She and her husband were both freaks. They went to a carnival the day after the shooting because they'd promised to help supervise. Mama Downs allegedly laughed at the time and told Fred Hugi that "you know how social obligations are, you just can't break them." All they cared about was their public image, which they deserved to have shot to hell the way it eventually was.
I read somewhere she and her husband went a festival the day after the shooting bc they had a prior commitment to volunteer. Your daughter(who loves you, only time I heard her cry is talking about them), one grandkid dead and two hanging on... And you go to a festival bc you planned to volunteer tf.
I saw an interveiw with her father and it was sticking how similar he was to Dianas behaviour, with a unemotional, matter of fact demernor.

I am a grandmother and I know I would be in tears and devastated if anything happened to even ONE of my grandbabies....much less one being murdered and one paralyzed with a second injured child clinging to life after having a stroke!! Um....I totally believe she's guilty. However, isn't the DA that tried the case adopting the kids a HUGE conflict of interest at best? Why didn't they go to family? Their mom had siblings and parents and they both had fathers that had family....
The prosecutor and his wife cared about them more than their biological family did. If matching DNA was a guarantee for a good home, the kids wouldn't have been in such a spot to begin with. They deserved the absolute best after what they'd been through, not emotionally retarded idiots who would have forced them to visit and make nice with the woman who tried to kill them.
The father let Diane break a court order and spend time with her surviving daughter while the murder was being investigated. So he did get to see them while they were in foster care but failed to follow the court order and put them in harms way.

Diane's father was abusive, physically, psychologically, and sexually. Diane's mother ignored it because she was a Good Christian Wife who always put her husband first.
