Nice! As both a geology nerd and a Route 66 kitsch nerd, I freakin' love Arizona 66: Petrified Forest, the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Jack Rabbit Trading Post, La Posada Hotel in Winslow, Meteor Crater, Two Guns, Twin Arrows (now only one arrow), Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater and Wupatki, Grand Canyon, Williams and its neon, Seligman, Grand Canyon Caverns, Hackberry, Antares Point and Giganticus Headicus... All awesome stuff for sure!! What a trip that must have been in its heyday.. Arizona has become one of our favorite states to explore. So much beauty, history, great stops, and of course some epic Route 66 riding!
You should have stopped at the El Ranchero alot of movie stars would stay there while they were making movies. Errol Flynn and John Wayne rode their horses to the bar inside. Bob Hope and many more stay there as well.
Greatful Video / Roadride 😊... And the Meeting with you Follower, was simply heartful, kindly and joyful too ... Wish you all a safe and lucky Ride Your Arne ☺
HAHA at 15:31 where the guy said you are awesome, we were there by the train, we heard him yell it. We were riding Route 66 back to Cali. It was October 8th, We had just finish a good meal and was walking it of when we past the zipline and stopped by the train. Unfortunately we were on foot and couldn't meet up with you. Stay safe.
After watching the first two episodes...I am highly motivated to hit the road (after the snow melts) and just explore everywhere. You all are such a great inspiration. Thank you. P.S. I don't know who or why someone would give this series a thumbs down (must be hard-core cagers being eaten alive by their own jealousy)!

My wife and I did Route 66 solo from Chicago to Santa Monica in 2018. What a ride! We plan on doing it again the other direction. Thanks so much for your amazing videos. Ride on, ride safe!
Man, that's awesome to hear Mike!! Nothing like getting out and enjoying the freedom of the open road with your s/o. Thanks for watching, see ya down the road 🤘🇺🇸
Next time you are in Williams try the new sandwich shop. Gateway Sandwich Co. Great place for lunch and dinner. It is run by a husband and wife and their kids. As you know, great food anywhere in town. The group I use to ride with in California had a motto.... "Ride to eat, Eat to Ride". Keep up the good work. Great video.
Loving the video brings back memories. My wife and I did Route 66. Mile 1 to the peer. We actually started in Kingston Ontario Canada. Best time of my life.
You guys would be PERFECT at running tour groups where you bring folks on some of your favorite rides. I’m from the northeast and would love to get away over the winter for a riding vacation. I’m not rich but money spent on riding is money well spent!
Tha El Ranchero has a lot of history. You should stop in and check it out sometime. Many Hollywood stars stayed there when filming out on the desert and Monument Valley.
Plan on riding 66 from Chicago to Ca. this up coming year. Drove it in the 70's going home to Wisconsin on leave from the Navy...time to check it out again! Great Vlog!
In my younger days I had a dyna and I put a windshield and saddlebags on it and toured all over the west on it! These days I'm not sure I'm that tough? My hats off to Josh is it? Keeping up with you guys just fine! I'm on my second Road Glide and it's just like Galens!
@@2LaneLife I have been on both ends of Route 66 but on different trips. But on one of my rides I did exactly the same way from Kingman to Albuquerque. Your vlog reminds me on a great time.
Nice thanks for sharing, I just got back from a 4 day trip from Southern Cal to El Paso, met my buddy from Houston there stayed over in Las Cruses to have dinner on Saturday night and headed back Sunday. Good timing it went from 87 on Sunday in Las Cruses to 33 on Monday. I rode the route through Albuquerque in August when I met the same guy on the way to Sturgis. Beautiful ride.
Nice! Thanks for watching. We had a similar story, after hitting great weather the whole ride, and once we got home, some of those states got some heavy rain and got pretty cold. Perfect timing!
We ate breakfast at the Road Kill Cafe early March of this year on the way home to Ohio from California. Delicious. Stayed at the motel next door. I believe both are owned by the same family.

That would be awesome! It's a must see. We were actually in Albuquerque during the festival, but it was shut down this year so we only saw a couple balloons in the air. Hopefully back to normal by your birthday 🤘🏼

Great vids guys...got me pumped to get out some more this year...Heading out West from South Carolina...2 Brothers, 2 harley's and a month to fill. Should be fun...enjoy the rides...

Hi Guys, I'm loving watching your 66 vlog, I'm doing it next year with my wife, coming from the UK. You've mentioned useing an app - what's the app called to navigate 66? Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.
It’s the Route 66 Navigation Ap. Check out the Vlogs links section and it will direct you the there link. Thanks and holler just prior to leaving and we can chat.
Thanks for the support, Ivan! Yes, we have a website where we sell 2LaneLife apparel and thousands of aftermarket parts for V-Twin motorcycles. 2lanelife.com/collections/apparel
Not sure, but it sounds like there's intermittent closures here and there along the way. We're going to do it again from start to finish in a couple years and plan on seeing a handful of the things we missed from the first trip👍
On the handhelds, we just use the internal mic or the media mod which can be a little better for talking off the bike but doesn't make much of a difference while riding. Helmet cams are mic'd up 👍🏼
Damn that Route 66 drinking game can really take its toll. But on a serious note, I'm wondering what settings you use for shooting the videos? I've been told by a professional photographer that I only need to use 2.7k @24 fps because it looks more realistic. But I'm not sure he's taking into consideration highway speeds. Do you shoot 4k @30 fps? Or do you go to 60 fps?
Haha it sure can, we tapped out by the 15 minute mark!😂 We have a mixed setup. On a majority of our cameras, we shoot in 4k 30fps on automatic, so the ISO and shutter speed will compensate for various lighting conditions. These settings also work best with the stabilization in the GoPros to keep the footage as smooth as possible. While it results in some awesome footage, you are correct in saying the 24FPS results in a more realistic look. Josh has his GoPro set up on manual exposure and shutter speed while shooting in 4k at 24FPS., so we have some different looks. The frame rate is half of the equation when it comes to realistic footage. Typically, it is ideal to have your shutter speed double your frame rate. ie if you're shooting at 24 frames, your shutter speed should be at 1/48 or 1/50th of second, which results in some great motion blur that mimics what the eye sees naturally. (Same goes for 1/120th of a second at 60FPS, but the motion blur is not as pronounced) The only issue is that when the shutter speed is that low (and doesn't compensate automatically), images can come out very bright, so using ND filters helps with that. The stabilization is not as pronounced either, but some shake here and there also gives some depth to the footage and adds another aspect to that natural look. So if you're shooting in 24p, just make sure your shutter speed is locked at those numbers and to make sure that your sweet footage isn't coming out too bright. It just takes some experimenting! Hope that helps, thanks for the question and support! (p.s) it looks even better at highway speeds 🤘🏼
Thanks for watching BigBirdMofo! Glad you enjoyed the ride. For shorter solo trips, we run the saddlemen slim LS seats. We sometimes rock the road sofa LS on longer rides or with the wives. We have them on our site if you're interested. Feel free to reach out with any other questions 👍🏼

Welcome to the family! Maybe one our paths will cross.
Great content and editing! You guys are killing it.
Thanks zmanzippy! See ya on the next one 🤘🏼
Between Williams and Kingman there is a harley dealer on the south side of hw 40 take old 66 about 2 miles east and a film location for the movie easy rider is on the north side of old 66...the " no vacancies " hotel in the movie
Right on, we think we rolled by it actually. Thanks for the tip on the easy rider location, we'll have to check that out next time!
Fantastic and really informative video. Love it. Greetings from the UK
Nice to see your ride, say Hi from bogota Colombia! Love bikes too, great plan to travel!
Thanks for watching, Juan! Colombia in the house! We love seeing friends watch from other parts of the world

Awesome!! Go for it! When it gets close to the time you’re leaving hit us up and we can chat about the ride.
@@2LaneLife definitely reach out to you guys. Thank you.
Its my first long distance trip, so I will be looking up packing tips, and any other info.
I know it won't be perfect, but I think that will make it fun. Throttle Therapy is my only real goal.
Again thanks for all the videos.

Some snow is doable, but not Minnesnowta snow! We'll keep pumping out the videos in that case haha. Thanks for watching Kevin, glad you enjoyed 🇺🇸
Great video, great selections of baseball caps! Wish I I was there with you all riding out there. I’m jealous over here on other side of pond 😎 keep riding you’ all
Sempre acompanho está animação.🇧🇷👍👍
Freakin' awesome rides you two! Just a feedback, the audio for your voices are pretty LOW when you are off the bike talking towards the camera (placed 4-5 feet away). "See ya' down the road!"
Thanks for the comment Ferdinand! We always try to improve. 👍👍
2 Lane Life. I am your admirer and follow your videos. Thanks for sharing all your experience. I am from India I wish to do Route 66 in this Summer. besides eagle rider any other reference of someone who organize the same
Hi Guys, I'm loving watching your 66 vlog, I'm doing it next year with my wife, coming from the UK.
I think a lot of the routes were blocked off that had access to the reservations. They were all locked down in New Mexico.
Yup, thats a good point. We ran into some of those issues during the ride to Four Corners Raly recently.
i love your guys videos and content! you seem like a very chill group of men! do you sell your shirts?
Thanks for the support, Ivan! Yes, we have a website where we sell 2LaneLife apparel and thousands of aftermarket parts for V-Twin motorcycles. 2lanelife.com/collections/apparel
Seeing as this is 3yo, wonder if, and why, 66 was closed at the AZ/NM border?? You guys shoulda gone to see the Painted Desert Trading Post.....
Not sure, but it sounds like there's intermittent closures here and there along the way. We're going to do it again from start to finish in a couple years and plan on seeing a handful of the things we missed from the first trip👍
Are you guys using an external mic on the handheld gopro footage, or just the internal mic?
On the handhelds, we just use the internal mic or the media mod which can be a little better for talking off the bike but doesn't make much of a difference while riding. Helmet cams are mic'd up 👍🏼
Damn that Route 66 drinking game can really take its toll.
But on a serious note, I'm wondering what settings you use for shooting the videos? I've been told by a professional photographer that I only need to use 2.7k @24 fps because it looks more realistic. But I'm not sure he's taking into consideration highway speeds. Do you shoot 4k @30 fps? Or do you go to 60 fps?
Haha it sure can, we tapped out by the 15 minute mark!😂
We have a mixed setup.
(Same goes for 1/120th of a second at 60FPS, but the motion blur is not as pronounced)
The only issue is that when the shutter speed is that low (and doesn't compensate automatically), images can come out very bright, so using ND filters helps with that.
I would love to do a ride with you guys someday im retired so anytime is a good time...
Maybe we'll catch ya in Sturgis next year! Thanks for the support, Frank🤘
What an epic ride! What seats are you two running on these solo trips?
Thanks for watching BigBirdMofo! Glad you enjoyed the ride. For shorter solo trips, we run the saddlemen slim LS seats. We sometimes rock the road sofa LS on longer rides or with the wives. We have them on our site if you're interested. Feel free to reach out with any other questions 👍🏼
What is the Route 66 app were you using. BTW love your channel!
we found it on www.route66navigation.com/
Overall, it was a pretty solid app and had a live map which made it pretty convenient
cool bee watching you on instagram
Thanks George!!
Take a drink every time they say Route 66!
That might end up with a few empty bottles lying around😂
Which motel was that at the beginning of the vid that had marlon Brando painted on the pole?
Hey what radio mics do you guys use to communicate while riding
Our coms are Cardio PAC Talk Bold

Yes sir! We went back and looked! We wanted to take it for a spin!
Thank You. Good Quality. Thats what I like and Your Tips are very interesting. When the Corona-Crises is gone, I plan a tour on the route 66 as last great Tour in my life. have a good time and stay healthy
Wolfgang
PS. On my Channel you can see some Tours in Europe !
Awesome, thanks for watching Wolfgang! It will be nice once traveling is less restricted and we can all get to exploring other countries as well. We're hoping to do the same! We'll check out some vids on your channel, thanks for sharing!
Stay safe..stay inspired 🤘
Are you using the Harley app?
Nope, we used the Route 66 Navigation app for navigating through Route 66 👍🏼
Any advice for someone who wants to start doing this sort of thing?
The riding, the filming, or both?
@@2LaneLife both of them. I see you also do the parts as well as his son.
Did you guys see Twin Arrows?
We may have passed by it, but didn't stop to check it out this time around
Do you know if there is an updated map for route 66 if a foreigner wants to travel the route?
We used the Route 66 Ap as it was hard finding quality maps. The Ap worked pretty darn well.
See our Blog at 2LaneLife.com for the link.
