- Beautiful city of Landsberg am Lech.
Landsberg is situated on the Romantic Road and is the center of the Lechrain region, the boundary region between Swabia and Bavaria. It is noted for its picturesque historic center.
Landsberg am Lech developed where a major historic salt road crossed over the Lech. To protect the bridge, Duke Henry the Lion ordered a castle to be built, Castrum Landespurch, incorporating an older settlement and castle named Phetine. Soon a greater settlement evolved, which received its town charter as early as the 13th century. ( Wikipedia )

I was stationed there in the early 60s. Lived on a West German Army base on the western outskirt of the town, as a small NATO support unit of 20 U.S. soldiers, assigned to das Bundeswehr. Was there for a year and it was a very enchanting experience. The town was like living in the pages of a medieval storybook and I have many fond memories of Landsberg. I returned to the town in 2017, 55 years after I left it in the summer of 1962. It was a surreal experience, walking around to various location that were filled with memories of my youth. The army base is no longer there. It was deactivated after the cold war ended. The guard gate at the entrance had been torn down and the buildings were converted to a condominium community. The town is still an environment of serenity and enchantment and I would refer it to anybody as a must stop to get a real vibe of Bavaria.
Wow, Daniel, these are one of the nicest words someone wrote to one of my video. When I read your words, I had the feeling it is good to do videos. I can imagine you felt nostalgia and happiness when you revisited Landsberg. The city is looking framed in time and it is still beautiful. It was one of my first video I have done so the quality is not the best one, but I hope I'll go there again and I'll do a nicer one.
Where do live in the States? Maybe I have visited your place also.
This was a small article I wrote about Landsberg am Lech, and I published it online.
