I'll be looking forward to your reactions. Especially from the perspective of being actors yourself and having worked in the volume, knowing the process, and seeing how it all comes together here in one of the most glorious storytelling in a game so far.
I absolutely love the way they portrayed Thor and especially Odin. Thor being this timid physical kid around Odin, but then letting his crazy side out when he's not around. And Odin being this Mafia-esque Don, who's incredibly manipulative, sneaky, and pretty douche-y.
I lost my dog to cancer in August. We had to put him down. He was trying to eat, but the food wasn't received, and he was getting thinner by the day. Eventually we didn't have a choice, he was in too much pain, and he couldn't walk. People who know me know that I'm not a spiritual or religious person, in any way..But I do hope, I really hope that somewhere out there somehow there is a heaven for our pets, where my dog can run, bark and have so much fun with his mother, and his friends, and that he understands what happened and he's at peace. I'm not sure how to live without that hope. This scene with Atreus was too real, way too real, as I was with my dog in his final moments. A good boy, that had to let go.
Pretty much the same happened to me a couple years ago, one week we had a happy young dog, the next I was digging a hole in my front yard. As for not being religious, I would definitely say the same for myself, but the night before i found out she was going to have to be put down I literally prayed, for the first time in my life, that she would pull through.
It wasn't that Baldur could do no wrong. Him killing her was supposed to be the cost of her mistake. Kratos didn't let her pay that price. Which is exactly like... God of War 1 where after Kratos kills his family he tries to kill himself but the Gods intervened and didn't allow him to. So he had to live with the guilt and seek vengeance. Is this all sounding familiar?
Baldur was after Faye actually. He didn't know she had died and cremated. Her ashes were in the pouch Kratos carried which was why he was chasing the two.
God. Right there at the 22-23 minute mark, Amelia and I were in the same boat. Seen the full gameplay multiple times now, and this opening still gets me.
I'm just now playing this game after plantinum-ing the 2018 game (SO much time omg), and I look forward to checking your playthrough as I progress. Also: hugs to Amelia (and Bryan). I just recently had to say farewell to my 12 year old German Shepherd. The opening scene with Fenrir was a tough watch and definitely got me in my emotions. Much love

I can hardly imagine the pain of being in Atreus’ position there, and I dread the day when I will have to feel it too. I was devastated when my Guinea Pig passed away when I was 12 years old, but I know that feeling would be eclipsed by the loss of my dog.

Update: I tried Valhalla up to the first Tyr battle and gave up, because I got tired of doing the same levels again and found out you have to battle Tyr four times. I saw the final cutscene on TH-cam so I knew what happens at the end.
Santa Monica Studios has always chosen good actors and voice talents for the God of War series and Ragnarök is no exception, Ryan Hurst as Thor is fantastic, i wanted to hate Thor as a character because of what i heard from GoW 2018 but he's actually very well characterized and quite intriguing, i have always loved those characters that just want a good fight and love the thrill of the fight, similar to Kenpachi from Bleach.
Amelia I HAVE to say that pillar throw followed with an Axe grab was genuine!! *chefs kiss* meanwhile odin is talking atreus's ear out in the time being... Edit totally forgot to say.. Amelia has some gosh dang pro strats during that fight!
I know you guys have already finished the game but when you first start playing and do your game settings you can actually choose to have Kratos or Atreus (depending on who you are controlling) auto pick up items like for health, etc. They only pick it up if they need it though. It saves you a little bit of time, especially in battle.

I lost my Dog this April after 16,5 years. This one scene hit SO DAMN HARD EVERYTIME.

same i lost my dog a while ago too after probably 14 years we had to have her put down due to her being too sick to even move.

So sorry. I know how it feels. Lost my dog 15+ years ago and my cat 5. Both passed in my arms and that scene still hits hard.

Thor is more intimidating than the MCU version and I kind of expected Odin to be a more like an extremely intense version of Anthony Hopkins.
