    I lived in Naples from 1960 - 2003, and yes its a beautiful city with great schools. The cost of living has crushed the middle class and many have left because of the low wages and high cost of living.

    Pretty crappy city if you make less than 100k a year, lived here all my life and my biggest regret was staying and building my adult life here. There is actually nothing to do here, and the restaurants are all pretty average, I've had better food in almost every other city in SWFL. Definitely overrated

      We mostly lived in Winston Salem, and loved it, but also enjoyed Greenville, SC. North Carolina has many cool cities, depending what you are looking for. Asheville is fantastic and we love Blowing Rock and Boone. Raleigh and Charlotte for bigger cities, but not our cup of tea.
      If I would have stayed in Florida I would choose Sarasota over Naples by a mile. We just do not like the heat and humidity and living life in air conditioning....when we can enjoy beautiful cool breezes in the Carolinas.

      @@bananapatch9118 Thanks for your reply. I am from the Northeast. Am thinking west coast Florida vs. East coast. I am looking for peace & quiet, palm trees, beautiful water. Don't want to deal with NY'ers that are attracted to the east coast. Hearing nice things about Navarre, Anna Maria Island, & Sarasota area. But the humidity is high there, too? Jekyll Island, GA is my speed - quiet, no traffic, great beaches, no riff raff. I am 64 so schools are not an issue

    • @bananapatch9118
      @bananapatch9118 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The west coast has the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico instead of the cold Atlantic water. The west coast has mostly midwesterners and the East coast gets the folks from NY and NJ.
      My favorite area on Florida’s west coast is Sarasota....Siesta Key if you have a little bigger wallet. Siesta key Beach is AWESOME. The Village is a great casual area to hang out and eat n drink.
      But, you still have to deal with heat n humidity.
      I’ve just reached an age where I want to be out n about and not constantly sweating.
      We love the Carolinas....and will retire to the mountains of Mexico in a few years.

      If you are planning to move to naples, just know that its expensive to live here and if you are middle or low income class then I dont recommend you... Since you have kids, I recommend you to live somewhere else in florida. Naples is becoming a place for rich people. The place is safe depending on where you live and the cheapest rent would be 1.2k or up (estimates).
      If middle or low class (you may have 2 jobs depending on the amount of income in your family). For your kids, the middle school in naples suck! (Gulfview, Golden gate STAY AWAY!!) Best highschools (Naples high).Elementary (sea gate) *it may have changed*

And We're totally ok if people don't like it here. Even better if you don't move here. He's also full of shit about the cost of living. It can be very expensive to live here. Granted...not NY City expensive, but we don't let numbnuts tax the living crap out of us for no reason. Do some independent research.

      Great points! As a native South Floridian, I would start with citydata.com and research business trends in the local library. Ask the reference librarian to help you. This is going to take some concentrated effort. If you are in your earning years contemplating moving to South Florida, I would say don’t move here. You’re wasting time and opportunity. It’s too expensive, and there is only a majority of low paying service industry jobs. Go to where Big Business is relocating so you can earn enough money to retire in these affluent Floridian gated communities.

    Video is well done. I got to say that the very cheapest house in the Moorings is 1.5 Million , This is a bread and butter that was built in the 70s and needs to be refurbished. If you wanna 675 foot condo you can get one for under 500k. Park shore cheapest house 1.3 million. Aqualane shores you’re looking at 10 Million if you want a boat dock. I guess the cheaper numbers are coming in because of these micro condos that they have 500 600 700 ft. This house that you’re passing by are 5 million dollar homes not medium income. Props for researching the schools and looking out for your kids!

    does anybody have an idea of how the autism services are in Florida. ?
    family and i are considering moving down there, but i have a sister with autism, so we're trying to gather up info.
    is there personal care assistance or an equivalent of that down there ? can relatives be p.c.a. / work as care-takers ?

    • @kimracklely2689
      @kimracklely2689 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may want to check out apd.myflorida.com for info. The cdc plus program allows relatives to work as care givers. However, I have heard there is a huge backlog of people waiting to be accepted into the program. I don’t know about the waitlist personally, but its something to check out before you move.

    • @CultureEstate
      @CultureEstate  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you cant go wrong with either choice, Marco is a tighter smaller community. You might end up feeling claustrophobic and you have to travel to go to most bigger stores. Napes depending where you go can have it all. Night life in swfl is mostly over at 10pm unless you travel to a few places north or even some bars in Marco Island. Hope that helps as well as any info you get from @tequila_shark

    Your elementary schools rating is wrong . And not because it is not updated . It was wrong 10 months ago . All well rated schools in Naples are mediocre at best somewhere outside of the state because Florida is one of the lowest ranked state in that regard.
    Mason Academy is a charter school - it’s misleading to mention it among public district schools.
    It is safe yes because there is literally nothing to do especially with family except going to the beach and swim in the pool.
    It’s a cultural wasteland, retirement paradise in retirees based economy. If you are the one who is willing to raise your kids like that - Naples is your place . Well one needs quite some money here too . Homes are overpriced and snobby population will remind you of that :)

    If you are a retiree and you want to spend your final years ( waiting to be planted ) in a hot 🥵 climate playing golf/tennis - that could be your choice.
    There is no reason to live here otherwise. I lived in 9 countries and inc other places in USA .
    Schools are mediocre at best . Their ratings are Florida rating which one of the worst states in education.
    Food is mediocre. All for new business , tourists type . Meaning it is all about location but food… nobody expects you to return .
    Weather is how and humid 11 months per year .
    Cultural wasteland- nothing happens . Sometimes something in Artis etc but not enough.
    Beach and pool - that’s all you can do with kids .
    No shopping. You shop online for everything except groceries and maybe some furniture.
    A lot of snobby old money coming from provincial areas :) picture that :)))
    Old people are everywhere. I love them and respect them but when I am not Naples ( dreaming to move out ) it is so refreshing to see young faces :) and feel a cool air …
    I mean if you are old and have money , haven’t really seen anything , have low expectations for quality - you can be happy here for sure ! People are . But especially families- don’t waste your time.
