I don't speak Norwegian but I have been to Norway's coastline all the way up to Tromso. I love the music in Norway (Grieg) and especially the hardanger fiddle. The drones and tunings of the instrument sound wonderful to my ears. Mr. Olav in this recording is very exciting and I enjoy his approach to violin-playing. Thank you.
The title is "The shield maiden battle" in English. The shield maidens were female deities in the Norse mythology and were believed to take part in fierce battles if they were called upon in dire distress. Very intense tune and well played.
That has totally blown me away 🤯 I love Norwegian folk so much. My hearth beats for it ❤️
Bjørgum was awarded the Order of St. Olav for his outstanding contribution to folk music. He is one of Norway's top fiddlers
World class music and performance. This man is too modest. He should be listed by Unesco as world heritage.

Its Hallvard Bjørgum playing, he is the grand master
Grieg collected traditional tunes from rural districts and included some elements in his melodies.
Olav is the origin of this tune.

A lady in the audience says loudly "you played incredible well" ("du va utruleg god"). True!
Played* :) Plaid = Flanell.
Hallvard is the man!
It is said that master fiddlers could end up in a trance-like condition during intense performances.
Spelemann av fyste klasse!
Sounds magical!
Fantastic
Awesome!
Så bra, det svänger verkligen!
Det svinger! :))
Nog var väl det här på Oktoberstämman i Uppsala för några år sen? Var där som tur var, fantastisk musikant i alla fall!

Oj.
Stamping feet is typical for harding fiddlers
