    My favorite part of buying my boat was listening to the stories and how much the seller enjoyed the boat. Now my family have made our own stories to pass onto the next when the time comes. #boater

    Being in this business for 20 years, this is the best practical TH-cam boating channel. I do all this stuff everyday, and none of this is new info to me, yet find myself excited for my Tuesday night youtubing after the kids are in bed. Keep doing what you're doing and this channel should take off. From one Aaron in the marine industry to another, great job!

    I agree with you about the part of listing an add with a picture of you catching a fish. I once included a picture of a boat I sold with a mermaid in a bikini. It sold in three days.

    I miss my center console a few years ago I bought a project center console boat for $2,500 it had a bad 200 horse Mercury motor I took the motor off and listed the motor for parts I sold it for $1,000 I then purchased a 200 horsepower Evinrude Fitch for $2,500 my wife and I installed the motor and the rigging ourselves we drove the boat and use it on the lake almost every weekend but then my wife talked me into selling the center console and buying a pontoon I sold the center console boat for $9,000 and bought a pontoon boat for $6,000 I think it was a good deal the buyer of the center console got what he wanted and my wife got what she wanted which was a pontoon boat.

    If someone is looking for a project boat to flip with hopes of making $$, Experience is key! I think my project boat would make me a little money but not if I add in my labor 😒. These technical videos are key! I hope to learn from Aaron with hopes of saving time not because I'm selling... but because I want to learn how to get it right so my time is spent on the water not up to my elbows fixing something unnecessary. Keep the videos coming! 👍👍👍#boater

    I just sold my 23 foot center console in one day for what NADA guide said it was worth ($2k more than I hoped for). I’m in Fort Myers and had three people show up immediately, one guy even drove over from Miami. I took your advice and added multiple pictures of the boat in action catching fish to the ad. I used Facebook market place and it was free! I’m in the market for a twin four stroke center console now!

    When ever selling ANYTHING always have three prices in mind. 1: Asking price, 2: What you want. 3: what you'll take. For example, I'm trying to sell a 40 HP outboard. Have it listed for 1500, I want 1k, I'll take 600.

    I was luck. I didn't use my boat as much the last year due knee injury. On the way to recovery I reinjury my knee. I decided to sell my boat (17' Boston Whale).
    I got my asking price for it as it. It was sold in three (3) hour -- 1 St person looked at it handled me cold hard cash.
    I am already looking for my next boat upon recovery from surgery 2 nd time.

    People in my state are always listing 20-30 year old boats in completely inoperative conditions for asinine prices; It’s just what they do. No engine, $3500. Engine disassembled with half the bolts missing and a rat nest in the intake, $3500. Out drive blown up, $3500.
    The other problem is people with a 10 year old boat listing it for about $500 less than they probably paid for it because it’s only got 1850 hours on it.

      Hello! I would say to check marina's, boat storage facilities, and then call around to mobile marine mechanics and other people that are in the industry and let them know you are looking for a project boat. It may take some work but eventually someone is going to say, oh yes, my neighbor has this boat in his yard that hasn't moved for 10 years!

  • @dwayneroberts6616

    When I was looking for my boat I couldn't believe how many people would show pictures of the boat or a video on the water. The boats looked great. I'd drive an hour or two only to show up and find the boat covered in leaves and debri left un covered. Cuddy cabins left open windows left open, wires cut and left in a spaghetti mess. These people would be asking ridiculous prices like they had a new boat. I also found something wrong with every deal. Either the boat needed a ton of work and the trailer was good or the boat was in fair shape while the trailer was a mess. No paper work for trailers you name it. Boats with 25 30 yr old engines or the engine was newer and the boat a disaster. I am currently restoring a 1996 Bayliner trophy pro CC 1903 with a 1987 Mercury black max ELPO 150. I will never get what I've put into it in labor back. I still consider myself lucky to have found this thing. It's just falling together for me and it's been mostly labor and nickel and dimes. I made sure the boat I started with was solid through and through. This boat was indoor kept for years then covered and under a car port. The engine is old but has great compression and still fires right up. I bought it planning on buying another newer engine next year. Now I'm not even sure I will. The engine is better than I expected so I'm actually re painting it and putting new decals on it. I already replaced the water pump ,thermostats and poppet valve right away. I have a few spots of gelcoat repair to do and I will re paint the deck. The rest of the boat is turning out awesome with just wet sand and buffing. Soon all the fishing rod holders will be replaced and the cheap materials replaced with quality materials. The trailer needed new bunks and wiring but the rest was relatively new. Whenever I do something to the boat it's with the idea that someday I'll be selling it so I make sure it's done right and organized. When I sell this boat it's going to stand out amongst the competition and someone is going to have to make the decision I had to make about buying a Bayliner. Do they buy the boat thats clean solid set up right and has the name everyone knocks or do they go buy a better name brand that needs a ton of work looks like shiot and is going to break the bank. I can tell you right now this Bayliner isn't going cheap when I sell it. Hell no it's a better deal than 90% of the boats out there for a smart buyer. I personally would rather have a really nice Bayliner trophy than POS beat up top name brand boat.

    I can't believe the number of people that don't spend the time needed to clean their boat or at least blow the leaves and pine needles out. Dirt does not sell. The other thing is to take pictures with camera not a phone. Take good pictures in the proper light and include more pics of the interior not exterior. 4 exterior shots should be good enough, front, both sides and back. More interior are necessary in my opinion. That's where the buyer is going to spend there time, in the boat. Include the year of the boat and motor because many times they are different. List if it has tilt and trim and oil injection or a 4 stroke. Good luck.

    • @BornAgainBoating
      @BornAgainBoating  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, their are definitely tiers to boat manufacturers. I generally only know about center consoles. So brands like Sea Vee, Jupiter, Venture, Intrepid, Nortech, and other top level boats will hold better than large production boats will. Other than a Boston Whaler, (which idk why they hold their value), most large production boat lines will lose value quicker.

    #boater - On deal day, be sure to meet the seller at the court house and ensure the title is transferred to their name! I picked a couple guys out of the ocean last summer when the boat they just bought sunk right where we were fishing, about 1/2 mile outside the inlet. It was a small boat on a rough day, the engine lost power, the wind turned him stern to the waves and it took probably less than 2 minutes to sink after the first big wave over the stern. It was just their luck that we happened to be trolling by as they started taking on water. On the cruise in the guy commented that he only had the boat a week and had not even gone to the court house to transfer the title to his name yet, and at that point he had no intention of doing it. The boat was only a few $k, he had no insurance and seatow quoted a price higher than the owner was willing to pay to salvage it, so he just let it go. Last we saw it, it was upside down inches under the surface 1/2 mile outside palm beach inlet headed north. I'm not sure how the conversation with law enforcement, lawyers or the land owner would go if someone ran over the upside down hull in the water, or if the boat ever washes up somewhere, but I bet it's a lot easier for the previous owner if the title had been transferred out of his name!
