    Wow. All 3 pairs...are awesome. Burgundy/Brown, British Tan, and Black...the only one missing now...is one in a matte shade of Green. What a wonderful collection. Engineer Boots...are the best looking boots of all time...

    Great collection of engineers.. i couldn't agree more with your intro.. initially I thought, no way..
    but they really grew on me. I have the same Mr. Lou boots.. black horse.. they're my favorite design for engineers still. im id love to have Role Club or Lofgrens still.. but the prices really start to climb..
    along with Clinch, Attractions, Julian's, Moto, Viberg, etc.. but i think you have the Holy Trinity right there between Wesco, Lofgren, and Role Club

      @@toneohm I love my Mister Lou’s! It’s hard to talk about bargains at these price points, but the Lou is a great value. I love the Horween CXL horsehide and the design/execution by Wesco is great. I easily could just have those and be happy. I have another pair in the Toscanello Maryam in order with Baker’s that I’ll see someday when Wesco gets around to making them. 😂

    That MP toe looks so nice, but is so small and narrow. Your going up a half size is a good recommendation. My pair in TTS is as you know just a little too short. My big toe is over it.

    hi mate, excellent boots collection!! I have a question related to the sizing of the John Lofgren, I also have mr. lou maryam horsehide, I fit good in 9E. white’s 55 last and nomad, I fit in 8D. do you think I can fit in john lofgren 9D? is your mr.lou the same size with your john lofgren? Thanks mate!

    • @CsawBoots
      @CsawBoots  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@jtang5210 Yeah, that works for me. I wear 11.5E Mister Lou and 11.5D in the Lofgrens. The 11D are just a touch short for me, or if only go with those because the instep is also higher on the JL so they are a little looser over the top of the foot compared to the Mister Lou. They still fit well though and the width is good and they are very well made. The Shinki is the way to go with Lofgren.

    Honestly great review of the three biggest contenders. Only missing a Clinch boot! Ha. I appreciate the time your took to dig into the nuances and differences. I’ve been keen on a pair of Wesco, but they’re 19 months back ordered right now. Im also concerned the Lou is too narrow for my feet. Then I found Role Club, met with Brian. Just haven’t pulled the trigger- for the price I really want to know what I want in a boot considering it would be my first. I wish I could’ve gotten a Wesco and broken into the world like that but I think it might be a Role Club to start so it just fits like as glove. We’re any of these fit to your foot by the way? Did you get the RoleClub off the shelf or did he make a last for you?

    • @CsawBoots
      @CsawBoots  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DillonPadgette They have all been off the shelf, even the Role Club I ordered from a ready made batch he had. Those took one size exchange to get the correct fit. I’ve bought and sold the wrong size in both the Wesco and the Lofgrens as well unfortunately. It’s been a costly journey for sure. But very satisfying when you get it right.

    How much do you know about that track/line that splits the vamp down the center..? I heard you mention it.. and other ppl do as well in videos but I've never heard an entire explanation as to what its for, why it's there.. very curious about that

    • @CsawBoots
      @CsawBoots  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@toneohm It’s part of the fully hand made process. Leaving a visible track there is more of a style choice now days. Most boot makers have a vamp molding machines that handle this work now, even for handmade boots.
      This guy does a good job of describing the manual crimping process:

    Great video. Can I ask how you find the sizing of the black sign aviator compared to the Wesco Mr Lou? Would like to hear more about the aviator boots

    • @CsawBoots
      @CsawBoots  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jamesfeeney8025 The sizing on the Black Sign Aviator is one full size down from brannock. So, I’m 11.5D brannock, and the 10.5 fits me well. They feel rather different than an engineer. They have a low block heel, which in a lot of ways makes them more comfortable. They are also not tight on the foot. The hight of the shaft does the work to keep your foot in there instead of needing to have the fit dialed in.
      For the Wesco Mister Lou, the general sizing advice is to go half down from your brannock and go with the E width unless you have a low volume foot. I personally get the Mister Lou true to size. This makes the tight waist and flat/narrow toe box work fit my feet.

    FYI. For those that don’t know, stock WESCOs have up to a 24 month wait time and custom ones up to 4 years. So I would not start with WESCOs at this time.

    • @CsawBoots
      @CsawBoots  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@franky3fingers337 True, Wesco has crazy long wait times. I’m about a year into an order for another pair of Mister Lou and a pair of Morrison boots I ordered via Baker’s. The black horse pair I have, I actually got from a stock run Bakers received. And the first pair I got were also from a small stock run from Standard & Strange. S&S has now stopped taking orders for Wesco because of the long wait times. I haven’t agreed them, but maybe they will still receive some stock drops. The other place I’ve seen somewhat regular stock drops off the Mister Lou is Iron Heart. So, it can pay off to sign up for the restock notifications and keep an eye out. Not easy though, I agree.

    What is 31cm in US sizing? Some shoe sizing charts suggest that’s a size 15 US. Does he have his own custom sizing scale?

    • @CsawBoots
      @CsawBoots  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@EDHBlvd It’s a bit obscure indeed. If I measure the inside of a pair of 11UK Viberg’s that fit well, it’s 31cm. The leather insole off well fitting 11.5E Wesco is also 31cm. So, why with that, by the Role Club are also 31E, so maybe that has something to do with it. The width is correct for my foot, but like I said if I put that same 32cm indulge in there, it has a good 1-1.5cm extra length. I could put an insole in there and get a pretty good fit, but I’d rather not fit a boot this expensive. My best guess for the 31 would be brannock 12 for D and maybe 12.5 could work in the E width.
