      You guys should go check out the army turrets by the partridge island waterline on the west side. The trail is nice and goes all along Bayshore beach.

    As someone that just moved here late last year I can say it is the perfect spot for me. I have lived in Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver (for a short time) and I can say Saint John is by far my favourite. If you enjoy the outdoors there is so much to do and you don't have the insane traffic as the other cities.

    I’d say you moved here at the perfect time. Over the past couple of years, Saint John has been encountering a renaissance of nightlife, events and culture. Amazing people in the city are driving this change like Ray Gracewood from AREA 506, our MP Wayne Long who has brought in so much federal funding for developments like Fundy Quay, and many others. The buzz going on in Ontario and Quebec about moving to the maritimes is justified, and Saint John is really capitalizing on that opportunity. Saint John will experience growing pains during this time, like a lack of bike parking, people who don’t like change, and increased housing costs. I believe the best thing for Saint John right now is to grow our density as a city and have that population needed to sustain this level of growth and desire for more. I feel like we’re really making a name for ourselves as a city, and I’m loving every minute of it. I think your channel is fantastic because you are showing the world what Saint John is like. Keep doing what you’re doing! Saint John loves you!

      This channel (along with a 4 day trip to NB) has me back and forth on the idea of moving to New Brunswick. Every time I convince myself that it doesn't make sense and I should stay in the Toronto area, the voice in my head says I could make it work.

    I moved away from Saint John back in February to Alberta after being there for the last 20 years. I miss it everyday. Watching the memorial cup and your videos really makes me want to come back . I love seeing the city come together. Over the years living in SJ there always seemed to be this negativity about how it's a poor city and it's this and it's that but until you actually leave and look at it from a different perspective I feel like you don't know what you had there until your gone . Keep up the great work , love your videos and I love Saint John , cheers .

    Saint John has a lot of great culture and beauty to offer.
    The issue with the city 10-20 years ago was people didn’t feel safe walking in certain areas of the South and North ends.
    The issue today is gentrification, and watching the people and families who’ve lived in the city for many generations being pushed further and further away from the uptown area to find affordable rent. A good half of the uptown multi-unit residences are now owned by people who do not live in the city, and often not even the province.

King Street discrace. Empty hole at head of King Street for over a year.. nothing. Felt like I was in Russia. Embarassing.

      I think the idea is that the city is putting a lot of resources into improving uptown. From what we've been hearing Uptown is leaps and bounds better than it was only a few years ago, with plenty of new infrastructure on the way.

    • @rps1689
      @rps1689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uptown will never be as vibrant or prosperous as it was in our day. It is depressing and economically depressed. The only time it has a feel of something going on is when a cruise ship is in or folk from outside of uptown or the city visit for a special event or come to drink. It is a sad sight seeing the poor addicts hanging out on King Square near the end of the months across the street form Service NB. Even the housing at the old Admiral Beatty is becoming a slum lord like serviced outfit. It used to be kept well.

      I would consider myself a fairly avid rider...before moving here. I give Saint John a 1/10 for biking (no bike lanes, people are not used to cyclists on the road, the roads are in terrible condition, very hilly, minimal bike racks). For reference I'd rate Toronto a 7/10 and Amsterdam 10/10. For mountain bike riding Saint John may be one of the best places around. Rockwood park has many trails for all levels. I've heard it's top tier.

      I found over the years, there are no lack of folk attracted to Saint John because they can easily have a false self sense of being special among the mediocre, whereas where they came from, they would not; adulation, some whitewashing, and having an ordinary talent of some sort usually gets them the attention they like or even need, that they would have never gotten where they came from. That being said, there are quite some unique talented folk in Saint John.
