Paul Giamatti was amazing in John Adams, a series about the 2nd U.S. president. His acting through all the stages of John Adams' life was just incredible. If you have HBO I'd highly recommend it.
I adore this man's acting. He makes any character, even in the worse movie, legit. His characters are so believable, so real, so naturally performed. I hope he gets an Oscar one day, finally. An amazing actor and genuinely funny human being. That's Paul Giamatti, ladies and gentleman!!!
Agreed! If I was trying to tell someone that BK story based on the exact same facts and events it would turn out as a dumb and hopefully quickly forgotten anecdote. I don’t give a single hoot about Burger King but the way Giamatti narrated his emotional ups and downs over a silly gift card was quite engaging.
@@prof.scheere6933 Look at it this way, which is easier to do: 1. Train every single BK employee in the world to recognize this specific card as a thing that grants anyone who has it BK for life 2. Modify every point of sale device in the world to recognize a special type of card, of which there are a dozen 3. Have someone write a script that sets the value of a short list of cards to $100 every 24 hours
Paul Giamatti has just done a Hugh Laurie, talking about a Burger King For Life Card before he had got one (just like Laurie did) in anticipation BK will send him a card, as they did with Laurie. The fact Giamatti has just given Burger King a 3 minute international advert promotion across all the countries the Colbert franchise is screened in is bound to help his cause. Genius Giamatti! 😂
The first time I noticed him as an actor was in Duets. After that he’s one of my favorites. Such a talented actor who can do both drama and comedy equally good.
Since I don't have a car, i can't get Burger King cuz whenever I've gone only the drive thru is open and they won't let one walk through. Same for all franchises. Haven't had fast food for months.
There is nothing uncool about this man. Sideways is one of my favourite films and Billions…. Stunning. He is the star of both. When Paul is on stage or screen he is all you focus on.
Stephen and Paul's chemistry is unparalleled. My dream would be to take both out for a drink, where I will just silently sit and watch them exchange verbal gold.
Is one of my all time favorite actors. The movie sideways was an epic movie. I have seen that movie a few dozen times over the years. Every movie hes in is a great movie.
I’ll never cease to be impressed with the fact that Paul Giamatti is 10/10 incredible as the Big Fat Liar and then we all fell in love with him when he was Ralph in Saving Mr. Banks. What an unbelievably talented actor. He’s INCREDIBLE. ❤️😃
The part around 4:38 reminds me so much of when he was Marty Wolf & he was telling the end of the story of Big Fat Liar up on the balcony. My heart lol!
For a minute there I thought I had also seen that production of Arcadia and completely failed to remember Paul Giamatti in it until I realized I must have seen it in 2011 (still had Billy Crudup but in a different part).
In the early 90s, Seattle had a red-hot fringe theater scene and Paul was its star...I think the last show he did in Seattle was the summer of '92...amazing it was three years from that to Lincoln Center!!!
“Love and Mercy” was the first movie I (knowingly) saw Paul in. Damn he was intense as Eugene Landy. I’ve NEVER felt so uncomfortable in a movie as in that one. He was genuinely scary. That takes some talent.
You know, I never ate burger King as a kid, but I absolutely love it now -- the burger and the lettuce on a whopper is so incredibly fresh whenever I go.
working at ASU cleaning, Once found the Kings wallet when locking up bicycle. Nice treat at the time for one or few meals, gift to son at the time of 2008 housing bust...it felt gud to be king !
When I saw the title I assumed this was because of that scene near the end of Sideways when Paul Giamatti’s character Miles drinks his incredibly valuable bottle of white wine in what I presumed to be a Burger King out of a styrofoam cup to accompany a burger and onion rings. (Though that scene wasn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.) Surprised there was no mention of that.
It would make sense to do it that way. That it is made to stay at 100$, limiting his purchase within a period as well. Also the description of the card seems overboard for a gift certificate
Perhaps the $100 is just the cap. "You get free Burger King for life, but you can't buy out a restaurant at every meal..." Because I can't imagine them making that nice of a gift card.
Such awesome presence from Mr. Giamatti on this one! Damn this guy has charisma - he is simply in a class of his own. Also - holy crap does he look fit now... Saw him for the last time in Billions when pandemic was starting - almost did not recognize him. Great stuff!
I’ve loved him for so long, I feel like I’m the first fan. Oh my God I just saw that we have the exact birthday, 6-6-67, are both from New England, and I too worked for Burger King as a kid! Hilarious. We’re meant to be best friends.

So good I bought the DVD set! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
“Never be ok w[ith] losing. No one remembers the 2nd US President. Only the 1st,” - NBA player Marcus Smart's dumb ass.
I rewatched John Adams and God he (and Laura Linney) are just fantastic.

He is funny. When he tells a story at times one can see the character he played in "Private Parts" come out.
What a great storyteller. The timing and inflection throughout were spot on. The BK for life segment is Emmy material.

Paul was in my favorite Indie move; "Sideways". Such a great Story and the casting was perfect.
He's top notch in "Private Parts" as well.
His performance in Sideways is iconic

@@Superkaioken87 I read that Merlot sales took a hit after that movie, because of that line (for real). I wonder if Pinot Noir sales went up.

Giamatti is awesome! One of my favorite actors. Very down to earth dude too
That non-recognition theatre story was too funny! 😆😆😆 Great that they could both joke and laugh about it.
C'mon, Burger King... do the right thing... Upgrade the man's card.
That card automatically reloads itself for life. He doesn't needs an upgrade.
Yeah it sounds like he made an assumption, the card is probably set to stay at 100$

Hahahaha! What a story! Twists and turns, heartbreak at the end, with enough comedy to make it the perfect late night show story! Brilliant
Guy is straight hilarious. First saw him in Amistad, been a huge fan ever since.
Paul Giamatti will go down in history as truly one of the greats. Glad to be alive in his day and age. 🙌🏼
I will watch anything Paul Giamatti is cast in. The guy always delivers. Period.

Loved the Arcadia geek out moment. Great play!
Agreed! Arcadia is one of my favorite Stoppard plays. I saw a regional theater production back in 1997, but that Broadway cast sounds amazing.
I saw it locally around the same time! Could not have loved it more.
Paul G, a national treasure.
Such a natural performer.
I absolutely agree with you!❤
Paul is such a class act :)
I haven’t laughed that hard in a while; now I want Burger King🤣

Greatest character actor today
this guy was amazing in Straight outta Compton and Big Fat Liar, and with man on moon with Jim Carrey
Can you please start putting part 1 part 2 on your guest interviews? It would make seeing them a lot easier….
Love the interview, btw…!!!
Paul is amazing!! One of my all time favorites
He's one of the best character actors ever. He really fot ahold of Adams' tyrannical streak and King John's pure wickedness.
Paul Giamatti was hilarious as a guest actor on "30 Rock" and great in the "Truman Show".
He's one of my favorite actors and on a mistakeable voice and also I think billions is his best project yet he's just fantastic in that
Paul Giamatti is a national treasure!

Totally! Check out his and Steve Carell - pure bromance
Incredible actor. Almost didn’t recognize him without his beard
And the 15lbs he lost! Good for him!
I almost didn't recognize him without blue skin.
My wife hates his Chuck Rhodes character without the beard.... I tend to agree, the man is a legend in his beard!
Thank you, thank you, Steve, Paul, Jon, the music and laughter are coming across in beautiful harmony, the best I have had in a long time. #Art
Paul Giamatti is GREAT!!!
I liked him in “Shoot ‘em up”. That movie was pretty cool. But honestly, Paul is great in everything I’ve seen him in.
I was scrolling through comments hoping someone would mention that movie. Watched it again last month. I had forgotten what a fun film that is!
