GTR slowed down at the end so he would not go over the 155.9 mph limit. It was a IRRA event that had a break out limit of 155.9 mph. The video clearly shows the GTR slowing down.

Ive been seeing this celica develop over the years with a clip on the highway doing pulls with chrome gold rims damn its come a long way.. this is car is probably the best celica st185 on TH-cam its 10/10 well done patrick 👍🏼

Need more 3S-GTE's! Toyota built some amazing engines. Electric is fast, but ICE makes me quiver from the turbo sounds to the smell and the clacking of the gears and my favorite the exhaust sounds... pop...pop...pop!

It can't be coincidence I have been looking for videos of Celica GT-Four the past few weeks, and now there is a video here for me to see. Manifested. Of course I was mostly searching the other model with the four lights in the front.

I had a 1990 Celica GT many years ago. Even lightly modded those things were an absolute blast to drive. Very driver focused. That All-Trac must be an animal.

So underrated, these things won the WRC in 92' & 93.
ST185 won 16 full WRC series, and 3 overall winner in the W2L series. WRC Driver's Titles with Carlos Sainz in 1992, Juha Kankkunen in 1993, and Didier Auriol in 1994. WRC Manufacturer's Titles in 1993 and 1994.
These need and deserve to be respected.

@@saltcityhustlin3152 cracks the block above 350bhp. But they're underated, especially when reinforced. Think fensport does a kit for that very problem.
@@bad-bunnyblogger8171 no mate i have seen 600bhp+ plus on stock blocks it all comes down to the builder keeping everything within tolerances 350bhp is nothing for a 3sgte upgrade your pistons and bearings stock rods and your good for 500bhp.. toyota were always ahead of the game and are for more reliable then subarus and evos thats a fact

I remember this race, it was at the IRRA event, class 2 where they had a speed limit capped at 155.9 mph. The GTR slowed down at the end so he wouldn't break out and go over 155.9 mph.

3sgte is an unsung hero, but was one of the best engines of the 90s. Id easily put 1jz, 2jz, rb26dett, 13b, and 4g63 on the list as well. I like my 3sgte because theyre stupid ez to make quite a bit more power with than its factory rating.
my first car in the late 90s was a 89 Celica ST. bought it for $1500 and loved that thing. always wanted to build that 89-93 T180 Generation and seeing someone else live out that fantasy is awesome. love this car.

They won world titles with these cars for years and ended the Group A dominance of Lancia, long before Subaru and Mitsubishi won world titles with the Impreza and Lancer. Check out Juha Kankkunen, Carlos Sainz Sr., Didier Auriol and how they drove these awesome machines to their limits in race trim.

3SGTE is 2.0, the 5SGE is a common 2.2L swap bottom end on the 3SGTE head. so i think your description should be 5SGTE destroked to 2.1L

THis has to be the MOST elusive JDM car in history.. I always wanted one because it was damn near my favorite import car on Gran Turismo, and it was rare to see even on the videogame online lobbies! The Castrol ST205 rally car is my dream rally car from that period! I cant really explain, its not the hottest car but something about it. I cant get one, but maybe one day I can get a MR2 Turbo

For years after seeing this car in Rally as a kid, I always wonder why no one had build one of those AWD Celicas. And I even seen a few here in SoFlo, Miami.
Parts are expensive unlike the evos and subarus and Nissans the celica is superior to its counterpart brothers especially this carlos sainz version just the bonnet sells for £2000 without inserts 😂
@@Blackfracolin1 If I recall this is a 185 not a 185H he has just put the bumper on because it has better airflow for FMIC and the hood for better heat extraction as well as the upward exhaust. Pat has made an absolute gem of the community.

This is why the GT-Four is becoming one of my top favorite cars. The Celica gt-four st205 is one of the best looking cars on the planet. It looks better than a Supra, and it was AWD. Swap a 2JZ into it and it would be the ultimate monster car next to a Dodge Viper.

Oddly enough my local Subaru tuning shop. Which is pretty known on the north east coast has more built foresters than sti’s in their shop at all times. It’s actually amazing

I have an '08 XT sports that I bought new, slowly started making changes after keeping it stock for almost a decade.
Crazy to see how far modern cars have progressed. A fully built lightweight awd 90's track car only runs 2/10's faster than 2021 Bmw M4 with just downpipes, tune and fuel in an otherwhise stock car (9.8).

Good runs, nice to see an older JDM moving like this - fwiw a 1000hp R35 traps 150 and runs 4.3 60-130 and 4.2 100-150 - get that 60’ into the R35 range and won’t have to play catch up.

The major problem with the 3STT motor is that it was only reliable up to about 5:00 horsepower horsepower when you take that to double to double at a 10:00 horsepower you're gonna have major major breakdowns sounds and very expensive. The motor just can't handle that it doesn't have the strength that AGTR motor would have AGTR will run for years at a 1000 horsepower unless you do something totally stupid which most idiots do. But it's very difficult to beef up in all the areas needed A3S motor.
