The "extra channel" is used with smaller tweezers on the voyager model because the screen takes up a whole scale. The secret channel is also visible on all the translucent models

I did the same modification to my plus scale, but I oriented the tools in a different way. I left the tweezers in place on the front scale, left the ball point pen in place on the back scale, removed the toothpick and replaced it with the firefly. That left the hidden slot to hold the toothpick. And I found that if I used the toothpick from an old classic (it's shorter), it fit into the slot perfectly without any kind of modification, except for lightly filing the head to match the contour of the end of the scale.

That's a great tip! I'm looking into this mod and was debating using the electronics scale tweezers or a shortened (for 58mm) Firefly for that slot, but totally forgot about the 58mm toothpicks, which are much better suited to filing down as you did. Thankfully, I have a ton of spares in the parts kit I bought!

Instead of the pin I found a sewing needle that fit and replaced the pin with the needle

That would be more useful. I wish they had a larger pin hole on the 111mm scales for sailing needle size. That would make up for them not have the thread hole on the awl on those models.

@@micahwest5347 on the SOS sheath I have a sail needle, it’s just not on the knife

Another option could be to get the smaller version of the ferro rod to go in the secret slot. That way the tooth pick and tweezers could stay in there original position.

I did the same trick to my Cyber Champ with Sapphire scales. Got the idea from a Felix Immler video, I think. I bought the Jewelers Kit on Amazon. It has every SAK accessory tool in multiples, and has paid for itself. So when I saw my original tweezers were too long for the new slot, I got a shorter pair out of the kit. [I only wish the stick pens also came in Black ink.]

I carry the fero rod under the saw and fish scaler in my champ

The Firefly is designed to fit the Toothpick channel not the Tweezer channel. The hidden channel is clear to see on the Rubi & Sapphire Plus scales. What I have done on several of my SAK's is to file open the hidden channel & taken the Toothpick & cut it down in size to fit the small size of this channel, used a knife to cut & shape a fine point on this now shortened toothpick & cut and filed the toothpick head to fit the channel opening . I then have a short toothpick & its former channel is free to take the Firefly. I place a small size tinder spiral on the corkscrew & hold it in place with the mini-screwdriver

Flashlight, pin and razor blade no scale removal. Looks great with reshaped toothpick. Thanks for the tip.

Remove the toothpick, add a drop of super glue and baking soda to the end, file to shape.

See Felix Immler's excellent video on how to properly remove and replace the scales so you don't wear out snap-in holes.

I never knew I had a pin by the cork screw! It just blew my mind. I’m not a collector or knife buff but I have a lot of them! 😂👍🏻👊🏻

Great video, and given that you put this mod on a Craftsman (love and cherish mine), you have about the most function-rich SAKs for the space one can imagine. I couldn't quite tell from the video, but did you put a tinderZIP on the lanyard? If not, it's a great compliment to the Firefly, and I really wish Exotac made one in red to match SAKs.

I love the tool set of the victorinox craftsman because for me the driver on the back of the Swiss army knife is much more useful than the corkscrew i know you can get the little driver for in the corkscrew but the driver on the back is way better and much more comfortable when using the small blade for wood carving 👌 so victorinox please bring this Swiss army knife back please thanks very much for sharing this one with us 👍
