Just ordered myself a pair of these in Brown Horsehide. Have read quite a lot of conflicting stuff around the net regarding sizing, I'm in Scotland so I'm using UK sizes. However I spoke to one of the UK stockists and they assured me my usual UK size would be fine. They look great on you, mate! Can't wait to get them.
I agree for the money. But I like the profile of Mister Freedom and Julian’s. I do like a squared toe box though my Julian’s don’t but great profile nonetheless. Yeah wish most RWs didn’t have steel toes. I’ve got Julian’s and RW 2268s. Wish the 2268s didn’t have the steel toe. If you need it for work great but I don’t. Attractions are nice too. I’m totally impressed with the Julian’s. Fit right out of the box. True to size. Those Mr Lous are super nice though. Sizing always helps. Thx!
I had other engineer boots but finally got around to the Mr Lou boots. Now a few years later, have several pairs in different leathers. Profile on these boots are perfect. Still have 3-pairs of Japanese ones but they are not big toe ones and slenderer. Could not get my feet into the regular leather Lofgren engineers but have a pair in shinki HH that fit normally.......
@@CJCook The shaft on the regular Lofgren leather ones are too narrow for my feet and calves to get into. Even bought a boot stretcher but did not help. Funny the shinki ones fit differently.
Man, the sizing scares me. I have a pre-order pending and might have got the wrong size! I followed their instructions by using the device at shoe stores.
I personally don’t like how engineers look on me but other people seem to wear them so well. I definitely prefer the sleeker profile engineers though. That’s a beautiful boot.

Do you think there is a similarity between wearing straight leg jeans and bulkier boots (Red Wing Engineer) being transitioned to slimmer leg jeans and slimmer boots like the Mr Lou or John Lofgren boots. Feminazation of a more masculine style? It's interesting to me and I'm not sure my viewpoint on it truthfully. I just would value your opinion.
No, I don't think so. Men's trousers have gotten slimmer over time. If you look at a vintage inspired clothing line like Pike Brothers the leg opening is wide. The modern slimmer look is flattering for shorter men and to the male silhouette.

I've shod horses for 30 years and live in boots and jeans everyday. I've always had engineer boots but never invested in a higher end pair. Some say (including the factory) to cut half a size off, others don't on the Mr Lous due to the "MP" toe. My measurements are 10US (27.4cm) and foot circumference at the ball 11 inches, so wide. In Nicks boots I'm a 9.5F. What do you think about Wesco Mr. Lou? In all Red Wing moc toes I wear a size 10 and in all my boots I wear a 28.5 cm leather insole that fits perfectly. help!!! Thank you! So, I have had issues with the right heel. The rubbing has been really annoying. It feels like sandpaper rubbing on my skin. We are slowly getting there (break-in). The comfort level is great as far as heel impact on the ground. The outsole WESCO uses is wonderful.

As the Classic 1960s Batman(Adam West) might say, "Holy Bat-A-Rang"! That's one hell of a handsome pair of boots. I have no disagreement or criticisms. My only comments-more an observation; to my eyes they look like a cross between British equestrian and Chelsea boots. Shorten the shaft from knee high, add the engineer harness straps and style the vamp similar to the Chelsea is how I arrived at my conclusion. Regardless, they are one Sweet Ride of a Engineer Boot! Funnily enough, the engineer boot evolved out of early 20th century US cavalry boots, which in turn evolved out of the Wellington boot, which was itself a military variation on a British equestrian boot. So your observations are pretty spot-on.
Naw them John lothgrine joints are fire.....I saw your on feet with the wescos....the toes were curling up like an elf boot....remember what I said bout jimmy the cricket...
I know this opinion is arguable, but I much prefer the Red Wing styling over the Wesco's. In my mind the Mr. Lou's look like city boots with delicate toes and a vamp strap that crosses too high on the upper vamp, with a buckle that is too delicate and placed too far forward on the top of the vamp. The Red Wing engineer styling is spot on in my book -- rugged and "engineer" looking, with a low slung buckle and a style that tolerates a hard worn, beat up look well. The RW design is true to the history of the boot -- meant to be abused and matched with well worn jeans, never with slacks. Edited to delete a redundant word mistakenly left in.
Wesco is definitely a fantastic boot company, they’re the first high end boots I’ve ever owned, jobmasters and highliners, got the black horsehide Mr Lou’s a few weeks ago and love them
Hey, I'm with you. JL has too bulbous of a toe for me. I don't understand all the love for it, it's very meh (same with Role Club). Shout out for my Benzein engineers that I think are pretty nice.
Yeah, the JL always looked awkward to me, the toe and also the heel area 😄 The Wesco really is beautiful- hard to beat the value and availability, maybe impossible.
I agree that Wesco is really great bang for Buck. But I like more the design of the Attractions Lot 444. Very classy look

I am a 10.5D on the Brannock. I am a 9.5E in Wesco.
