Summary-
1st statement- Can I share my understanding & let me know if I have missed anything
Significance- you must confirm that you correctly understood the problem statement. Clarify if you have missed any essential information for the case understanding.
2nd- Can I take 2 mins to gather my thoughts
Significance- it gives you enough time to think through the problem and come up with clarifying questions(max 3) that will help you push the answer forward.
3rd- Do you have any data that you can share/available at this point in time
Significance- You can start your clarifying question by asking if they can share any data available. Further, you can other clarifying questions
4th- Let me structure the answer in x groups
Significance- it gives the idea to the interviewer you have a structured approach. Groups(buckets) are not bullets points but broad categories. Which can be further divided into sub buckets and further into sub buckets. It is called an issue tree.
5th- Do you want me to deep dive into any group
Significance- It helps the interviewer to take the interview forward
