HYPERTROPHY
Increase in the SIZE of the parenchymal cells
increase in the size of the organ
Cause :
Increased functional demand or
Stimulation by hormones and growth factors
Mechanisms :
Increased production of cellular proteins.
Due to the increased activation of genes responsible for the production of these proteins
sometimes a subcellular organelle may undergo selective hypertrophy
Eg: patients on barbiturates show hypertrophy of the smooth endoplamic reticulum (ER) in hepatocytes.
HYPERPLASIA
Increase in the NUMBER of cells in an organ
It takes place if the cell population is capable of dividing
Mechanism :
Results from growth factor induced proliferation of mature cells or
Increased output of new cells from stem cells.
METAPLASIA
It is a reversible change
in which one differentiated cell type (epithelial or mesenchymal) is replaced by another cell type
Mechanism
Due to REPROGRAMMING of the precursor cells, present in the normal tissues.
Differentiation into a new cell lineage
By signals generated by various cytokines, growth factors, and extracellular matrix components in the cells' environment.

Thanks man
👍🏻👍🏻
Thank u sir it is very useful video thank u very much
Sir please make videos covering all pathology chapters..
Yes
Thank you for easy understanding
Good explanation, just a suggestion, maybe you should add atrophy here as well as forth mechanism of adaptation. :)
yeah bro other than this very nice and understandable explanation
Thank you sir
soothing voice 🤩
really nice video sir
Make more vedioes sir... It's very helpful to me
Perfect!!bless you indea it's from USA. Brilliant teachers
It's India
@@pushkar6096 hehe it's okey some times to make a mistake thanks.
Thank you!!
Very use full videi sir
Sir your videos are really great the way you explain the mechanism through flow charts is so good ...I would like it if you cover the rest topics of pathology.
You video is really good sir..please you could kindly do a video on kidney changes in shock or refer me to an online....thank you
Thank you sir..
I have been diagnosed as having hypertrophy of the colon. I can tell you the pain is always there and felt at different levels and when bending forward I can feel a kind of firm area just above my belly button and a it over to the right. Had all the tests, but, just have to live with it.
kpzcbttp try naturopathy it will help h
Hello, are you okay now? Is there any other diagnosis?
thank you sir...it's very helpful..👍
you have written about metaplasia that "one differentiated cell type is replaced by another cell type" than u said the precursor cells are transformed
and as much i know differentiated cells and precursor cell are two different type of cell
please help me out with this confusion.
btw your vedio is really helping😍😍
The precursor cells produce the new cell type and progressively replace the older ones.. as you can see in some histopathology slides of Barrett's oesophagus, where there is intestinal metaplasia below layers of squamous epithelial cells.
Too good..
Sir pls do a video on the topic of dysplasia
Well understood
thank u sir
Does Hypertrophy and Hyperplasia occur at the same time and if so how does that happen if we are building muscle but hyperplasia cannot occur in muscle cells?
Sir are these adaptations reversible?
Plz upload topics on bone pathology
In metaplasia what happens to the already existing cells
My CT scan reports of brain old. Infarc in the left capsule. Is it a serious concern? what is the medicine fo it. I’m already taking clopilet &50mg and atevostatin
Thanks
Thanks so much for this information
Excellent!
What is is secretory metaplasia
Everything is good but the introduction tune is like mental torture

I have left kidney hypertrophy. Is this dangerous
