    I am saying hello from Lancaster County Pennsylvania, Amish country. I am new to your channel and am enjoying catching up on your past videos. I love the ones of you and your mother in your garden tours as well as your teaching flower arranging. Thank you from Mary.💐

    My family and I recently purchased an old homestead nearby my own lot of land in the country on which I was raised. As a young girl, 11 to be specific, I would ride my small red pony with her strawberry blonde mane and tail past the little farm, and even as a youngster I recall appreciating the peony bushes round the old barn near the orchard. I recall seeing my very first siting of a bluebird on an old berry bush on this property and it was at that moment that I knew I was home. To my delight, as I drove past the "property" the other day (the house long gone, but the barn preserved by hubby with beams intact) saw a very old pink peony bush in full bloom that must have been previously out of view by the old overgrown spruce. Do you know how that precious that moment was for me to see this old heirloom in full bloom? Of course you do. xo

    Thank you, Georgie! I do believe I will be putting in dahlias with my son this Friday, June 2nd. This will be our first attempt at growing dahlias. We’ve planned all year! 🥰

    Such lovely weather for you as we get colder. Not only brilliant with flowers, but a real hoot. You are very amusing and the best watch by far. You the only person I know who mows their garden beds.

    Fabulous, interesting video. On the subject of bulbs, in particular Tulips, could you recommend some varieties that are proven perennial please? I simply can not afford to replace bulbs every year. Thank you so much :-) I don't like the heat either- prefer to start about 6 am until when it starts to get too hot- usually around 11. Indoors to bake or craft then until around 4-5 pm then another 4 or 5 hours in the garden- wonderful

      the simpler the tulip, so the simpler the colour (no flashes,) or simpler the petals (no parrots, doubles, spikes,) the easier they are to naturalise x

    Georgie, do you really refrain from watering the dahlias after soaking them in a few times? Or is there drip irrigation? I might be overwatering!!

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really do - I mean if it doesn't rain for a month I'll water - but since planting at the weekend they've been watered in, watered once more, and I'll water next week and then we'll see x

    Great clip Georgie. Do you stake your dahlias or do you use horizontal netting to support them?

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will lace them around with string in a sort of cat's cradle arrangement x

    You are so hardworking, I don’t know where you get all your energy from. I’m afraid I lost most of my dahlias this year. They have to stay in the ground as I have nowhere to store them but we did have an exceptionally cold winter and usually a fair proportion survive. Very envious of your ranunculus. This is my second year of trying. Last year I presume was too hot. I saved the corms and presprouted them but now they are just sitting about 3”high and no sign of flowers. Is it too hot again? Any advice gratefully accepted.

      You are not the only person to have lost dahlias this year - you are in honourable company x

    Lovely video. Please do give more information on digging up the ranunculus . I have just dug mine and notice that some seem to have multiple corms now. Do you save yours and, if so, discard smaller ones? Your top tips are much appreciated. Changing shoes now.

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would just dry off all your corms, keep them, soak them in November or December or January or whenever you want to sprout them, and start again x

    Hello Georgie, beautiful weather 😊
    Just wondering if you reuse your ranunculus corns or replace them every year? Where do you order yours from, if you can share that 😊

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I replace but sometimes I save sometimes both - I order from Peter Nyssen x
