- Which Weller Is Worth Chasing?
Weller Bourbons can be hard to find and the prices can run out of control. Where's the "sweet spot" of availability, price, and flavor?
Special Reserve is most available and least expensive, followed by 107. Weller 12, Full Proof, Single Barrel and CYPB can be priced out of control and super hard to find. The best Wellers are 107, Full Proof and 12 Year.

I bought a bunch of special reserve when I started collecting and I opened one and still have the rest. Don’t do what I did. Try it first because I think it’s terrible. The Full Proof is definitely my favorite of the bunch but I’d rather have larceny full proof or makers cask strength. The antique is very floral for me and the 12 is just ok. The moral of the story is try before you buy.
Weller 12 just got annihilated in a blind I just did. With that said it is quite delicious when tasted on its own

It’s all I’ve been drinking recently. I’m a huge fan of that walnut/pecan flavor it delivers. Really makes it stand out from other bottles in the same price range
@@rowanheynes257 exactly, it's a little bitter forward but not in a bad way. Just sort of nutty and drying but then comes in with the sweetness and a little heat. Very good stuff that is a little unique.
Just saw it 4 the 1st time 2nite...& didn't get it. Didn't know anything about it. Now I gota go back😂

Any Weller is extremely hard to find in SC. 107 and 12 year is even harder.
I have a friend that works in craft bottling at buffalo trace. He says that the metal twist off top isn’t significant of how they view the line. He almost described it as an accident when converting the rest of the line to cork tops. They will all be corks soon he told me.
Scored the antique 107 2 weeks ago for $85 in MI. Just saw the 12 yr for $350.

I pay $79 for special reserve and $159 for the 12 yr here in Houston. Special reserve is my daily sipper. 107 is very hard to find down.
I’ve been drinking Antique since the 90s, and it’s the best regular release of the series. Secondary prices have come way down, while I hate paying it 80-90 should score you a bottle.
I havent seen a 107 in a year now and have never seen a 12, but the special reserve hits about every 6 weeks or so and i hit 3 different stores, theyre on a 1 per customer limit
Here in New Zealand, weller 12 is going for 207nzd (126 usd)
Full Proof is the best of the line imo, I wouldnt pay ANYTHING over retail for anything in the Weller lineup, not the single barrel, not the CYPB, 12Y... Period lol. Northeast Ohio, Special Reserve and Antique and very common, surprisingly the CYPB is more frequent than the 12 and Full Proof, single barrel tends to be the unicorn this way!
We sell them all at regular retail, but I haven't seen any in quite a while. I like them all, in different ways, but I would never pay over retail.
107 is definitely the best

I haven’t seen 107 in a good while and if I did it’d more than likely be marked up…special reserve though, I can get consistently. Luckily BT products are starting to become more available so who knows.
Just snagged a single barrel I can't wait to compare it to the Special Reserve.

I really enjoy special reserve and I keep a bottle on hand since it’s easy to get, but not being able to find the other Weller products has made me want them more😂 you know how it is

Same for me in Oklahoma. I can get the 750 ml bottle for 30 dollars all day
107 and special reserve are always available in ohio, the others I've NEVER seen on shelves but the bars all have...
$80 for SR in my are and EH Taylor SB for $100. I know the EH is marked up a bit, but it's not even a thought on what to buy. Blanton's is marked up to $120 and I'd take that price everyday over the WSR price. Buffalo is $35 and better than SR, so nothing makes sense, including who buys SR for $80.

WSR used to be a cheap as whiskey. 10 years ago it was $13-15. So yeah they kept the screw top

@@sheliaallen2061 no it's not, it's oxidizing and the alcohol is evaporating, hopefully it's been kept away from sunlight and areas where the temp fluctuates, like a kitchen. You can try and wrap it in shrink wrap, tin foil and dip it in wax, that should help slow down the evaporation, but eventually the flavor is going to completely change, and it will become more water.

Full proof, you get a good one and nothing else in the lineup is even close.
A store in my town had two bottles of Weller 12 last year. I had the counter girl pull one down to check the price, $100!!! I left with both 😅
In Toledo theres a ton of special reserve for 23$ and if you get lucky you can get antique for 50$

In NorCal? Under $100. Hard, but possible.

That's steep, even for secondary pricing. MSRP is $50, a "fair" markup is around $100-$105. I hard stop at $125 and I'm a big fan. Good luck! 🍀🤞👍🥃
There’s much better whiskey for much less money. Weller is good but not extraordinary. BTAC is a different story.
