out to be a mellow instrument which I learned to enjoy more and more. But I need to be in the mood for A minor. Haha. That was the only option offered to me when I ordered it. BTW, I love the smell. The wood and Color still smells like new. And everyone who plays it loves it immediately. That’s great. Thank you.
I’m worried when touching and pushing the inner wooden sound board something could break. It seems so thin and only glued in? Please comment on this.
Since I already have a Woody Drum I give others the chance to win one.
I’m more interested in your new tongue pan. Hope to see more of it soon.
Please continue the good work and also the videos about products and playing with other musicians together. I love it.

Hi Alex and the team at Kosmosky I'm Elizabeth
My favourite drum is either the Woody with the Arabic tuning or the purple woody with Akebono tuning describe this the one with the richest Bass.
My guess for the material on the inside for the weird drum with the hand pedals is that it has a rubber or silicone diaphragm inside that the pedals are pressing against.
I really enjoy your work I think you guys are the best producers tank drums I just wish your music was easier to find on the TH-cam music app you don't really show up at all there but perhaps it's just a glitch.

You have shown the full metal body drum with wood resonance plate inside. You said this one sounds like a woody but is more heavy. Have you considered making a two sided tongue drum from this model? Since you tune the wood as well as I understand it these two scales need to fit perfectly together. That would be a interesting experimental drum.

I am new to tank drums - but I am in love with what you guys are doing! In all of my listening - you guys make the most amazing instruments. I have just ordered one of your steel drums, but these woodies are my favorite. I decided that I need to learn to play the one I ordered before I can splurge on a woody. Though, I know I will be back to order one soon! My guess for the soundboard is a sheet of rubber/latex. My original thoughts were simply goat or calfskin, but I think that others have guessed those options! The t-shirt says - I need enlightenment. Which, to be honest, we all need.
Oh and my favorite was the big, bad boy. Next favorite was the leaf drum! Krista

All of these woody drums are inspiring. I keep telling my husband that one of these is all I want this year. I have wanted a tongue drum for awhile, but I have been holding off because I don't love the metallic sound. What a perfect find this is!!!! Keeping my eye on these and the progress you guys make in the designs. I will comment again about my favorite ones, but I need to review the video because I loved them all.

    • @aubreyb700
      @aubreyb700 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I love the one with the leaves all around. I like the overtones, the range, the flatter base, and the shape of the tongues. I can't remember correctly, there were so many, but I think it was e minor. Loved it whatever it was.
I also really like the one with the richest bass. The deep tones are so unique. I can imagine them being consuming. If it were possible to achieve a full range of notes 13-15 with the majority of them being clear that would be better than no high or no low notes at all, but that is just my uneducated opinion.
A strap is a great idea!
My overall takeaway is that whatever you guys come up with next is going to blow me away.
      Good job!

    Hi dear Alex:
I am in love with the leaves kind drum. It not just look very beautiful, but have multi-tune notes and take care of the close tongue interference distortion. I really like it a lot. Also want to try guessing what do you use for the mechanical WOW effect on the big drum, may be a 3D printed sound control gate, but also appears that it change the sound pitch, so may be a labyrinth that change the tune acoustic space. But I am just having fun guessing what do you did. Hi Hi
I enjoy a lot with the video.

Finally got the questionnaire done. It was very in-depth, lol. Name I put on it is Joshua. The t-shirt says "I Need Enlightenment," and I think my favorite Woody Drum is either the tank/Udu combination or the one featured at 1:11:35 (the richest bass one). I like the B Minor 11a tuning, but as far as other features go, those two are my favorites.
Just got my first tank drum off Amazon and it's very fun to play, but nowhere near as beautiful-sounding as the ones in your videos; even the ones with the "trapped" notes are gorgeous in their tones. If I somehow manage to win one of these, that would be incredible.

That “peculiar” leaf drum is amazing! Definitely put me down for being interested in them. I just love all of the experimentation y’all do. It’s so great to see this video and really get a sense of just how much Kosmosky puts into R&D. I’m a musician in my heart and an industrial designer in background and I am alway blown away by the work y’all put into your instruments. As far as the misters natural in the drum with the levers, I have no idea. Maybe a plastic of some kind? I really don’t know? Whatever it is, it sounds great and has its own unequal magic.

Thank you for making this review. This was an incredible video! As someone who has been watching all of your Woody drum videos so far, this is the review I have been waiting for. I honestly love them all. If I had to choose, I think the "biggest Woody drum" you created, and the "Leaf" have to be my favorites.
The tongue drum with the pedal was awesome too--was it made out of bamboo or carbon fiber? Those are my best guesses.
Thank you for the awesome opportunity to win one of your Woody drums. I have a Double Sided "Forest' scale Kosmosky drum that I am so in love with, and have been wanting another since I purchased my first Kosmosky drum earlier this year.

Gonna assume someone won already as this was made 9 months ago. I’ve been wanting a tongue drum for a long time. I’m not a musician and don’t understand about notes and things. Was trying to find someone to help me purchase a tongue drum. Of course these sound great but costs is more then I wanted to spend. So been trying to find a decent one for less but have no idea what to order as most listings don’t have videos on it so you can hear sound. They don’t sell them at the music stores in Hawaii.
Since it’s partially? made of wood would I ever have to worry about termites? Termites are a big problem here.
