Keep the humidity bag on only til they pin, then those fruits need WAYYY more fresh air exchange. You can just directly mist the fruits a few times a day in the open air, that bag stifled them. Also Ive been growing mushrooms for years with tapwater.. it is nowhere near enough chlorine to be toxic to your mushrooms and can actually improve your chances against contams. Anyway cool vid for mushroom newbies, great hobby for anyone interested!

Would you recommend similar method (open air + mist a few times a day) for Lions Mane?

Great directional video. I've been using the CO2 mycelium bags for growing cannabis for a couple years and had an extra one in the closet and decided to just grow the blue oyster mushrooms.

here's several ideas you can try
select the best type - there are many available.
grow them in the right environment - some such as oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and can be placed outdoors
(I learned these and why they work from gregs mushroom grower site )

a pressure cooker some canning Jars or mycological grow bags.....10 cc syringes and 18 gauge or 16 gauge 1 1/2 inch needles
is what you need to make your own from scratch. some straw coffee grounds corrugated cardboard and some plastic totes. don't forget lysol wipes and spray bottle and hand sanitizer. also some oyster mushrooms from the grocery store to get a culture from.
perlite imo works better than a sponge.
    liked the video btw.
if you need help on how to make spore syringes PM me.

@Konscious Klout Reddit.com or download the app. Goto Sporetraders. Also try eBay. You have to purchase one to get started...then its lengthy and your better informed elsewhere. but you take a mushroom you grey put it on a foil under a cup and take its print. scrape a print into a distilled water cup and load your syringes...more or less...youll mess up the first time.

Very nice! I bought a pink oyster kit from everythingmushrooms and am not happy with it. Six days and nothing. No pinning or anything. I was a little suspicious about it when it arrived and it looked like it was not fully colonized. Oh well. Live and learn. I ordered from them because I wanted the pink oyster and it was hard to find anyone else that offered it. I might have to try starting it myself somehow.

The music sounded good in this video, noticable but not distracting. I think that's a good level for your music, although even just a teensy bit louder might also be good.
(I won't comment on the mushrooms because I don't like them myself.)

I would call this a novelty grow kit. Certainly not anything that was intended to produce any significant amount of mushrooms for consumption in family meals. Just a fun experiment to see if you can make some mushrooms grow. Great to have in the kitchen if you have kids and you want to get them interested in the science of growing food.

Could you take spores from a harvest and grow your own using them on some other growth medium?

    • @jeremyberger3505
      @jeremyberger3505 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes if you put those spores in a solution then inject it to sterilized grain jars in order to establish a colonisation of the mycelium within those jars. When they are fully colonised you add them to a substrate let them colonise again then when ready, you put them under fruiting conditions and watch them grow 😍

I think you would get more than two full-size ones if the block had been dunked in your spring water for a little bit after the 'X's were cut. The very small mushrooms and the tiny aborted group probably would have grown up if they had the water to do it. Also, if the two full-size ones had been harvested a day or two earlier the smaller ones may have grown to full size, too. Maybe soaking 'now' after the vid will provide more full size specimens.

why do you want the stem? What if you left the stem in? What if you just let them go to spore and then you would have a lot more harvesting and perpetuating themselves

This flush was far from perfect, there were some air exchange/humidty issues apparent with the two large legged capless fruits, and stringy octopus like new growth
