I work in publishing, so AI is an already loaded topic for me. I'm not sure I could approach the subject objectively at this point--I have already built so many opinions about and biases against it. That said, this deck kind of has a "forest of Chernobyl" vibe to it for me.
Agree re AI. I have had a lot of different feelings about it over the last few years but I wouldn’t get an AI deck now because of the environmental impact. This deck is cute tho! &I look forward to seeing it around your readings if you decide to share it
I feel you cause same. I didn’t have a fully formed opinion for quite some time because I didn’t have enough information, but now that some things (like the environmental impact) are becoming undeniably clear, it makes it easier to make a choice. Unless these things somehow change to the point where AI will become ethically and environmentally acceptable, I am not getting any more decks like this.
Its sad how the AI arentists are hitting the tarot community so hard on top of all of the counterfeit decks. So much work goes into real creating works of art. I appreciate you talking about the problematic nature of AI generated content -- I have been screaming from the rooftops about it for almost two years now.
@@BellaJennyfur It is sad! 😔 It seems like AI is slowly overtaking the industry and makes me wonder how hard it’s gonna be to even find a non-AI deck in a few years. I hope something changes for the better in terms of regulating this stuff, otherwise we’re all fucked.
This makes me sad. Because the concept is lovely. If it had used real photos and original art, it would have the spirit I feel a deck could have. These feel.... soulless and icky to me. I'm really depressed by the use of generative AI in the spiritual and artistic fields. It's no different to me than Temu decks, honestly. Worse, when they charge ridiculous amounts for AI imagery. $56 is just far too much when that's what actual artists charge for their decks. Doesn't it feel like a cheap cash grab? I dunno. I'm just sad about it.
I hear you 🫶🏻 I’m glad they used real analogue photography and digital art skills, just wish they didn’t add the AI. Cause the base would’ve been good without it.
Agree, AI generated imagery (i refuse to call it art on behalf of my arts degree) just lacks something - the spirit and soul of humanity. Once we get past the bling factor its all hollow and empty.
Its frustrating when artists use generative AI for the reasons you said and because the only things AI does that look good are things an artist could do (or learn to do) anyways. Its purely a shortcut with mixed results at best where you rely on the skills of others rather than learning from and building on those skills (like how many hand-copy old masterworks to learn how they were made). This could have been made with digital work and photography alone and would have come out better
It's awsome idea for the deck theme - nature, post-apo, human like spirits - but AI destroys it for me :-( How about the guidebook? How do you find it?
Agreed! If it was just the analog photography and digital art (made by a human) it would probably make it to my top fave decks 🥲 As for the PDF guidebook, I didn’t have the chance to read the entire book yet but some of the card descriptions I read were quite interesting and inspiring. There’s several spreads to try as well. I might get it printed and bound at some point.
I have a problem with some of the use of public domain art especially around the use of medieval religious art. These artists would've considered this use of what they produced blasphemous or sacrilegious. Are the decks beautiful and am I tempted yes. Are they ethical? And public domain is a legal argument not an ethical one.
That’s an interesting point and I can see where you’re coming from. I respect your point of view. However, I think public domain access to pieces of art that are hundreds of years old has contributed to the development of art and art history tremendously, as well as made art accessible to millions of people worldwide no matter our social status. I am thinking here a bit broader - not just about visual arts but also classical music and literature. A world without public domain access to historic works would be a world largely stripped of access to art - a very sad world, in my humble opinion. I am more concerned with the unethical use of art that is not public domain and actively stealing the work and livelihood from living artists.
@@polishfolkwitch But isn't the Chinese decision not to enforce copyright or intellectual property more costly than AI usage? Temu decks are more damaging to an artist's bottom line. AI is a tool and is going to be used.
THANK YOU for bringing this up!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Finally, someone else who sees it that way. Soooo many decks with that theme lately!! Same paintings in numerous decks. Basically, profiting off others art. Yes, it's public domain, and sometimes the art pieces are referenced and getting some credit, but still. A lot of the decks look really nice, but I haven't added any to my collection.

Bardzo ciekawa talia, zarówno te fotograficzne, jak i podrasowane. Pięknie wydana!
One chyba wszystkie bez wyjątku są podrasowane przez AI 🥲 Ale zgadzam się, że pięknie wydana ❤️

Thanks for sharing,❤It is a beautiful deck but I also agree, about AI being unethical.

This is an interesting deck. ❤
It’s definitely very unique in terms of theme, setting and aesthetic style!
