  • His 1935 album he worked on until his death in 1997. A cherished item, but time to strip it and get those stamps into acid-free stock books and albums.

That's a great collection, I saw so many British Commonwealth stamps featuring Edward VII and George V, great stamps to own.

I've got the exact same album that purchased in a stamp lot. It's a good album, pretty thorough for its size.

Wow, that's a beautiful collection and a beautiful album. It's a shame to transfer the stamps out, but I understand why. Thanks for showing it.

This is an exciting album to go through and work on. Your grandfather was very serious at collecting and most likely saved some very good stamps. The Cape of Good Hope triangles are very desirable, and I am sure that other countries like Canada, Great Britain, Iceland and many other areas contain good stamps. Incidentally,Orange River Colony is part of South Africa and Straits Settlements is now Malaysia. An older Scott Catalog used as a reference guide would give you a lot of knowledge about these stamps. I say older, because the up to date Scott Catalogs are very pricey. You can have a lot of enjoyment with that album and your knowledgeable friend can help you quite a bit. Don’t be intimidated by the number of stamps, but take one area at a time as you are able to, and your efforts will be much rewarded. Now is a very good time to learn learn what stamp collecting tools are available to help you with this.

The "Grandpa's album" is really nice. I have bought a few albums full of stamps. I never take stamps out, or put stamps in them. I preserve an album "as is". Right now I am going through a 3 1/2 inch thick Harris album full of stamps. The guy must have spent many hundreds of hours just putting stamps on pages. I love this Harris album full of stamps, and will keep it "as is" unmolestedly.

Nicely constructed and organized. Don't be intimidated by France and Italy. Early issues and 20th century are easy to find and not as overwhelming as building a full Russia collection!
