@2A I think John and Bob Weir hitting it off was a great change for John . Bob inviting John to play the part of Jerry Garcia in Dead & Company has really made him a better all around player. He is at the top of his game now.

Let's face it, as far as guitar is concerned, we're in a bit of a valley right now, idol-wise. It's kind of impossible to not love JM, if not for his music (which has been getting better every album), then for his exquisite tone and sensibilities. He is definitely inspiring, as are you two ladies. :)
Tbh I don't really have any feeling about JM, his playing doesn't impress me and I really don't like his voice, and I'm not saying this just to get a reaction, I am impressed however by the fact he is really down to earth and not arsey, but it is really pathetic (not saying that's jm's fault) that you can't shoot video footage!
@@dezertson2011 You're obviously young. Know not what you say. Perhaps a look back at the 70s to 90s, when rock bands were filling stadiums. There are some great Prog players today, but the profile of the electric guitar has waned to historical lows. It's one thing for guitarists to have an opinion on who are the greatest players. It's another thing entirely when electric guitar lived high among the lexicon of pop culture. Whereas, your 79 year-old neighbors knew who Yngwie Malmsteen or Steve Vai were.

@@justinhobgood4312 I'm feeling fairly confident that if they get John Mayer in the shop/studio (and he'll show up eventually if he said he would) that EVERYONE is going to be part of it in some way. That being said, The Captain Meets John Mayer is THE THING most of us have been waiting for. Pete is great, I very much hope Pete gets to jam with John on camera. But I want The Captain to do the interview, for sure.

My favorite Anderton’s video ever. Love the happiness Lee and Pete got from meeting John, and REALLY love it that John complimented Pete’s playing. In the end we are all just guitar fans, even our heroes.

I met Lee when I saw John Mayer! He was awesome, we just stood and chatted about Mayer and his gear for a while before I needed to head off

neither Pete or Ariel have put out shows, solos, albums or songs in the quality of Mayer....im sorry, i feel dirty even talking about who is ''better'', cause i think thats wrong in the world of music...but not a single solo by Pete or Ariel can be compared with the emotion that so many Mayer Solos or songs give to people. Guitar isnt about the best technique, the most scales or whatever....its how you build a solo, what do you say with that solo, how do you say in a song etc. And im sorry, maybe Pete or Ariels stuff touches you guys more than Mayers, but i think that most people would disagree with you there.

If a guy like pete would start composing and releasing songs it would be as good as mayers material. He has a very caracteristic touch, feeling and he's definetly a top guitarrist but chose another road i guess

i am obviously in the minority but after seeing JM 3 times and hearing various studio cuts, I find JM utterly boring and watered down. i dunno he just doesn't react with my dna. i just dont hear any real fire with JM. Nothing that elevates my heart rate. But i'm glad it made you happy, and that is what music is about, making ppl happy and that is why we have variety - to make everyone happy.

Seriously? I mean John Mayer is a good "guitar player" and seems to be a nice dude, but why such enthusiasm? I will never get it to be honest... This world is full of known and unknown amazing individuals including great musicians, artists, thinkers, writers, scientists and so on and so forth, but I almost hear nothing about them in the online mainstream guitar/gear community... In fact, for deeper and more profound musical inspirations one NEEDS to be relatively aware of other fields, otherwise one stays a simpleton without knowing it...

Look at all the great musicians out there, Philip Glass, John Williams, David Gilmour and read about their life and their musical journey, and you will find out that one thing is shared among them all, and it is their thirst for knowledge, inspiration and meaning...Take those aspects from them and they will become yet another simpleton this world is full of already... Being a guitar player does not mean you SHOULD necessarily stay a simpleton, uneducated and "ignorance is bliss" kinda guy...

And no, his style, his fashion, his producer, advertisements and all the rest of it don't have anything to do with the hype! yeah right...
@@konnektlive I understand. The thing is when I was growing up I sort of wanted to be a singer guitarist. I was inspired by his music and was inspired more to study the instrument coz I found his songs relatable and his phrasing impeccable. Im a big fan of all sorts from different genres But as a singer guitarist I just love his music and lyrics. I'm saying just give it a listen coz it inspired me personally. God bless. 🙂

He's done allot of different things, mastering the pop song is an amazing skill to add to being a virtuoso guitarist.
I love his playing. He plays good blues songs. But I just can't stand his voice. Never have liked it.

The Dead & Company is about all of the music I can stomach from him, it's quite good actually. With that said, I do recognize the talent and the tone and the passion in his "radio pop rock" music. ...Also love his Paul Reed Smith Super Eagle , my gosh that thing is amazing. He is an awesome player and a good songwriter. Sort of light classical music, I don't really care for it but I can appreciate it's excellence. Anyway guys, I'm happy for y'all that y'all got to meet him, I know you are playing it up a little bit, but there is some real honesty in y'all's reaction also. Good stuff...

It's it's actually for the artist how would you feel if you were saying hi to hundreds of people and each one was taking like a 15 to 30 second video it just gets obnoxious for the artist
That's not what it is all about. Otherwise, pictures wouldn't be allowed either. It's not the artist, it is the management that comes up with these things. Besides, the artist can decide whom to talk to and for how long and he doesn't have to shoot the video himself, and this is a music shop with a good following here on YT, so good PR. You don't wanna get photographed or shot on video? Play for yourself at home. If you go to NAMM and you are a famous artist, ending up on someone's phone is part of the package you bought into the moment you decided to go on stage to earn your living.
