I’m going in for my TKR in two days and I intend to do physical therapy, ice, rest, move, take meds. I want to return to doing and riding my horses. Use it or lose it!

Hope you both very pleased with your TKR. I am having 1 in few weeks & believe use it or lose it so have all in mind you have stated. I'm going in positive & 🙏 all's well & that will be fine. Would like to know if you hired or bought ice machine & also did you opt to stay awake have spinal block? Thanks a lot.

I'm on day 2 post op. Pain and swelling is at where they said it would be.

Here in the US they don’t have you using crutches. It’s a walker for a week or more until you can use a cane. You’re putting weight on the knee a couple of hours after surgery.

How interesting, thank you for sharing. Yes, we also allow people to weight bear soon after the surgery here but almost always on crutches (unless the person cannot use them).

We in the US now are supposed to go home SAME DAY! Outpatient. Of course your doctor can keep you if need be. Health care via insurance companies..

@@MountainGram112 when I had my surgery in January 2023, there were people who were going home the same day, but my doctor and the others in his practice keep you in the hospital overnight.

Thank you very good info in your video. I am thinking I would like to be awake during TKR soon. Orthopaedic Surgeon told me I would be having spinal block. Not sure if having robotic surgery but am interested in it. Will ask when I am contacted by Hospital/ Surgeon before op. but appreciate your input/opinions. Can you please tell me if you can have a test beforehand to see if can tolerate drugs Anaesthetist might have to give? This is my first surgery so want to go in calm & positive fortunately I am very healthy & do not take medications, eat well just can't wait to get knee done as long to get really fit & healthy as love walking but can't & want to do marathon walks as have the stamina. Ride my bike outside every day for an hour, but walking miss as now can't straighten knee enough. Walking always for 50 odd yrs kept my weight down better. I have been very active all my life am nearly 72 & have bug bucket list 😅 Damaged my knees through years out walking tripping over uneven pavers/dog, but told have to have TKR as have complex knee meniscus tear & twisted few times over the years. Would value your opinions & advice thank you.

    Hey 😊
Why can't you kneel with a knee replacement?
Is it because it's too painful?
Is it because it's impossible to get enough range of motion to bend the leg as much as is required for kneeling?
    Something else?
Thanks a lot for any reply 😊

I have read & heard on Y/Tube videos that you can but please don't kneel till your Orthodaedic Surgeon, P/T or Dr tells you it's ok. I don't want you to cause damage if not ready. Everyone is different. Good luck.
