Must reserve final judgment, but this is the watch from W&W I am most interested in. Modern take on that 1968 classic case. Skillfully finished movement…and hi-beat too. Titanium. Beautiful dimensions. Stunning dial and power reserve on the back. Wow. I view this as a dress watch, so I don’t want a bracelet. But that’s probably me being a boring traditionalist.
The SLGW003 Birch Bark is using the Brilliant Hard Titanium, the same material used for the US$350,000 Kodo. Certainly NOT the High Intensity Titanium, which was mentioned a couple of times.
FINALLY!! GS puts the power reserve indicator on the back rather than “scrape” away a section on front dial texture for a goofy ass placement. This one is beautiful from all sides/angles. Sadly, stratospheric pricing puts them out of my reach.
I own Tudor and GS watches. In my opinion, Tudor is more consistent. That's to say, GS often excel in some areas, but let themselves down in others. For example, you can have a watch with far better finishing than Tudor but the bracelet might be terrible and stand out as lower quality than the rest of the watch. Tudor tend to make the entire watch to a standard which feels cohesive. Because of this I feel Tudor watches can feel more "complete", and many GS watches can feel "almost perfect" but there's often one little thing that lets the watch down. Honestly though I think they appeal for different reasons. That's just my opinion obviously.
@@LRSTGS I was being a fair bit ironic as one primarily makes sports watches and for me GS excels in elegance - for that purpose I don’t need a bracelet
The hand wound releases are the star here, but I love that SLGH021. I would love it even more if GS gave us a light blue version of that in Ever Brilliant Steel or titanium. In fact, the darker titanium contrast with the light blue sounds fantastic. Funny (or sad), I think I like more releases from GS than I do Rolex from Watches & Wonders.
Hands-on photos, we have additional video but need more time to color correct it. Will be coming soon on the channel! We just wanted to get our thoughts out as soon as possible for our viewers. Thanks for watching!
The only one minute thing I have against this watch is the drilled lugs, I mean come on GS 🙄 edit: I mean even my Seiko Alpinist lugs are not drilled all the way through.
The boring lame font for the subtext continues to remain incoherent to the overall design and stature of the watch. Grand Seiko cant make a 100% proper watch
I get that SLGW002 is considered a dress watch but the 38mm is just annoyingly small. 39mm would have been a better size for everyone but Grand Seiko is going to look out for their Asian customers first.

@@LRSTGS Maybe don’t bitch about every new release that doesn’t align perfectly with your personal preferences, I’m sure that size will fit a lot of people perfectly. Some people don’t know how to keep their subjective, ill-informed opinions to themselves lol
Definitely one of the highlights of this year's show. Let's see if there are any future issues with this movement.
GS excels at dress watches. I love that titanium case.
Did you see the SBGW314, the rose gold blue dial re-creation of their first watch… stunning!
On another level.

That bird gear grinding during winding at 2:15 is interesting. Will stand the test of time ?
I would like this with the Shosho dial, please...
That birch bark in titanium is stunning, especially in 38mm.
The 40mm even looked too large for my 7,5” wrist.
Nice
Thanks!
MOAR dials, MOAR high intensity Ti on the 9SA4. What an awesome looking movement!
Love the titanium model,i own sbgw 231,but 10K...?Serious money..
7.5 is a perfect price for it

Grand Seiko, the thinking man’s Tudor.

The drinking man’s Schmooduh!
@@davidb9531 Ah. I missed the irony sorry. I have Asperger's so it happens regularly!

20mm lugs, sold me on the Titanium.

There's like $100 worth of titanium in that watch. Certainly not why it's $10k
Don't worry in 2 years it'll sell for 40% off on the secondary market
And you think it costs nothing to develop a watch?
There is about 50 dollars of steel in most luxury watches, you are not buying it to sell for scrap 😂
Awesome! If this had a bracelet with on the fly adjustment then that would truly be perfect!
That would be cool!
Not sure about the ‘hands on’ part, I just saw a series of pictures……

Finally an Evo 9 design without the date. They began to all look the same

grand seiko lost their minds with their pricing.

Geez, remove those subtexts from that beautiful dial. That 80 Hours should belong on a sticker not the dial, also hi beat shit can be more subtle.
That $45,000 price tag is pretty complainable
Love you guys and would be great to see a but more enthusiasm at the start. However, I can appreciate you must be tired after the long event
Stick it on a bracelet
Maybe someday!
“80 hours” on the dial= 🤮
?
how many 5hz watches have a power reserve of 80+ hours though?
If only it was 100m water resistant
38mm is too large for a classical dress watch. 36mm would be more appropriate.
You go make one then
@@henryreed6237 I don't make watches. I buy them.
@@LRSTGS Then quit bitching and buy a 36

Here is a complaint…they need to put luminescence on their watches! The movement is great but place it in an everyday wear
