Been looking forward to this review and you did not disappoint. Disney sabers may not technically be the best, but they hold a special place in my family's heart. So, for the clash color being different between old and new; in my experience I usually have to put new batteries in my Disney sabers as soon as I get them and this can affect the colors. Wondering if you've swapped your batteries and if that made a difference. Another reviewer mentioned some of the side of the sabers seemed like plastic. Thank you for the solid review. Keep up the good work.
Just got mine today at springs today. I'm really happy to have them as I never got the opportunity to vet the original, but I will agree with the width, especially with that the fact the original have been unavailable for a while
I bought mine Wednesday 9-13-23 and I have to say that I love them. Granted I do not have any other Legacy saber to compare to, but I do have 2 of the early 2000’s FX sabers, and these feel great in the hand. I will agree the price is high, but if you do the math they do workout to be almost the same price as the older versions. Now speaking on that, aside from the new Ashoka hilts, the other sabers are on sale, but considering that they do not come with a blade, you will have to buy a blade at full price. You are right back up there in price. But you do have consider you have 2 hilts and 2 blades in the price. If you were to buy the Darth Maul set, both hilts and the blades, you would be over the price tag of the new Ashoka set. Now, since my sabers are for display only, I don’t mode the little quirks that it has. They will be used for future cosplays and definitely not for banging into other sabers. I will get Saber Forge or the like for that. Anyways, great review!
Thanks for the reviews on both versions of these sabers. I have the Di$ney Clone Wars set and got the plastic Rebels version thanks to your advice. They are actually quite nice for the price with removable LED blades. A far cry from the old Hasbro ones that were flashlights with sound effects.
Surprisingly the hilt was a lightweight. Nice update with the LED brightness. But seriously.. using the old sound/controlboard even now is ridiculous 😢
It was just dumb luck that I was able to order this pair from the Disney store when the Ahsoka show premiered. It turns out that it was a pretty narrow window while these were available. I just needed them for my collection and wasn't gonna pay over a grand for either the 1st or 2nd issue. Although they will be "shelf queens", I can't wait until they arrive.
The hilts do look a little bit thinner which is great! I hope they make all the sabers in their parks a bit thinner. If we get into neo pixel thin territory, they might be 500 or more per saber
Hello, James. I'm going to Disney this week and really want to purchase this saber, but the box is so huge that I don't know if it would fit in my luggage. Can you tell me the size of the box? (I don't want to leave the box behind...)
How is it that Disney, the only producer of StarWars, can’t get lightsabers right? It doesn’t make sense… We have so many third party companies making duel worthy replicas with top tier sound effects, and yet Disney can’t thin their lightsabers past the old school Hasbro plastic sizes.
Disney/GE is far behind the competition, when they should be trying to get ahead of them. Changing the blades so they work better is a step in the right direction, but to keep the same electronics and not using rechargeable batteries? They're about 5 years behind the competition.
I disagree. I think there are some nice steps taken to try and improve the quality. Important to note that these Legacy hilts are MASS produced for the parks and ShopDisney (more limited) and so I get the sense that they are trying to improve the quality of some of these higher tier items while keeping an affordable price point on them. Would obviously love smooth swing and at least LED blades, etc. but they know most people won’t be dropping $400-$500 regularly for lightsabers in the parks at that price range.
@@tylersmith9528Exactly right. We all have to remember Disney is trying to sell these to a MASS market. I’ll give a great example. This week they are having a 40-60% merch sale for annual passholders. Most of it is just junk they just couldn’t sell at the parks/ShopDisney. Well in the back they are selling the Leia hilt and the Plo Kloon hilt for $48.00 !! I saw people who would NEVER pay $150 for one in the parks buy 2 ( that was the limit ). Disney knows that price is a major factor when they sell these mass market products. Real enthusiasts will have to go neo pixel to get better hilts.
The first ones where bad and the new ones are bad in another way. I prefere some from a third party company. Not all legacy lightsabers are bad but every new one are really not good (Ahsoka, Palpatine, Ezra, Darksaber, Dookus Jedi saber) Qui Gons was alright but the rest
Disney really be dropping the ball on this, their sabers are shocking compared to third party neopixels. Appreciate your reviews though I think the only GE saber I’d get now is the savvis for the experience
@@Anduril74871 whilst this is true the baselit models are more affordable and much higher quality. The issue I think is Disney own the license so they get away with poorer products because it’s “official” and people like owning the official releases
I immediately cancelled my shopDisney order when I saw a picture of them in someone’s hand showing they were still way too huge. My LGT baselit version is still better
I got these first day they came out i missed out on V1 and V2 so im happy i got them to display

I have the first gen Ahsoka sabers. Almost bought these on friday.
What’s the best saber to buy out of the Obi wan TV show hilt, the anakin/luke/Rey lightsaber or the Luke ROTJ saber?
Hey man love your content! What do you think of sabertheory?
The hilts do look a little bit thinner which is great! I hope they make all the sabers in their parks a bit thinner. If we get into neo pixel thin territory, they might be 500 or more per saber
I honestly I agree a bit also what do you think are better these or the clone wars ones they made
Thinner set, should be interesting
How do I get these? I don’t see them being sold at the parks
Is this set available online, or strictly at the Disney parks?

You can have the box with the sabers in it as a carry-on if you are flying with them.
@@Jasonallansmith I can, but for international flight it's not very confortable and safe. And I'll be carryng a savii's workshop as well. Hehe
Appreciate the video review!
When you talk comparison of hilt weight. And heavier feels better. You don't want to be swinging an axe in a sword fight x
still not thin enough.
Good review
Are the blades 31 and 26 inch
We need both versions compared to a third party
I need them
Why are they so chunky?

It's not even a competition. The only appeal to GE sabers is that they're "official" sabers and lien you said the Savvis experience.
$350 GE vs $500+++ for third party. Not everyone can afford a pair of pixel sabers.
