    Thanks for the video. There are two bits of info I would have enjoyed seeing. 1) mount the tire with red dot in wrong location and check on balance machine. Now move to position at valve stem and check on balance machine to show the difference. 2) Show where you placed the weights. Thanks again for taking the time to inform your audience.

    Red dot of tire is suppose to line up with a marking or dot on the inside of the wheel not the stem. If no dot is found on the wheel then line the yellow dot to the valve stem ignore the red dot. This is according to Yokohama.

    The red dot is the highest point of a tyre . If the wheel hasa low point marked with a dimple you align the two up . Nothing to do with valve stem . If your wheel has no dimple you then revert to the wellow dot . this is the lightest part of the tyre and should be aligned with the heaviest part of the wheel which is the valve stem hole .

    I just use the Hunter GSP9700. I do road force cycle, mark tire and wheel according to machine, match mount, then balance. Saves excess balance weights and saves time. Machine was costly up front, but weight savings over a few years and lack of “comebacks” saving time (time = $), was worth the investment big time!

    The colored dots on a tire sidewall are alignment aids:
    • Yellow Dot: Marks the tire’s lightest point. Align it with the valve stem, which is usually the heaviest part of the wheel, to reduce the need for extra balancing weights.
    • Red Dot: Indicates the stiffest point of the tire. If the wheel has a mark for its low point (like a dimple), align the red dot with that for a smoother ride.
    If both dots are present, prioritize the red dot unless otherwise specified. These help with mounting and balance but don’t affect safety if not perfectly aligned.
    A Hunter Roadforce Machine would confirm this and confirm match points on the wheel and tire when there are not dots. Also the soap you are using to lubricate the tire can also allow the tire to rotate on the rim under hard braking making all your efforts in balancing useless.

  • @Abomination317
    @Abomination317 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I used to think the red dot would be prioritized over the yellow on the valve but I tested both on a steel wheel, the yellow dot on the valve asked for 1oz total from both sides and the red dot on the valve asked for a total of 2 oz from both sides. Didnt have a chance to try in other rims since I was in a rush

    • @pgharaghani28
      @pgharaghani28 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What you need to get rid of your vibrations is a road force balance. I promise you, this is the solution. Basically a road force balance matchen the low spot of the rim with the high spot of the tire, making the total rotational "roundness" as close to perfect as possible.
      You can have an oval shaped tire and balance it with a regular balancing machine, but it will still be oval and vibrate while rolling. This is why a road force balance is so damn good!

    Yellow - lightest part of TIRE
    Red - Highest point on TIRE
    Blue / drilled or other mark - lowest point of WHEEL
    IF Yellow only is present - align to valve stem on wheel.
    If Red and Yellow are present on tire AND Blue / drilled or other mark is present on wheel to identify its lowest point = ALIGN the Red (highest point) of tire with lowest point on the wheel marked by the Blue / drilled or other mark. NOTE: You should ONLY do this method if you can identify the highest point of tire and lowest point of wheel.

    This is from Hankook Warranty Support to my question about the dots.... "Hello, So I do not know about aircraft tires but the red dot on a passenger car tire is just a manufacturing mark and is not for balance. If the tire has a yellow dot then it can be helpful when balancing. Not all tires will have that yellow dot, it is only added if needed after the tire gets inspected at the factory."
