    Mushrooms did wonders in my life. I was diagnosed with cptsd since my teenage, spent my whole life fighting cptsd. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with similar health challenges.

      Can you help me with the reliable source. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Spain. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them.

      Ive done shrooms last month in my house. It taught me how severely traumatized I was from alcohol. I healed from many mental traumas from my past and was able to forgive, let go. Shrooms to me is a remedy not a vice. I even felt more refreshed the morning after. So no hangovers. No depression mood for days. No anxiety.l now have a more calm mind

    I've been using a 50/50 mix of pea straw and dry tree fern fronds from my property for my Grey Oyster mushrooms. I live in New Zealand, and my property has a lot of ferns. When dead and brown, the fronds shatter into something similar to a fine straw when run over a few times with a lawnmower.
    I think I'm going to try a bag with 100% fern fronds next time I make some fruiting logs, and see how that compares, yield wise.

      @@yeahnahsweetas No they don't puncture the bags, I pasteurise them with the straw with hydrated lime.
      Recently I've taken to getting some coffee grounds from a local coffee cart and mixing them in too (about a third of the total, with the other two thirds being straw and dry fronds. So far it's working well, with much better yields.
      Coffee grounds have to be very fresh (less than a day) or they get moldy, but the oyster mushoom mycelium will outcompete the mold anyway if the spawn is strong.

      he have a vid like this on the channel.. in my expirience you can do a good LC whit honey or canadian Sirup, remember never put more than 4% sugar or mycelium don't grow, target the 2%, also malt extract, yeast, dextrosie is good stuff, don't use corn sirup (make the LC milky, is good for agar dish), for the agar i do the same plus a bit of agar,food color, and a tip of amid for cooking (maizena).. for the jar and the lid follow what tony say in he's vid.. LC are more easy and safe for start, but you need some equip, if you whant kick start buy some kit (ready substrate) or if you have the substrate buy some grain spawn, some bags and some polipropilene wool (acquarium filter is great), have fun

    Alfalfa hay is tempting, since it's easy to get a hold of, but i think i might go for the pellets instead due to contamination issues.
    The pellets list a protein content of 20%, which is actually about double what soy bean hull is listed as online.

  • @mnmsauce
    @mnmsauce 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The masters mix substrate recipe is a bit off if the soy pellets weigh less which in my case they do, 2 and a half cups of them is not equivalent to 2 and a half cups of hardwood pellets. This lead to overhydration as the total weight prehydration was 750g, so only 1200ml of water was needed if I kept the ratio at cups only instead of by weight.

    I have been
    buying masters mix for a couple year now. Costs about $43 with shipping for 40 lbs. I make 5 lb blocks so 20 blocks can be made from that. Using 2 lbs masters to 3 lbs water.

    Another great informative video. Thanks! Have you ever tried or known anyone who has tried growing on hemp hurd? I'm thinking of using 4 parts to one part wheat bran. You didn't mention this, by why to some substrate recipes call for adding gypsum? Thanks!

    Anyone use RYE Flour instead of Brown Rice Flour? (PF TEK} I heard that the Rye flour needs less water in the mix. (I bought Rye by mistake instead of BRF today) A few years ago I tied both separately to compare but I forget . At age 69 I forget short term memory anyways. Can't wait for Golden Teachers!

    i can't find any resources that walk through growing oyster mushrooms from inoculation to harvest using the coconut coir substrate. would brown rice inoculation work for oysters? i dont own a pressure cooker. basically, i'd like a video for the easiest and cheapest way to grow some mushrooms!

      i have electric pressure cooker, but goes to 10 PSI only so not sure if its enough... i have used the microwave, not sure if that's enough. bought some stuff from Amazon to make my own Mushroom blocks, but no luck so far.

      @@jimmymisle910 the uncle ben tek is super easy and after researching some more, I think it can accommodate oysters. No pressure cooker required with that one or brown rice tek

    I followed your bucket guide with very fine sawdust from the park (I suspect it's hardwood, but didn't check) and coffee grounds. We had a decent first round but the pins and fruiting bodies started getting very very dry. I realized that very fine woodchip does not absorb any water. So I think I'll go with less dense substrates that can absorb water better. Does this match your experience?
    Also, how are fallen leaves as a substrate?

    • @QuailCanyonAnthropolgy
      @QuailCanyonAnthropolgy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      use vermiculite or cocoa coir to keep the substrate moist for longer and keep it from being too dense. Fallen oak leaves or fallen aspen leaves work well but get spent with first flush.

    i recently tried shredded palm leaves as an oyster mushroom substrate. The mycelium seems to be colonising it at the same rate as sugar cane or straw mulch so fingers crossed on the fruiting stage. Hopefully its successful because I have plenty of dry palm leaves falling all over the place for free.

      Just a follow up, the substitute has just started fruiting so for anyone reading this yes shredded palm leaves work for oyster mushrooms.

    Have you or anyone else tried wood shavings from a chainsaw?
    Was wondering if I turned bar oil down to a minimum if it would be OK for oysters, only one way to find out I guess.

    So to make a 5 pound fruiting block you only use 5 cups of hardwood pellets then the bran and water? Or am I missing something?
    Btw I've been taking your Freshcap mushroom supplements and I've been feeling pretty great! I've been pretty sick for a long time and my treatments got me to a pretty good point. Now I've only been taking your Ultimate Mushroom Complex and extra Lion's mane, bc I've got some pretty bad nerve issues, and I have been doing remarkably well. Thank you so much!

    I've heared you can also pasteurize your substrate by submerging it into water for about 2 weeks. After that time, most of the oxygen will be used up, which will leave anaerobic bacteria. I don't know if this will work for every mushroom, do you have experience about this? It seems to be a more sustainable approach, because it does not require a lot of energy.

  • @knees20
    @knees20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you pasteurize the aspen shavings the same way as the coco coir? Or is it sterile when you buy it in a bag?

    Has coffee as a substrate any other drawbacks than the high risk of contamination?
    I started my mushroom journey two months ago with access to an autoclave and a fequently used coffee mashine. I directly inoculated the coffee in the autoclave bags with dowels and built an air filter with a plastic tube and a face mask. The mycelium grew strongly from the Side with the air filter, but did barely grow on the opposite side. I suppose it did not get enough oxygen there. Is it a good idea to puncture the bag there to increase air exchange or does that make the risk of contamination too big?
    I would appreciate some advice from more advanced growers.
